Hunter (The Bad Disciples MC Book 2) by Savannah Rylan (22)

CHAPTER 22

Kylie

Marco was doing so much better.

I was back at the VA, back in my scrubs and I was helping Marco walk with the help of the levers. I kept a firm grip on his shoulders while he dragged his limp leg but today, there was a marked difference in his demeanor. It was almost like he was determined to show me that he was willing to work hard and push himself to get better.

When I saw that the veins on his temples were swollen, I told him it was enough and helped him sit back down on his wheelchair.

“Is the group meeting helping?” I asked him, while I filled in notes in my ledger. Marco was still panting from the exertion but now he was smiling as well.

“You know, I only agreed to go to those things to give Hunter and you some alone time. I figured that the more you thought I was accepting your help, the better my pal would have a chance with you,” he said, as I signed my name at the bottom of Marco’s progress report.

When I looked up at him, he was still smiling.

“That’s a messed-up reasoning, but I’m glad something made you do it, whatever it was,” I said, returning his smile. Marco seemed like he was in a much better mood today.

“Hunter isn’t the world’s biggest talker, but something tells me that the two of you have something going on,” he said and I walked up to him and placed my hands on my hips.

“I can’t divulge any of his secrets,” I said, my eyes twinkling with excitement. Only last night, I was lying in Hunter’s arms, falling asleep on his couch and then he woke me up in a few hours again to have sex. It was like we couldn’t get enough of each other. Marco could see the flush on my face and the wide grin that I couldn’t hide and he knew.

“You don’t have to say the actual words, I can figure it out myself thank you very much,” he said and I bit down on my lip to hide my thrill.

That was when the doors of the therapy room burst open and the man I was in love with, walked in. He was back in his leather jacket, hadn’t bothered to shave and the first thing I noticed about him was the patch. I didn’t care anymore. Hunter wore it like a badge of honor and that was all that mattered to me.

Instead of acknowledging his friend, Hunter walked straight up to me and pulled me into his arms for a long passionate kiss. His fingers weaved through my hair, his free hand shrugged up my scrubs so that the small of my back was on full display. Hunter was kissing me like there was nobody else in the room but us. When he finally pulled away from me, our lips parted with a loud smack.

“Whoa. Save her some breath, brother!” Marco commented and Hunter walked over to land a friendly thump on his shoulder.

“How is he doing, Kylie?” Hunter asked me, his blue eyes were twinkling and he had a happy grin on his face. Whatever it was that had put Hunter in a good mood, I was loving it! It was a fresh change from his usual broody gruff demeanor.

“A lot better now that I have evidence of what’s going on between you two!” Marco said, wheeling himself away from us like he wanted to give us some privacy.

Hunter smirked at his friend and then looked at me again.

“Are you off now?” he asked and I nodded my head, still reeling from the shock of seeing him so excited and happy.

“Marco was my last client of the day, as always. But I have to pick up Carter,” I said and Hunter came closer to me and drew me in with his hand on my jaw. He was peering straight into my eyes and I knew that something was up. There had to be a particular reason why he was so excited about everything.

“Okay, we’ll pick Carter up, drop him to your place and get your neighbor to babysit him for a few hours,” Hunter exclaimed and I furrowed my brows in confusion.

“Why? Where are we going to go?” I asked him.

“The Rusty Pelican,” he replied, throwing me into even more confusion.

“It’s a bar”

“We’re going to a bar? I’m not in the mood for a drink, Hunter,” I told him, eyeing him indulgently. I had an early shift the next morning and I couldn’t afford to be hungover. I knew that Hunter would keep me up all night, and if he didn’t, I would keep him up…I also didn’t want to be battling an alcoholic headache at the same time as struggling through no-sleep.

“We don’t have to drink. The Rusty Pelican is the place where we hang out…my MC,” he said, with that grin on his face spreading even more.

“You want to take me to your bar? You want me to meet your MC?” I asked and Hunter wasn’t nodding his head, he just continued to smile.

“My friends are there right now, telling Axel…he’s our president, about what happened…about you. He will want to meet you once he hears the story,” Hunter explained and I licked my lips in nervousness.

“He will want to meet me? The president of the Bad Disciples? I’ve never been to a place like that before, Hunter,” I said, in a softer weaker voice and he pulled me in for another bear hug.

“You have nothing to worry about, Kylie. I’ll be there with you the whole time. I want you to be a part of my world, princess and for that you need to meet my friends,” he said, bringing his lips close to mine again, and I was melting…I stood no chance against this man’s persuasions.
