Blank Canvas: Diva's Ink by Liberty Parker (17)

Dillon

The two times I want to be with you, now and forever…

Arriving in the Bahamas, I’m still on alert. In my head I know we’re on safe, neutral grounds, but my only care at all times is keeping my woman and child well and cared for. We get our luggage and go out to hail two cabs since we can’t all fit in one. I hate being separated from the others, but there is no shuttle going to the hotel we’ll be staying at. I did some research and found the safest, most secure hotel in the Bahamas. We chartered our flights on the Rage Ryders’ credit cards, and I wired the money to the club’s account to reimburse them for fronting the money. They didn’t have to do that, but Wasp insisted, feeling like it was the safest route to take so we couldn’t be traced…we hope.

I’ve never had to run from someone like this before, so this situation is entirely new for me, letting them lead me in the right direction has eased some of my fears. They’ve had to deal with these types of situations before, so I’ll take any and all advice they have to offer me. Once we’re in the cab and heading away from the airport, I pull Ariel into the safety of my arms and thank whoever is watching out for us that no one has been hurt by this person.

We arrive at the hotel first, beating the others. I get our luggage out and pay our cabbie sending him on his way. With our luggage at our feet and my woman in my arms we wait patiently for the others to arrive. Not even five-minutes later their cab pulls up and they begin to exit. The women come and stand with Ariel and I go over and help the guys grab their luggage. Their cab was a mini-van so they all rode together, giving Ariel and I a bit of privacy and alone time. Even if all we did was snuggle into each other and enjoy the peace and quiet of the drive.

Once everyone is squared away we go and check in. Once again, the women are off to the side huddled in a circle talking, most likely making a plan of some sort. I’ve learned I’m better off not asking and just following what they say…it makes my life ten times easier to navigate. We have two suites—each suite has two bedrooms attached to it. Ariel and I will be sharing with Rainey, Levi and Carson, for added security detail. Marcus, Emory and Glory will be directly across from us in theirs. I can’t help but feel sorry for the poor guy. I won’t shoot a gift horse in its mouth, so I say nothing. Once we get settled we gather in our living room and make plans for dinner. “We could always eat at the hotel’s restaurant,” I say to the room at large.

“I want to go out and explore the town,” Glory says.

“We can still go out and check out the surroundings once we’re finished eating.”

“Let’s compromise,” Ariel speaks up. “We’ll eat here tonight, get a couple of hours of sightseeing in and we can eat out tomorrow and do more exploring then.”

“I can get down with that,” Levi says. We get up and head downstairs.

I’m stuffed, dinner was exceptional. I had stuffed trout, grilled asparagus and corn on the cob. I’ve never been on a vacation in my lifetime, Dad never saw the need in spending useless money and then I was in school, then interning, then straight to work at the hospital. Deciding that I’m not going to live in the past, I grab Ariel’s hand and intertwine our fingers. We follow the others in and out of shops looking and purchasing small knick-knacks and t-shirts to memorialize our trip. We even end up with matching shirts—Ariel and I, not all of the others.

Shop after shop—we go into, I’m really trying to be patient, but this is the most shopping I’ve ever done in my lifetime…and I find that I truly don’t like it. I’m a man, when I go shopping I go in, get what I need and get out. The crowds are enough to have my skin crawling, I don’t feel like I’m doing a very good job of keeping an eye on anyone who comes our way.

“Ariel, baby, should you really be on your feet for this long of a period of time?” I ask her, hoping that she’ll be ready and willing to leave.

“I’m fine, Dillon, I’m having a great time.” Of course, she is.

“You’ve had a long day, baby, I think that another hour and we should get you back to the room and get into bed. The flight alone should cause you to be resting.”

“Dillon, if you and the guys want to go back to wait on us, we’ll be fine. Surely the wacko didn’t follow us all the way here.”

“Nah, babe, I’m good, was just worried about you.” I feel like I should be stomping my foot like a man-child and demanding she leave and get to the safety of our room.

“I know you must be bored, maybe tomorrow you guys can do your thing and us women can do ours.”

“Not happening, I’ll shut up now…promise.”

“If you’re sure,” she says with a twinkle in her eye. The little minx loves it when she gets her way and I give in.

“I’m sure,” I say. I cross my arms over my chest and give her a serious look, so she knows no matter how childish I’m acting right now, she’s not getting away from me. Glory is looking over at us with a smile on her face. Damn woman is enjoying this shit way too much.

“Seriously, Dillon, we’re in a new place. We want to take some trinkets home to remind us of our travels.” Glory just has to put her two cents in.

“Yeah, Glory, I get it,” I say, pouting like a sullen child causing her to giggle at me. I’m learning that my angelic teacher isn’t such an angel after all. She’s got horns buried under her scalp somewhere. Damn devil in disguise!

Once we’d finally had our feel of shopping for the evening we go back to the hotel with plans of meeting up the following morning downstairs at ten for a quick brunch then we would head off ‘exploring’ as the women call it. Which translates to me as more shopping and less tourist-type activities. Crawling into bed next to Ariel I grab her and pull her into my arms for a peaceful night’s slumber.

The next three days we do nothing but walk and explore the small town near the resort we’re staying at. My feet are sore, and my blisters have blisters, you’d think I’d be used to being on my feet since I spend the majority of the time on them. This gives a whole new meaning to ‘shop till you drop’, because I have fallen into a deep, coma-type sleep the last few nights. The only time I’ve been able to make love to my woman is when we’re alone in the shower each morning. I’d really love to have the time to touch and taste every inch of her. But by the time we make it back to the room at night, we’re both too exhausted to lift a finger let alone have the energy it requires to have sex.

I’m lying in bed this morning too sleepy to move a muscle from this spot. Now if I could get my bossy, energetic woman to give me some peace and quiet I’d be a happy man.

“C’mon, babe, we have to get up to meet the others for breakfast, then we’re heading down to spend the day at the beach,” she says while shaking my shoulders trying to get a reaction out of me.

“Too tired, woman, get back in bed with me and we’ll do breakfast on our own and meet them later. Need sleep, at least another couple of hours, baby.”

“Oh. My. God! Would you get up and stop whining already?” she asks exasperatingly to me. “This is our vacation, Dillon, we can sleep and relax when we get back home. I want to enjoy this time with you and my family.”

“You women are like god damned Hitler with all of your dictates and demands. I need sleep woman!” I tell her in annoyance.
