After days of cold rain, the sun decided to make a brief appearance. Gray invited Scottie out for a ride. He knew it might be their last for the year as the weather moved deeper into autumn.

Their journey took them along the Welsh coast through small villages and parks. They eventually wound up in a small restaurant Aled had recommended to them. Gray and Scottie had spent quite a bit of time with Wyatt and his husband, as they lived in the same area.

Slowly, Scottie appeared to be learning how to maintain friendships outside of rugby. Gray wondered if he realised how much therapy and staying sober had changed him. His childhood had stunted him in so many ways, and now Scottie was finally beginning to grow up.

“You ever fuck on a bike?” Scottie posed the question casually. “While driving?”

Gray leant forward with his arms resting on the handlebars, turning away from where he’d been checking out the view. They’d pulled off the road onto an overlook not long after leaving the restaurant. “Not while riding. I’ve never had a death wish.”
