Promises Part 5: The Next Generation by A.E. Via (38)

Ty

He woke up late in the night uncomfortably stuck to his husband. Okay, I wasn’t warned about this. Kell was sprawled on his back, dead to the world with Ty half draped over him. He smiled when he pried his chest off Kell’s body—snagging pubic hair as he did—and he still hadn’t moved. He just curled onto his side and fell back into a deep sleep. He must’ve done something right. It was a nice boost to his ego.

He went into the bathroom and turned the shower on. They didn’t have much in there, but Ty had remembered to bring a few towels and toiletries to get them through the next couple of days. He’d also get his few things out of storage that he’d collected over the months while the house was being built. He’d leave a lot of the decorating to Kell or get Brian to help him. It’d be a home in no time.

Now that they both had good jobs, they were going to be okay. The house was paid for and he still had some savings. But, not enough to live comfortably forever and support a family. Going into a career of bail recovery had turned out to be a very lucrative decision. He had a nice paycheck and he was sure Kell did as well. When they were no longer on probation, they’d start making incentives on the bounties they recovered. He knew how to manage finances properly, he wasn’t worried about that. All he wanted was for Kell to be happy. To never again feel like he wasn’t wanted, loved, special and gorgeous. He wouldn’t have to cover himself anymore. Only when he was doing his thing in the shadows. Ty’s dick swelled, thinking of his badass husband. He finished his shower quickly then brushed his teeth. He took another rag and soaped it under the warm water and grabbed another dry one.

Kell was still sleeping hard. His naked body splayed on top of the rumpled white sheets was an irresistible temptation. Ty climbed into bed with him and pressed close. He gently spread Kell’s cheeks and touched the rag to his sexed-up hole. Kell whined and spread his legs, his eyes still closed, his hand going underneath him. Damn. Ty’s joint was brick already and he’d only taken a couple of swipes with the rag. He wiped over Kell’s soft mounds and dried him tenderly. Then he gently cleaned the come that had leaked between Kell’s thighs after he’d slid out of him. The suds ran down his crease to his balls, making Kell squirm on his palm and rub that sweet ass right under his nose. Ty narrowed his eyes, shoving his dick down. He’d let his heart get a little rest before he went in him again… and again… and again.

He finished drying him and pulled the covers up over their naked bodies. He tucked Kell into his chest and threw his thigh over top of him. It put his joint in the perfect position for him to take him from the side in the morning.

The next time Ty woke up it was daybreak. He’d slept well. Peaceful. He didn’t realize how tired he’d been working so hard for Duke. This weekend had been so important and needed in many ways.

But none of that was the issue. Ty was wondering why Kell wasn’t against his body. He checked the bathroom and saw it was dark inside. Waiting a couple of minutes for his wood to go down, he got up to search for him after he was met with continuous silence. He glanced at his watch on the nightstand and saw it was seven forty. In the bathroom, he washed his face and brushed his teeth again then took care of important business. When he came out he threw on a pair of sweats from his bag and left the room. First place he checked was the room they’d already designated as Kell’s meditation space. It was dark and empty. When he cleared the hall, the room brightened naturally from the skylights as the day climbed to its start. The kitchen was dark. Then he saw his heart, swathed in his silky robe, sitting in some cool ass pose on one of their bed pillows, facing the patio door. His hands rested delicately on his knees and his head was slightly slanted up toward the rising sun. Ty watched. So much in love.

The sun was all the way up and Kell was still sitting stone-still in the same position. It had to have been an hour already. His soft face was relaxed, so at peace, his chest barely moving from his sedate breaths. It was inspirational to watch. His partner was a thinker. Ty knew he’d done right by not settling for a woman who didn’t understand him or appreciate his traditions. It could be difficult for a person to respect, if their mind wasn’t open. He hadn’t met anyone who came close to touching him until Brian had saved him and brought him to Kell.

Ty was leaning against the wall staring out of the back door wondering if they should get a nice patio set when he heard Kell’s breathing change. A slow smile started to spread on his lips before he opened his sparkling eyes.

“And how long have you been standing there so quietly?” Kell rose smoothly to his feet and walked over to him. He looked as if he was glowing.

Ty opened his arms, allowing Kell to slide against him with that smooth robe.

“A little while.” He kissed Kell’s forehead. “I woke up wondering why my husband wasn’t in our bed.”

Kell blushed. “I’m not used to sleeping past six. I was coming back to bed.”

“Oh were you? Mmm.” Ty bent and captured Kell’s mouth, sucking his tongue hungrily. Making sure to give him a proper good morning. “Last night was…”

“God, yeah.” Kell sighed, aiming for his mouth again.

Enough said.

“Are we staying here today?” Kell asked him when they broke apart.

“We can do whatever you want. But I’d thought we’d start getting some furniture in here and the rest of your things. I really only had time to prepare the bedroom. I felt all the other rooms could wait.” Ty rubbed his hands up and down Kell’s arms. “We have orange juice, water, and a little food in there… well, actually, I only got you some fruit.”

Kell beamed up at him as if Ty flung the stars into the sky. “You know what I want to do?”

Ty couldn’t help but smile. Name it.

“I want to go grocery shopping,” Kell said with a lot of excitement.

Ty gave him an expressionless stare. “Grocery. Shopping? The day after you get married?”

“Hearing it like that, it does sound a little odd, but yes. I want to buy food!” Kell laughed so hard he had tears in his eyes.

Damn, life with this man was going to be amazing. He had Ty grinning and feeling silly at absolutely nothing.

“I always liked buying groceries. The little I could afford. I loved trying recipes on my apartment’s tiny electric stove.” Kell’s smile started to fade, his face going serious. “Now, my husband gave me an incredible kitchen with a real gas stove and dual ovens. It’s beautiful. I’m excited to use it. I want to cook my husband a meal fit for king tonight.”

Kell would forever take his breath away with just his words. Ty kissed him passionately in the hope of showing him just how he felt about his suggestion. Kell was flooding him with so many gifts, his heart didn’t have room enough to receive them all. It was the perfect way to spend their second day. He’d put away a few boxes in the house while he constantly went into the kitchen and stole kisses as Kell cooked them dinner.

They were still leaning against the wall tonguing five minutes later. He slid his hand inside Kell’s robe and stimulated one of his nipples while he sucked hard on his throat. Kell’s hips bucked against his. “Yes.”

“I’m not gonna be able to stay off you. You know that right.” Ty groaned, rubbing his dick against Kell’s hot body, reaching for his ass, massaging him where he moaned the loudest.

Ty was just about to pick Kell up and pin him against the wall when their doorbell rang. He quickly let go of Kell’s thigh and fixed his robe on his body. After he’d cinched the tie tight he told him to go back in the bedroom. No one knew they were there. No one except Brian and he wouldn’t come so early.

When the bedroom door closed, Ty went to the front door and yelled, “Who is it?”

“We heard someone done fell and slipped into some awesomeness around here!” Dana yelled through the door.

What the actual fuck?

Ty couldn’t stop his laugh long enough to look truly pissed. He yanked open the door and saw Brian standing there on his porch with their whole team behind him with shit-eating grins on their faces. He gave Brian an annoyed scowl, “For real, Brian?”

Brian smirked, not appearing the slightest bit guilty, “News travel fast when you’re in a family.”

Dana went to storm past him and straight into the house, but Brian shot his arm out and blocked him from getting past. Brian looked at Ty, his voice quieter, “Is Kell decent to have company.”

Ty greatly appreciated the respect, “Yeah. Thanks. Come on in.”

The five of them filed into his home, their heads swiveling in all directions as they took in everything. There was nowhere for anyone to sit so they all just stood in the living room area. Duke was the first to start in on him.

“Would’ve been nice if ya’ll had mentioned it was getting so serious. Imagine my surprise when my honey sits up in bed this morning and casually says, “I wonder how Kell’s wedding night went.” Duke frowned at him, “You didn’t think to ask me if this union would be acceptable?”

Ty checked the other men’s faces, wondering if this was a prank or a joke. Ask him? Ask for permission? He was confused.

“Why are you looking like that?” Duke said, keeping his heatless scowl in place.

I know why he’s looking at you like that.” Brian scoffed. He opened a bag Ty hadn’t noticed he was holding and removed a twelve-by-sixteen picture frame and set it on their mantle. Ty smiled when he saw it was a picture of him and Kell, embracing tightly on the courthouse steps, smiling affectionately in each other’s face, between kisses. It was beautiful.

“Well?” Duke drawled, stealing his attention back.

“Well what?” Ty glanced around. “I thought you were joking. Why would I ask you something like that? I’m a grown man. I was supposed to ask another man if I should marry my soulmate and then what… wait for you to say yes or no? Then adhere to your decision. Do men do this for real?” Unheard of.

Brian and Ford laughed. Duke at least appeared sheepish. “I didn’t mean ask for permission, per se. Damn. Was just pointing out, in case you hadn’t thought about it while in your matrimonial bliss, that not all spouses can work together.”

“You’ll just have to trust us. We worked for you up until three in the morning the night before our wedding. We stayed focused on business until it was completed, then we handled our personal affairs. We’ve already showed you that you have nothing to be concerned about.”

“Good. That’s all I was trying to say.” Duke gave him a one-armed hug. “Congratulations, man. I thought ya’ll were doing it for a cheaper health package or something.”

Ty shoved his boss off, laughing with his brothers as they ribbed him about foregoing a bachelor party and being—not pussy-whipped—but dick-whipped harder than any man they’d ever met.

Quick glanced around the kitchen then came and stood in front of Ty. He stuck his hand out to him. Ty took it and shook his husband’s sensei’s hand in a solid grip. “Respect.” Quick said roughly. The Grandmaster glanced around at his son’s new home, his new life, all provided for by Ty, “He deserves this.”

Ty couldn’t have agreed more.

Kell came out of the bedroom in a pair of jeans and a long-sleeve white shirt. The guys immediately went in on his shy smile and well-sexed appearance. Kell blushed furiously, waving off their team and going right up to Quick to give him a long hug. When Kell pulled back, Ty saw he had moisture in his eyes that he quickly chuckled off. They were joyful tears.

“You look happy, Kellam,” Quick said in a low tone.

“I am.” Kell gazed over at Ty, his smile, his energy turning to love. He walked over to him as if he couldn’t help but draw nearer. Ty lifted his arm and let him in. Their kiss was automatic.

“Damn, man!” Dana grumbled first, followed by Ford’s grunts of exasperation. “’Helloooo. We’re still here.”

Quick turned his head, not able to see his son get loved on. Duke and Brian were watching with expressions that said ‘young saps’. Ty ignored it. He’d made a grown man’s decision. Maybe the ‘old saps’ should take notes.

Ty didn’t know why Kell would look at him like that then come and touch his chest, gazing into his eyes while they had company. Even his husband’s smallest touches and hugs heated him like crazy. Kell had to know by now how fast he could move Ty’s body rhythm in another direction.

“Are we suddenly invisible?” Dana waved in their direction.

Ty didn’t avert his eyes when he told his team, “That’s what happens when you come to a man’s house the morning after he got married.”

“I think that’s our cue,” Brian said, already leading their team toward the front door.

Thank goodness Brian has some sense.

Make sure you’re wearing these when you come in on Monday.” Duke put their agent recovery badges they’d earned on their breakfast bar. “If you would’ve mentioned to your boss that you were getting hitched, he would’ve given you a week off to enjoy it.”

“We’re on probation,” Ty told his boss easily. “We’ll wait until we’ve earned the vacation time.”

“Cool,” Duke said approvingly. “In the meantime, we’ve decided we’re going to let you and Kell continue to work on clearing the backlog and we’re gonna work on finding you two some more muscle for the streets. Dana has a couple guys in mind and Ford has an old SEAL buddy who has a son who’s supposed to be unstoppable.”

“Sounds like a plan,” Ty murmured, reaching out and shaking his Duke’s hand when he walked by, then went back to staring down at the sexy man in his arms.

“Okay, we’re gone,” Dana called out. “There’s no food in here, anyway.”

Kell laughed embarrassingly as their team filed out the door, “We’ll see you on Monday.”

The door slammed shut and they were alone again. It wasn’t a second later Ty had Kell pinned to the wall. “What time does your grocery store close?”

Kell moaned in his mouth, “Late, really late.”

“Good.” Ty took his husband back to their bedroom.

The End.
