Dragon Protector: A WILD Security Book by Ruby Forrest (296)

Chapter Two

Nicole woke to the smell of coffee and eggs. She opened her eyes and found herself lying on a strange bed. It was covered in an exquisite comforter and a thick duvet underneath. When she looked around, she discovered that the bedroom was larger than her whole apartment. It even had its own fireplace and a dark, beautiful carpet. To one side she saw a door to a bathroom and a separate powder room. To another side she saw a slightly closed door. It was from this direction she could smell the aroma of breakfast.

She slowly crept out of bed and discovered she had nothing to wear. All of her clothes from the night before were nowhere to be found. She looked into one of the closets, in which she saw a plethora of male clothing, but fortunately managed to find a dark blue bathing robe that was long enough to cover her private parts. She quickly tied it around her waist and walked out the door.

Outside the bedroom she found a long hallway. She passed by a couple of doors but they were all shut and she didn’t want to discover who might be inside the rooms. Instead, she simply followed the aroma and eventually walked into a gorgeous kitchen.

The kitchen had black and white marble tiles and a large island table close to a long counter filled with numerous cooking utensils and appliances. She spotted a bar with tall barstools. At one end was a pair of ovens and a stove.

Cooking at this end was Michael, clad only in a pair of boxers and a white tank top.

“Hey, you’re awake,” he told her the moment he saw her walk in. “I thought you’d be in bed a while longer. I was going to serve you breakfast in bed.”

“Whose house did we break into last night?” Nicole asked as she took a barstool and sat close to Michael as he cooked. “Where the heck are we?”

Michael smiled and then waved a finger mindlessly to their surroundings, “Didn’t we have this conversation last night?”

“I was wasted,” she explained. “I’m sorry if I seem a little ditzy right now.”

Michael nodded and looked at her as he explained, “Welcome to my humble abode.”

Nicole’s jaw dropped in surprise.

“Yeah, you did that too last night,” Michael exclaimed as he focused his attention back to his cooking. “Come on, do I really not look like the kind of guy that would own this sort of house?”

Nicole looked at him, took a glance at the kitchen around her and then back at him. “No, you definitely do not strike me as that kind of guy.”

“Well, what kind of guy do I strike you as?”

“The sort that drives trucks all night for weeks?” Nicole answered. “I also thought military man or someone who worked on boats like a crab fisher or something. You got this really big body so I immediately thought of physical labor of some sort.”

Michael laughed and shook his head, “Well, I just like to keep in shape. If I didn’t I’d look like a really tall, lanky pencil. To be honest I own a consolidation corporation. You know White Eagle Corp. right?”

“You’ve got to be kidding me, how old are you?” Nicole just couldn’t believe what she was looking at. How could a guy like this, so young and smoking hot, be this successful? By the sheer look and size of his house he must have been a multi-millionaire or even a billionaire.

“Thirty-one,” he answered. “You? Oh god, please tell me I didn’t sleep with a minor.”

She laughed and shook her head, “Fortunately for you, I’m turning twenty-eight soon.”

“Really? When?”

Nicole watched as he flipped one of the sunny side-up eggs perfectly, “On Monday. I was hoping to get a job as a birthday gift to myself.”

Michael took one of the cooked eggs, placed it on a plate and served it with toasted bread and butter. He headed over to the counter, took a knife and fork, and a mug. Before heading back to Nicole he filled the mug with coffee out of a brewer and then served it all to Nicole.

She took a single sip of coffee and reached for sugar, “Wow, that’s strong.”

He handed her a small jar of sugar that had a teaspoon inside. “Damn, I need to get you something for your birthday then,” he said. “Want to go out later? I don’t usually head out to the mall but this is a special occasion.”

She nearly choked when she heard his offer, “Wait, what? Oh, no need for anything like that. I just want to get ready for job-hunting later and all. That’s my only thing for today.”

“What time are you planning to go around?”

“Sometime after lunch,” she answered. She took a bite out of her meal and then looked up at him, “Why, you plan on coming with me? It’s going to be a boring ride. Can’t give you a blowjob when I’m supposed to go in for an interview.”

He laughed hard at her statement and took a moment to grab his own cup of coffee. He took another barstool and sat opposite of her. “Let me drive you around.”

“Why?”

“If I let you go I might never see you again,” he exclaimed. Nicole nodded and realized he was right. They only met last night and it was just a one-night stand. If this doesn’t develop into something deeper soon then it’ll evaporate.

At least he knew this was his one shot to forge something stronger. Nicole could think of half a dozen guys that never even tried, having been satisfied with a fifteen minute quickie.

She looked into his eyes and stated, “I’ll admit, I thought this was just going to be a one-time thing and I’d wake up in my apartment, alone and with a bad hangover. It’s a nice little surprise to wake up in a comfy, big bed and have breakfast served for once.”

Michael gave a sarcastic but nonetheless cute curtsy, “You’re welcome. Honestly, I was going to approach you a few weeks ago.”

Nicole pointed a finger and had a wicked smile on her face, “Aha! You’ve been stalking me.”

“No, no, no, nothing like that,” Michael tried to defend himself. “I was at that new place, the Trax Corner. You were there once, I think on a Friday or something, and I saw you dancing with some friends. I was going to approach and say hi but by the time I bought a drink to offer I saw you were already talking to some guy.”

Nicole shrugged, “Oh man, I remember that night. Yeah, now that I think about it I wish you just came up anyway. That guy you saw, Kevin, man he was an asshole.”

“Did you fuck him?”

“Didn’t get that far,” Nicole consoled him. She saw him give a sigh of relief. “He was being a jerk all night so I ditched him and went back with my girls. We went to see a movie. I was disappointed. I wanted to get wasted.”

Looking at him, Nicole felt a little bit of assurance and a tingling sensation of amusement. She liked him. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to actually keep on dating him but so far he was nice and it definitely helped that he was polite and good-looking.

“All right then,” she concluded. “You can go around with me.”

Michael pumped his fist into the air in triumph. Nicole laughed and they spent the rest of the morning finishing their meals and relaxing back in the bedroom.
