The Alpha Daddy's Nanny (Oak Mountain Shifters) by Leela Ash (15)

“I can’t believe you assholes didn’t tell me what was going on. You realize this affects everything, don’t you? My family for fuck’s sake!”

Bruce hadn’t realized just how angry and passionate he was getting until the man on the other side of the table flinched away. He was clearly an omega and had gone into the business to try to keep himself feeling bigger than he was. But when encountering Bruce, who was definitely the right size for his role in the pack, it became obvious that all the bureaucratic power he held meant nothing in the real scheme of things.

“I’m sorry, we thought we would be able to handle it before things got out of hand. But…”

“But you didn’t. this has been going on for months and you didn’t tell me! Nobody did! It’s a miracle I don’t fire every single one of you!”

The man looked terrified and cowered away and Bruce scowled at him, sickened by the display of weakness.

“If you can’t help me get rid of this problem, then the lot of you are useless. I understand why you may not have seen the need to alert me at home with something like this, but at this point it is crucial we clean this mess up before it gets out of hand. Do you understand me?”

“Of course! I’m so sorry. It will never happen again. it just got out of hand and…”

“You’re damn right it won’t happen again,” Bruce said, cutting the man off. He couldn’t stand to listen to the guy’s voice anymore. He was sick of it all. “You aren’t going to be the type of team I need if you keep anything this huge from me without having the balls to clean up your messes before word gets back to me about it. Now follow this plan word for word or it will be your ass.”

Bruce thrust a folder full of the papers outlining his action plan at the man. He scrambled to retrieve them and gathered them on his desk, staring with wide, fearful eyes at Bruce. Bruce scowled and went on his way back into his office.

“I can’t believe these incompetent morons,” Bruce grumbled, sitting down behind his desk. “Do you think I made of money or something? Do something like this wouldn’t be an issue? That’s ridiculous.”

Fortunately, it was an intelligent man who had quickly come up with a solution for the business end of the spectrum. What he was really worried about was fighting off the inevitable attack on his company or his family. Not only that, but there was clearly more within the company that he had to smoke out. That was going to be the hardest part.

He quickly set to work on a plan of action his mind on getting really whoever he might associate with who could ties with the Dragon shifters. He began to scour through the company emails in search of anything suspicious. Everything seemed normal until suddenly one particular article caught his eye. It was encoded, and not in any of the codes Bruce’s IT team had concocted.

He immediately pulled up the file of the man whose email he had discovered and found that he was a recent fire and had gone through all the same interview process as many of the other employees had. So that applied to Bruce that perhaps he had another mole working on his interview team.

When he did a little bit more digging, he discovered they were probably collaborators with the Dragon shifters and quickly summoned them to his office.

“Did you really think you would be able to pull this over my head for very long?” He asked immediately once both men were present in front of his desk.

The men shifted and exchanged glances before looking back at Bruce silently. Finally, one of them spoke. It was the one who was part of the HR department, who had done the hiring.

“I’m not sure what you’re talking about? And I’m not sure this gentleman here does either. What’s going on?”

Bruce’s bear shifter senses were at once alerted to insincerity, and his eyes flashed. He had to do everything he could not to shift into his bear form right then and there and apart for their treason. But he managed to keep himself under control. After all, this was still a business environment. He had to play by all the rules just like everybody else. Even if there was come among him.

“You know exactly what is going on. He thought I would stay at home with my kids and being on the wiser, right? Because I had been gone for a while on leave to make sure my family was taken care of, you thought you saw an opportunity to strike? Well whoever you’re working for, you need to go back and tell them that whatever sick plan you guys are coming up with will fail. Whether you like it or not, this project will never leave my office. You’ll never have the access to it that you need. Not only that, but you will never get what it is you want from me. I’m going to see to it that everybody in this office is far more careful. I’m going to do all the hiring myself. So, tell your dragon scum leader that all of this was for nothing.”

The two men still didn’t speak, as if they were afraid to admit he was right. However, the look of guilt on their faces said it all. When they turned to leave Bruce let out a low growl. “If I ever see your faces in this building again or anywhere near anything to do with my Corporation, that will be the last time you see anything. Understand?”

The man glared, but nodded, and Bruce nodded back. At least that took care of one problem. Now, he had to make sure his children and Victoria would be safe. That was probably going to be the hardest part. He would be able to do that in the office, but he knew he couldn’t take any more time off work. He would have to try his best to be both places at once somehow. However that happened to be.
