Heath’s golden gaze darkens as he looks directly at me. His fork clatters to the plate and he stands, placing his knuckles on the table before he leans over. “You mine?” he barks.

“You declared it, and moved me in, so I guess so,” I snap.

He growls, baring his teeth like an animal and I assume it’s supposed to frighten me, but it doesn’t. I slowly lower my own fork, before pushing my chair back and stand as well, but I don’t lean over the table.

Crossing my arms beneath my chest, I narrow my eyes. “Heath, you are seriously deranged if you think this arrangement we’ve fallen into means marriage.”

I watch as a muscle in his jaw twitches and his eyes stay narrowed and dark on me. “Arrangement? Like I’m just playing around, or maybe that’s what you’re doing?”

“We’re brand new Heath, let’s not argue about something that doesn’t even matter yet,” I whisper, dropping my arms.

His eyes flick down at my arms before they come back up. “Come over here,” he grinds out.

My feet move, shuffling over to his side of the table. He reaches out and cups my cheek when I am in front of him. Heath’s thumb runs along the bottom of my lip, his eyes gazing directly into my own.

“Pissed me off, thinking you were about to reject me,” he rasps.

Her head jerks, and her eyes widen. “What?”
