Promises Part 5: The Next Generation by A.E. Via (24)

Kell

Man, he hoped he didn’t fall flat on his face. He concentrated on putting one foot in front of the other as Ty walked him home. He’d insisted, even though Kell had told him he’d been walking the route for years and was able to defend himself just fine in case he’d forgotten. But, when Ty pulled his hood on and readied him to go back out into the cold, Kell forgot all about what he’d been refuting— His no easily turned into a yes with Ty in his space.

They didn’t hold hands or get too close, because there were too many cats out moving around the block. Men hustling on the corners. Bored gang members standing on porches waiting for any stimulant to happen by and spark their hatred. When they got to his building a couple of men stood out front, one with a lit cigarette dangling from his mouth, the other was leaning against the railing with a menacing scowl. They were regulars who lived in his building.

“What up, man?” The one smoking said to Kell on his way past.

Kell gave them his usual silent nod and kept walking, Ty close behind him. He turned in the hall and pointed up the stairs. “That’s me on third floor. You don’t have to”

Ty took his hand and began pulling him behind him up the stairs. Shoot. He was hoping Ty didn’t want to come in. Kell didn’t keep a nasty place but he hadn’t been expecting company.

“What time do you wake in the morning?” Ty asked.

“About five.”

Ty reared back in surprise.

“I have a morning routine. Without it, my day doesn’t go well.” Kell stood next to his door. “This is me.”

Ty smiled that teasing grin as he watched Kell nervously fumble with his keys. He really wanted to ask Ty in but he knew he wasn’t ready for that. In his apartment was a wide comfortable couch and a bed. He wasn’t ready to see Ty on either one of those.

Ty gently extracted Kell’s keys from his hand and unlocked his front door for him. When he had the door cracked, Ty handed him his keys. “Sleep well, shorty.”

Ty cupped his face and lifted his chin until it was almost resting on his chest. He leaned down and placed a long, lingering kiss on his forehead. Holding in his sigh, Kell closed his eyes and soaked in the radiance of Ty’s affection. A few seconds later he pulled away.

“Good night,” Kell whispered, backing into his apartment. It was difficult, but he closed the door, leaving his partner on the other side.

Kell leaned against the hard surface for a long time reflecting on the entire day. His smile got wider when he thought of their personal time at the dojo. Ty had listened and marveled at his teachings and his skills. The way his partner had looked at him made Kell feel like he was the only thing that mattered. Kell didn’t want to add complications to Ty’s life, regardless of the fact that his partner was a master at manipulating complex situations.

Ty had his and Brian’s sensitive relationship to re-familiarize himself with, his professional relationships with his new employer and team to build on, then on top of all that, he had their rapidly budding relationship. Kell prayed Ty was strong enough to blend his worlds together and manage them without hassle. Without even one of them being neglected. It was the miraculous way his mind moved. It was Ty’s superpower. Kell smiled again. He was so far past smitten. Especially after the meaningful hugs, the sweet forehead kisses.

My heaven.

Still grinning like a loon, Kell peeled himself off the door and went to his bedroom. It was different not returning home until late, already well fed and content for rest. He’d found himself moving through his evening ritual in a hurry so he could quickly get to bed and wake the next day… ready to work and anxious to see how Ty would amaze him. It’d been almost a week since he’d powered up his laptop to stalk his father’s social media pages. Hadn’t even thought of him. Instead of giving his dad one second of his thoughts—which he didn’t deserve—he gave them all to Ty.

In the shower, he thought of the way Ty’s big hands felt on his body. The way his thick lips felt against his cool skin. “Mmmm.” Kell’s dick thickened to the point of throbbing. He didn’t touch himself, wouldn’t give in to the pleasure. Wouldn’t cheat himself. Instead, he soaped his rag and washed rapidly, making sure to spend the least amount of time on his cock and ass, just cleaning and nothing more. Kell soaped his balls, groaning at the astounding fullness. “Oh goodness.” He wondered if Ty was in his hotel room right now, experiencing the same troubles. God, he hoped so.

Kell slid on a pair of briefs and covered himself in his ratty, blue, terrycloth robe. He stood at the side of his bed and set his old school alarm clock as a backup, wanting to be sure he made it to Duke’s early so as not to miss his morning time with Ty. Swooning like a high school kid, Kell dropped to his knees and clasped his hands together.

“Dear Heavenly Father. I’m in love for the first time.”
