Stirred (A Forbidden Sips Bad Boy Romance) by Sylvia Kane (18)

Bradley listened intensely to the speakers at the meeting, but his attention kept reverting to Victoria. Her reaction to seeing Bradley didn’t go unnoticed by him, and it assured him that he still had the desired effect on her.

His eyes travelled to the neck of her buttoned blouse. If only one more button was undone, he’d have a great view of her cleavage. He breathed in deeply as he remembered the feel of her breasts under his lips, and the way her legs yielded to him as he pushed himself between them.

He caught her glancing at him furtively, and then looking away quickly. You’re hoping I didn’t see that, sugar. Well, I’m onto you.

He rubbed the slight stubble above his jaw line that had grown in since he shaved in the morning, and tried to listen to the presenters at the meeting. He didn’t know it was going to be this hard to concentrate. Victoria’s presence was an aphrodisiac he couldn’t ignore, and he felt his arousal heighten the longer he sat there. He grinned to himself, thanking his lucky stars they were sitting behind tables. He didn’t need everyone to see the evidence of his lust for her.

He listened as the accountant went over the organization’s budget for the year. And then the lawyer as he discussed the ins and outs of some of the board’s proposed plans. He couldn’t wait to get Victoria alone; he was already planning a lot of one-on-one work sessions with her. Preferably at his place, under the covers. Or on the couch. Or against the dining table.

Before he knew it, the meeting was over. Most of the members stuck around a bit to chat with him, but there was only one person he wanted to talk to, and she was standing by the door, waiting to leave. He knew she couldn’t just leave without talking to him; Richard was expecting them to have a talk about the project and exchange contact information. He was quite enjoying this predicament; she wanted him but couldn’t wait to get away from him, for fear of ending up exactly where she knew she wanted to be – under his unrelenting, hard body.

Finally, everyone else filed out of the room, leaving only Bradley, Victoria, and Richard. Richard spoke to him first.

“Welcome again, Bradley. I hope you got a good taste of what we’re all about, and what you can expect to be working on for the next little while.”

“I did, Mr. Laskey, and I could already tell that I’ll enjoy working with the board immensely. I can’t wait to get started on the project. I’ve heard a lot of great things about Victoria already, from the other members.”

Victoria shifted from foot to foot and smiled briefly. “Thanks, Bradley. It’ll be great working with you, I’m sure.”

Bradley flashed her a smile. “In fact, why don’t we get started tonight, if you have another half an hour to spend in the office. Unless, of course, you have other plans.”

Victoria looked from him to Richard. Richard looked so pleased at Bradley’s enthusiasm. “Of course. We can go to my office, if you’d like.”

“That sounds great.”

Richard slapped him on the shoulder. “That’s the spirit! I can already tell that you’ll make a great team. Keep it up! Have a good night. And nice suit, by the way.” He left the room, leaving the door wide open behind him.

Bradley’s smile didn’t leave his face, and it didn’t waver when his eyes met Victoria’s cold gaze.

“What do you think you’re doing?” she hissed at him. Her arms clutched her notebook and laptop so tightly across her chest that Bradley thought she’d snap them in half.

“What do you mean?” He frowned slightly, not expecting this line of questioning from her at all, although he had an idea where she was going with this.

“Did you join the board just to harass me?”

“Harass you? No.”

“Well then, what else could explain this? You just waltzing in here like it’s the most natural thing in the world?”

“How about the fact that I enjoy helping others, especially the less fortunate?” His tone was a little colder than he intended. “I’m a bit insulted that you think so little of me. What, you think that just because I rip my clothes off for women, that I don’t have a heart? Or that I don’t care about anything? I’m almost starting to think that you don’t know me at all. Now please, show me the way to your office.”

Victoria looked like a deer caught in headlights, and Bradley instantly regretted his outburst. He noticed her glancing at his neck and his shirt, and then she looked down. He sighed.

“Sorry, Victoria. I’ve told you before, you’re all I think about. But if you must know, it is a coincidence that I happened to join the same board. When you told me that you were on it too, I had to hold myself back from telling you that I had applied. I wanted it to be a surprise, because I thought you’d be excited. I guess that’s not the case.” He stepped out of the room, looking both ways to make sure no one had been listening.

He realized his heart was racing, and wasn’t sure whether it was because of her accusation, or the fact that she was standing just feet from him. He wanted to reach out and touch her, and take her right there, but they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Her face was still red as she followed him out. She scanned his face.

“Sorry, Bradley. But you have to admit, it’s a big coincidence.”

“It is – maybe it was meant to be this way.” He winked and headed off towards the elevators. “I assume your office is on another floor?”

“Yes,” she said as she hurried behind him. “This floor is occupied solely by boardrooms. It’s a huge firm.”

“Yeah, I figured,” he said, turning to her as he called the elevator. He noticed her eyes had been fixed on his backside, and grinned.

Yeah, I’m gonna make her mine. Tonight.
