Getting Together
Never had she seen such a romantic table set for two. It was amazing that he’d gone through so much trouble for her. It made her feel bad that she was so shy and unsure of herself. Once he sat he began to remove the lids from everything on the table. She was unfamiliar with the dishes, but the smell now was stronger and oh so savory. “What is it?”
“I chose pork loin Capperi for you and veal Bolognese for me. If you don’t like yours, I’ll trade with you. I love both of them equally. Take a taste.”
Cutting a small portion, she popped it in her mouth and moaned. “This is heaven.”

The Mazlans boarded, fed, and took care of the health needs of all their soldiers. Boots and one pair of shoes a year were also issued.
Razar had decided to do that when he found out how poor most of the humans he hired were. She’d always thought he was a kind male. Now she was sure of it. As a race, the Mazlans seemed nicer than most humans she’d met on Earth. Here where most needs were seen to, the humans she’d met were better.
Looking down, she realized she was almost finished with her meal. Even the asparagus and rice pilaf were nearly gone. “I’m glad to see you like it. Here’s a bite of mine. That way we’ll see if you like it for next time.”
She took it eagerly wanting to try this exotic dish. It was completely different yet just as good in its own way. “That was wonderful too.”
“Did you try the bread?” He asked.
She looked around the table and found a basket holding a white bread. Getting a piece and slathering butter on it, she was amazed at how different it was than the bread she’d had at home. Another piece was needed just to run a true comparison.
“It’s Italian bread.” He informed.
His dark golden eyes glowed with happiness at pleasing her. They reminded her of the embers that glowed as a fire died down. It was then that she realized many of his kind were named after something that had to do with fire. Even Tar who was named after something that fueled fire. She wondered why, but was too busy enjoying her meal to ask. Especially when he presented dessert.
“This is Tiramisu ala Michael. It’s good before, but add the coffee liqueur and it’s fabulous.” He set it in front of her and watched as she took her first bite.
She moaned in pure delight. “This is amazing. How do you know so much about food?”
“Phoenix are what Ladonna calls foodies. She says it’s an Earth term so maybe you are familiar with it?” He asked.
“I’ve never heard it, but going just by the word itself I guess it means you guys like food of all kinds?”
“Exactly. Since I’ve been around Ladonna I’ve added to my recipes books. I asked her for some suggestions and I tried them out before I had the kitchen fix them for us.”
“That girl knows her stuff. I’ve never eaten so much at once.” She eyed her half eaten dessert. “Will it keep for later?”
“Of course. It will keep for a while. What do you want to do now?” He leered at her.
“I believe you know.”
