The Soldier Went South: An Mpreg Romance by W. Mae Smith, Ashton Stellys (5)

Rory

I stepped off the plane, instantly feeling the chill from the cold Canadian December air. I was not expecting it to be this bad. I hustled through the slow walking citizens with big furry coats. I had a sweater and jeans on but they really did nothing for the extreme difference in temperature that I was experiencing. All I had was a small tote bag of toiletries. All my winter clothes were stashed away at my parent’s house. “Excuse me, ‘cuse me” I cleared my throat and almost shoved an old Asian couple right over. I was actually freezing. I needed to get into my heated car and into my winter storage containers ASAP.

I finally arrived to the car rental kiosk huffing, puffing and shivering. The agent eyed me up and down as if I was a homeless person. I ignored his judgmental eyes, giving him the benefit of the doubt. I was completely underdressed and coming from international arrivals with a tiny bag carrying almost nothing, I did look a bit suspicious.

“Good afternoon, sir.” He said politely.

“Hi there, just looking to rent a car for the next couple weeks.” I whipped out my ID’s, including drivers license and visa. He smiled and accepted it. After going through routine Q&A he handed over the keys and pointed me in the direction of the vehicle.

I threw my bags in the back and waited desperately and impatiently for the car to heat up. “Come on, come on,” I watched the now luke warm air blast through the cold frost that impaired my vision on all six windows. When I could finally see through the front window, and was no longer shaking, I put the sedan into gear and headed off to my parent’s house to find some clothes.

Luckily my parents were out of town visiting my grandparents, who were too old to make the trip to come see us on holidays anymore. They left a note on the refrigerator for my arrival.

Rory, We’ll be home on Christmas Eve, food in the fridge, your clothes bins are in the living room ready for you. Have fun this weekend! xox Mom and Dad

How cute. I told my mom I was going to meet with Justin this week. She had only met him a couple times briefly when we were dating. She liked him but she knew how sad he had made me when he broke it off to join the army, and she was weary of me making the same mistake twice.

I opened the fridge and pulled out some ham and cheese. I made a quick sandwich and began eating it while sorting through my winter clothes. When I was done with my sandwich and sorting I looked at the time. It was just after 6pm, the Air B’n’B was close by. I wanted to check in first and set my things up before I picked up Justin from the airport. I was starting to get nervous.

The Air B’n’B was adorable. It was a one-bedroom apartment about a block away from the heart of the city. The apartment building was only two stories high and had tall oak trees surrounding it. It was quaint; a perfect place to shack up for the next couple of days. There was a 2 by 2 balcony over looking the sidewalk and a tiny café across the street. I pictured us sitting there, talking, sipping cappuccinos. It was almost 7pm. Justin would be landing soon.

I looked out over the little city’s dark streets. Now I was terrified. I tried not to freak myself out too much and tried thinking about what we could do after we dropped off his bags. My mind didn’t get very far. All I could think about was ripping his shirt off and running a hand over his strong muscular chest the minute he put his bags down. My mind was drifting off into dreamland full of images of Justin and the things we could do together when the phone rang.

“Hello?”

“Hey you, I just got in.” It was Justin. I shook my head and snapped back to reality.

“How was your flight?”

“It was ok, I just can’t wait to take a hot shower.” That image danced in my head for a moment…

“Don’t worry I’m on my way, you’ll be in a hot shower in no time!” I grabbed my keys and hopped in my rental car. I felt a sense of calm as I drove to see him. But I was also terrified as all hell.

I parked in the ‘pick up’ zone and walked to where the arrivals came through. I felt like I was high on drugs; I didn’t know how to act or feel. My heart was racing and my hands were clammy. I pretended to be interested in something on my phone so my eyes had something to focus on. People began flooding through the gates. In the next moment I looked up from my phone and there he was.

He was so tall and handsome. His shirt clung to his broad chest. His hair was short, freshly buzzed. He looked so manly. He was aimlessly looking around, holding his army issued duffel bag in one hand, rubbing his nose with the other. God, he was sexy.

Any questions or fears I had before that moment went straight out the window. I jumped up out of my seat. “Justin!” He looked in my direction, spotting me, raising his eyebrow with a smirk. He was clearly trying to keep his smile under control.

Walking over to me with giant strides and without saying anything he placed his strong hand on the back of my neck sliding it up through my hair and forcefully pulled me towards him, kissing me long and hard. My body melted away. When he released me I felt like liquid. I bent my knees slightly and leaned back so I could look up into his eyes. “Hi,” I finally managed to mumble through intoxicated lips.

“Hi,” he smiled a toothless smile and looked down at me. “I’m so happy to see you again.”

“Me too.” I felt shy all of a sudden. “Lets get you into that hot shower.” I told him and quickly turned around walking in the direction of the car. I could feel his eyes burning a hole in my ass. I worked it with each step. He’s going to be mine. I’ll make him my alpha this time around.
