I Am the Boss Here: An Alpha Male Romance by Claire Angel (9)

Chapter 9

Michelle

Tyson is sitting at his computer and I don’t know how to bring up the topic. The plane is taxiing on the runway and we are on a way to Japan. I’m actually happy, but still nervous around him for obvious reasons. I don’t want to admit it, but his body has been prominent in my dreams.

He was the only one to know my secret until I blurted it out in his office.

The expressions on their faces on the computer during his conference call were priceless. I had a fleeting glance on my way out of the door.

I spent the next few days buried in work. I didn’t want the reminder, but I did feel his eyes on me from behind breathing down my neck. He somehow remained professional. If he was waiting for me to broach the topic then he was going to be waiting a very long time.

I’m sitting next to him and I can feel the words on the tip of his tongue.

It’s an effort to avoid him and I feel somewhat paralyzed by what has become a contention between us. It’s not my fault. My strict upbringing and the horror stories from my friends didn’t exactly give me the confidence.

I’m not immune to how guys look at me seemingly out of the corner of their eye. It’s not like I don’t want to get it over with, but I’m waiting for the right time.

I want something special with a guy who is with me for more than casual sex. It is appealing to be the centre of attention. Dressing provocatively gives me a temporary outlet, but it’s not fair to those I dangle the bone in front of thinking that a starving dog isn’t going to attack.

It’s wicked and I’m sure they have said a few words behind my back not complimentary. I’ve heard bitch said under their breath when I rebuff their advances.

I grip the seat when the plane takes off. I’m not what you would call a comfortable flyer. Fear doesn’t cripple me in some areas of my life. I push through to the other side fighting the natural urge to run in the opposite direction. The demons of my past have made me the woman I am today. I won’t shy away from the unknown, but sex has been a subject of some debate lately.

“I’m glad you could join me. This annual trip is something I look forward to every year. It’s never the same. I feel like a kid in a candy store. Networking is the lifeblood of any talent agency. They converge from all over the globe for the chance to mingle with the best in the business. I sent you a portfolio of those attending and I would like you to acquaint yourself with them,” Tyson suggests with his fingers a blur on the keyboard and he doesn’t seem to be looking at the screen.

It’s almost second nature.

His suit is immaculate in charcoal grey perfectly tailored to his physical dominance. There’s no easy way to admit my fascination for being taken to new heights of pleasure. I have a feeling I would like him a lot better with his clothes off completely at the mercy of my eager and hungry eyes.

It’s never something I’m going to say and I bite my lip to prevent myself from encouraging his bad behaviour.

There’s a stocked bar and I have a dirty martini in front of me with a telltale green olive swirling around the glass getting ready to be plucked into my mouth. It is strong and gives me some much needed liquid courage to sit idly by and watch him struggle with what to say.

“I’m way ahead of you. I’ve been doing my due diligence on those attending to get a better feel for who they are in their personal life. They will, no doubt, be surrounded by their best and the brightest in their talent pool. I’m not sure I agree with your choice of talents to join us.” I’m referring to Raven who sleeps soundly without stirring from his seat in the back.

There is an empty bottle of wine clutched in his fist. I have this sinking suspicion he’s not going to be in any shape to party. I suspect he’s drowning his sorrows. It probably has something to do with a woman.

“I know it might not seem like it, but I always know what I’m doing. Raven and his daughter have the same blood running through their veins. They want the same thing when it comes to fame and notoriety. They have the gift and you know exactly what I’m talking about,” He hints saying nothing and everything at the same time.

“Raven is a proven commodity and his name will open up a lot of doors for his daughter. You would never take a chance on somebody green unless they had something to offer. Her last name is cash money. Any producer in their right mind wouldn’t think twice about signing her to lucrative deal sight unseen,” I reveal and I turn to see Tyson is quite surprised by how easily I have ascertained his intentions.

He shrugs and goes back to his work reading up on those big names in the industry. I have my own research and I know where to look to find the skeletons in somebody’s closet. It’s all about leverage. The game is always afoot and I have to be on my toes at any given time.

It’s tedious and exhausting, but it gives me ample opportunity to delve into something without thinking about how easy it would be to crash into the ocean below. It’s a long trip, but I won’t resort to pharmaceutical aid.

We reach for the same glass and our fingers touch with this electricity in the air. I was looking to kill the pain of my irrational nerves when it came to flying. We stare at each other.

I want to kiss him, but I can’t bring myself to do it. It will only send the wrong message.

“Go ahead and I can easily get another one. You are very good at hiding it, but I can tell you are afraid of flying. It’s actually quite safe, but I won’t make light of your fear. Try to relax and take a few deep breaths through your nose and out through your mouth,” He implores and takes my hand to watch me intently like a concerned parent.

He actually earns a few brownie points. I want to avoid all the confusion by getting involved with him. I can’t give him an inch without him taking a mile. The road is fraught with obstacles and unseen hurdles which might throw me into his arms.

I find a reason to hope and I fantasize about the possibility of doing more than work in Japan. My love life might be a dismal disappointment but my fantasy life is alive and well. It’s quite active and demanding.

I don’t know what came over me. Wearing the blood red leather skirt with nothing on underneath is a departure for me. I anxiously wait for the moment where he bends to retrieve something from the floor and spies my naked mound glistening with anticipation.

Tyson is constantly playing with this engraved silver pen moving it back and forth from one finger to another. It’s a dangerous proposition and I bite my tongue screaming inside my head to stay the course.

One week alone with him is going to get me one step closer to doing what my body is begging for.

“I wish I could be calm like you. I feel like I’m jumping out of my skin. The only way to make it bearable is by drinking and doing some work. It doesn’t help how you constantly undress me with your eyes. You can feign innocence, but I can tell what you are thinking. I don’t like it. The only way you’re going to get anywhere close to me is by getting me drunk and dragging me back to your room under the influence,” I said not meaning to give him ideas.

I can see how his mind is running through the possibilities. God help me, but I think he’s actually considering using liquor to lower my inhibitions. I don’t want to believe this man has become irresistible, but I’m having trouble fighting the natural impulse to let him play my body like a musical instrument.

I’m searching for the story untold, but I don’t see him as the main character within those hidden pages. He doesn’t exhibit the traits I’m looking for in a man. There’s nothing genuine about him and his only redeeming quality is his body. I can think of a few things to occupy my time during the flight which involves far less constricting clothing.

I sometimes find myself drifting in and out of my fantasy consciousness. I can easily envision being taken on the airplane floor with my high heels pointing towards the ceiling. It’s not a good time for me to get into a relationship that is strictly physical. I know his reputation with the ladies and I’m not the least bit impressed.

It doesn’t stop me from thinking about him outside of the office in various states of undress. I want him to be the perfect man with a sensitive soul and a sex drive to keep me coming back for more.

I can’t help to be attracted to him. He exudes this animal magnetism hard to ignore. It follows him like a dark cloud shrouding him in mystery to pique my curiosity.

“We can’t keep going like this without addressing what we are both thinking. I know this might sound out of line and I certainly don’t want you to take it the wrong way. You don’t have to be afraid of me. I would never consider doing anything unless you were willing to give me the green light. I’m certainly not going to take advantage of you even if you do drink a little too much. You have my word that I will protect you from the vultures circling around looking for their next conquest,” He declares and I feel his words are from the heart.

“That’s all well and good, but who is protecting me from you?” I ask not really expecting an honest answer out of a man who has made his life out of lies and misdirection.

“I will be on my best behaviour unless you tell me otherwise. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention what happens in Japan stays in Japan. I don’t know what you have in store for this trip, but I hope you find time to enjoy the culture. It is steeped in tradition and something you should experience to believe,” He advises and opens up a Japanese tourist map with me perusing the contents by leaning forward to get a closer look.

I shift, trying to find a comfortable position and failing miserably. I don’t want to have feelings for him, but my heart screams out from the darkness of my soul. It’s whispering encouraging words of wisdom.

“I wouldn’t even know where to begin. Having you as a guide will help to navigate those pitfalls other tourists fall into. This shouldn’t give you any ideas. This is business and has nothing to do with personal. You can delude yourself into thinking that I will eventually fall victim to your charms, but it won’t happen. I know how you can’t seem to take no for an answer and it becomes a challenge to your manhood. What you see in front of you is off limits,” I said, turning away from him to avoid the temptation of wanting to rip off his suit until he is exposed and ready to pursue frivolous moments of pleasure.

“I can give you what you want. A moment of complete bliss is right here within your reach. You’ve been waiting this long and I don’t want your first time to be a disappointment. I can be very giving.” He flutters his tongue obscenely, but it does make me think. “I’m sure I don’t have to paint you a picture of what I mean.” His words brought forth this image of the two of us tangled in the sheets for hours until the crack of dawn.

“You just don’t know how to take a hint.”

“I don’t see how that can be a surprise. Mark my words the time will come when you will want somebody with experience. This could be the start of your own personal sexual revolution. I’ve been known in the past to covet thy neighbour’s wife. I will decline from making any unwanted advances on any other woman, but you have to give me an inkling of hope.” He drops his pen and retrieves it with this evil little glint in his eyes obviously suspecting what I was hiding under my skirt.

I don’t want him to think this is for him, but he already does. There’s no taking it back.
