The Rules Of Attraction by Khardine Gray (29)

Epilogue

Summer

* * *

Two years later…

Abigale Hemingdale looked exactly like her mother.

I couldn’t get over the striking resemblance. She had the same dainty, pixie features as Eilesh and I swore she even made the same faces as her too.

What I loved most was that I felt the same warmth that I always had from my friend.

“I’m going to have to get you to live with me if this continues.” Eilesh laughed as she watched her one year old daughter circle her little arms around me.

God, I melted every time she did that.

“I will happily move in with you.” I cooed loving this far too much.

“You three always get me.” Cody chimed in circling his arms around Eilesh’s waist.

I smiled at them both feeling the comfort of seeing them, and holding their one year old bundle of joy who was now nibbling on the ends of my ponytail.

Everyone was here.

Here at the grand event Alex and I had planned for the last six months.

Our firm had been up and running for the last eighteen months and doing exceptional.

We’d done more than what we’d both imagined, and we did it all together.

It was time to take the next step though and move to a bigger building to accommodate the growth of our business.

It was also a good time to change the name from Daniels and Sullivan LLP to A & S Sullivan LLP. Alex and Summer Sullivan Limited Liability Practice.

We always said we’d change the name after our second wedding.

Two years ago we tied the knot on Kamalame Cay Beach in Andros, one of the Bahamian islands.

Like with everything about us we knew what we wanted to do so we did it.

We got married while on our vacation.

One of Alex’s bright ideas which I totally agreed with.

Then because everyone kicked up such a fuss about not seeing us get married we promised them we’d do it again the traditional way. So we did that six months ago.

I married the same guy twice and I would happily marry my angel again.

Today was the official ceremony to open our new building which was beautiful. Everyone we knew and loved stood in the function hall enjoying the soft jazz music that played in the background.

Alex’s parents danced in the middle of the floor, while he did a silly one two step with his niece, Katherine.

Preston sat next to his girlfriend of four months talking and laughing with Marc and his fiancé Catarina, who I got on extremely well with.

I smiled as I looked around.

It had been a brilliant afternoon.

One that was memorable.

“You’re guy’s coming over.” Eilesh chuckled.

She moved out of Cody’s embrace to take Abigail from me.

“I’ll see you soon sweet girl.” I kissed her cheek. “And you.” I told Eilesh.

“I hope so. Every time you go away now I wonder what else you’ll shock me with.” She giggled.

Alex and I were going to Brazil tomorrow so we thought we’d get home early tonight.

Everyone was enjoying themselves, and the party was in hand.

“it’s not me, it’s that crazy husband of mine.” I laughed.

“Hey.” Alex said taking my hand. “What’s this business about me being crazy?”

“You hear too much.” I chided.

“Dance with me, angel.” That voice, smooth and alluring was the same, and had the same effect on me as it did that night at the club so long ago.

Eilesh and Cody exchanged conspiratory glances and smiled at us as Alex swept me away.

He took hold of my waist and I circled my arms around his neck, gazing up into his amazing eyes.

“Two years, five months, three days and eight hours. That’s how long I’ve known you for angel.”

“That long?” I beamed.

“That long. How is it that I love you more and more every day?”

“It’s not attraction.” I teased.

“No, no. But it led me here. To you. To this.”

“To this.” I nodded. “To you, the most amazing thing in my world.”

“You too angel. Hey, I was watching you with Abigail.” He smiled. “You looked good with her.”

“I was watching you with Katherine too. You looked good with her.”

“We need one of those.”

“We do.” I agreed.

“One or ten.”

I burst out laughing. “You want us to have ten kids?”

“Why not?” he nodded.

“You are so crazy.”

“Crazy for you.” He nuzzled against the side of my face and kissed me. “How about we get out of here and start on the baby making.”

“We can’t have ten kids.”

“Summer, if we get a head start now it may be possible.”

I laughed feeling joy bubble within me as he took my hand and led me away.

I loved him more everyday too.

Every second, of every minute, of every hour in the day strengthened it.

The best thing was knowing that he loved me too.

Knowing that he was mine and I was his, and we weren’t just in love, we had everything.

We were soulmates.

Forever.
