RIDE by Nellie Christine (34)

Kit pushed the Target shopping cart into the next aisle. He found a sale on Tide detergent and placed four in, followed by some fabric softener. Bentley followed behind him like a puppy dog, dropping in a few family-sized Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Kit turned to him and smiled.

“What did you think about the interview?” Bentley asked. “You’ve been quiet.”

Kit had a lot on his mind. He started to walk again, Bentley close by his side. “Honestly… it wasn’t nearly as messy as I expected it to be. I think you did amazing, and I’m sure when I talk to the distributor he’ll say the merch is flying off the virtual shelves…”

Bentley slid a hand over his waist and nodded. “Okay. What aren’t you saying?”

Kit smiled and turned to look at him. “What do you mean?”

Bentley stared at him.

“Okay.” Kit licked his lips and looked down into the cart. “Honestly, the whole part about the Toronto competition was a bit cocky. Even if you’re absolutely right, I don’t want you to be stuck in the middle of a media war with Simon whatever-his-name-is because you got carried away during the interview.”

Bentley seemed confused. “Carried away? I really am that arrogant. The guy isn’t that good, Kit.”

Kit shook his head. “Even if you are that arrogant, which I don’t know if I believe, is that the side of you that you want America seeing on a national television show?”

Bentley smirked. “Hey, I’m just being honest with people. I know I’m better than him and he knows it too. Why hide that?”

Kit began to walk again, turning into a brand new aisle. Bentley swayed slowly behind him. “I guess that I just don’t want this blowing up later on. I don’t want to go online and see this guy saying something bad about you.”

Bentley shrugged. “He knows the truth. That’s what matters.”

Kit grabbed a pack of razors and dropped them in the cart. While he was concerned about Bentley biting off more than he could chew with that big mouth of his, he also had to wonder about all else that was discussed during the interview. More specifically, when it came to the two of them.

Bentley began to toss some random items in the cart. He stretched his arms out and knocked a couple deodorants from the shelf onto the floor. Kit shook his head at him. Bentley picked them up before approaching Kit. He observed their surroundings and grabbed Kit around the waist, pushing him against the shelves. Kit laughed as a shaving cream can fell onto the floor.

“What are you doing?”

He got his answer when Bentley kissed him like he’d gone without doing so for years. Kit breathed him in; his hands linking around Bentley’s neck. He then felt Bentley’s hands sneaking beneath his #TeamBenny t-shirt and skirting across his skin. He slipped his tongue between Bentley’s lips and fought not to moan when Bentley sucked on it.

There was no way he wanted to get a woody in Target, but it was hard to stop. Eventually, an employee walked by and cleared his throat. Kit opened his eyes, pushing Bentley back a bit. It was easier said than done, because it seemed like his boyfriend was just getting started.

“Benny,” Kit said with a laugh. He cupped his face with both hands, looking him in the eyes. “Can I ask you something?”

Bentley’s silvery eyes looked back at Kit. “Anything.”

Kit nodded. “Today. What you said about me on the show… about being pretty deep. Was it true?”

Bentley smiled slowly. “Isn’t it obvious?”

Kit slowly began to smile. “I’m … I feel the same way about you.”

“Yeah?” Bentley leaned in and kissed him softly before stepping back. “Are you sure? Because I’m crazy about you, Kit. And yes, we’ve only been together for a little bit, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m serious about this.”

Kit bit his lip into a smile, hoping that he wasn’t as red as the shirt he was wearing. He may’ve been redder, honestly. “I’m more than sure, and I hope you know that I’m serious about this too.”

Bentley smiled when Kit cupped his cheek and kissed it. Kit then walked into the next aisle and made his way all the way down to the end. He stopped in front of something that caught his eye, looking through the selections carefully. There was so much variety he didn’t know where to start. His boyfriend came from the opposite direction and added a laundry hamper to the cart. He then walked up to Kit’s side and Kit wasn’t even surprised when Bentley’s hand found his ass and his lips began sucking on his neck. He spoke just as Bentley squeezed.

“What do you think – ribbed or twisted? Maybe bare skin?”

Bentley froze. It took a second, but he pulled away and turned to see just what Kit was looking at. He was quiet as a few seconds passed, and when Kit turned to face him, he saw Bentley licking his lips.

“We could try a box of each,” Bentley answered. He picked up a box of Trojans and looked at them. “So, does this mean that you’re ready?”

Kit grabbed a bottle of lube and observed it himself. “I think that we should be prepared for when we take that step, don’t you?”

“Yeah.” Bentley looked at Kit and nodded. “We should.”

Kit placed the lube in the cart, and grabbed another box of condoms as well. He smiled, kissed Bentley’s cheek, and pulled the cart off. He could literally feel Bentley’s eyes on his body as he walked away.

When they got to the checkout line, Bentley stood beside him and spoke softly. “Are you staying over tonight?”

Kit turned to him and smiled.  “I think I’m heading back to campus after my shift at your uncle’s shop. I’m helping Saint study in the morning, remember?”

Bentley sighed, but nodded. “So this weekend?”

“We can hang out this weekend.” Kit thought for a moment. “By the way, Don agreed to sell your merch in the store. Isn’t he a sweetheart?”

Bentley nodded; his attention now on the weekly circular. “They have a sale on ice cream. Two-for-$10.”

Kit smirked at him.
