Alpha Series: Alpha Landon by Midika Crane (13)

Walking back into that dining room was one of the worst things I have ever done. Not because everyone knew immediately that I was now a marked female, but because Cyrus looked so happy to see me, even though I had walked in with Landon and Alden.

"Shall we continue?" Alden asks, as we took our seats again. Natasha leant over and whispered in Landon's ear. Obviously, I didn't catch what she had said, but Landon didn't seem too happy about it. He shook his head, frowning deeply. Melia just sat there, as Alden once again slung his arm over Melia's shoulder.

It seemed as though Cyrus and Melia were getting along quite well, which was unnerving Alpha Alden. I, on the other hand was too busy dealing with my own problems. All I could feel was the mark on my neck, stinging and burning slightly. Luckily, I was seated right next to Landon, so it wasn't bothering me too much.

"Althea, I was talking to Alden while you were gone. He said that there would be plenty of room here in this Pack for us," Cyrus said suddenly, making the whole table go quiet. This conversation obviously was exchanged before Alden found out I was mated to Landon.

I felt Landon stiffen next to me, not at all pleased by what Cyrus was insinuating.

"You want me to move here?" I question. I didn't really want to ask this, because we weren't even mated. Moving in together was something that wasn't even addressed till a pair was mated. Cyrus shrugged carelessly.

"Eventually. I think this is a great place to start a-"

"A what, sorry?" Landon cut in. I glanced warily at him, to see he was gritting his teeth, his jaw clenching beyond belief. I could see in his eyes that he was beyond livid, even though expression remained moderately impassive, which was much more intimidating.

"What's not to love about the Power Pack?" I question, cutting in before Cyrus can say something stupid, that would surely ruin everything. The stare off between Landon and Cyrus was frightening, but I seemed to be the only one noticing it fully. Natasha was too busy checking out Alden. Alden was too busy checking out Melia. Melia was too busy not caring...

"There isn't anything wrong with it. I was just thinking, that maybe branching out would be better for the both of us," Cyrus explained. Even as he said that, he wasn't looking at me, but Landon. I rolled my eyes, knowing neither of the Wolves were paying any attention to me.

"Althea isn't leaving the Pack," Landon said deeply, his voice so intimidating, it sent a shiver up my spine. Cyrus narrowed his eyes, like he was expecting the challenge that Landon was issuing.

"What makes you think that?" Cyrus questions. I sigh.

"I am the Alpha, and I'm mated to Al-"

"So how long is this lunch supposed to go on for, because I am expected somewhere for dinner, and we need to get back in time," Natasha says, cutting Landon off completely. I let out a sigh of relief, glad for her random intervention that truly saved me.

"We should leave now. Thank you, Alden, for your hospitality," Landon said, pushing his chair back so he could stand. We all followed suit.

Our departure was quick. The tension between us all was obvious. After thanking Alden, and saying goodbye to Melia, we piled into the car again, and set off.

I was glad to be away from that Pack, hoping silently that Landon and Cyrus wouldn't talk to each other for the rest of the ride back home. That wish wasn't completely in vain, considering they weren't the real problem.

I was stuck in the backseat with Landon again, who was trying to make conversation with me. I wanted to talk to him, but every time I opened my mouth, I saw Cyrus's eyes flicker up to he mirror, so he could see into the backseat. So instead, I sat with my arms crossed, staring out the window at the endless countryside.

"Do you not have any music in this metal death-trap?" Natasha asked Cyrus from the front seat. I looked up, wishing I could see the whole of Cyrus's face. All I could see was Cyrus's eyebrows crease together in the rear-view mirror.

"Maybe in the glove box," he mumbled. I watched as Natasha blandly shuffled through disks in the compartment. I didn't understand what her problem was, considering the fact that we had driven all the way there without any issues. She plucks one out, looking over it with interest.

"Can you speed up a bit, you're going to slow," Natasha orders, taking the disk from its cover. I lean forward, looking between the two seats.

"Shut up would you," I snap. I wanted to say that I didn't intend to say that, but really, I did. Natasha feel deathly silent, before turning in my seat to look me dead in the eye.

There is something unnerving frightening about coming eye to eye with a snake, who you know is probably going to kill you, but you aren't too scared to it. Instead, all you want to do is punch it square in the jaw.

"Excuse me?" She spluttered. She looked as though I had just insulted her great ancestors, or had just stolen from her family's private bank account. Nobody else in the car dare spoke, as I death stared the girl in the front seat.

"You heard me; shut up. Nobody wants to hear you complain," I exclaim I'm disgust. Natasha sits back in her seat, after staring me down for an unpleasant amount of time. Wordlessly, she tosses the CD back onto the ground.

It was obvious that the little Queen wasn't used to being talked to like that, and I took great pleasure I'm dishing it to her on a silver platter...

"You're only saying things to impress Landon," she whispered under her breath. I only just caught what she had mumbled, but it was enough to send me hurling over the seat. Soon enough I had her silky hair fisted in my hand.

"Woah," Landon said in surprise from behind me, grabbing my arms. Cyrus swerved ridiculously across the road, acting in shock from my sudden attack on Natasha. Landon attempted to pry Natasha's hair from my tight grip, but I wasn't having it, trying to elbow him away from me.

"Get off me bitch," Natasha snapped, trying to fight me off. Cyrus pulled to the side of the road, the back wheels skidding on gravel. A car honked their horn in protest from behind us, before speeding past. Landon had managed to get one hand off Natasha, intertwining his fingers with one.

"Al, calm down," Landon coaxed firmly, but his voice was baby soft. I couldn't believe this...He was calming me down already, which I didn't want at all. Meanwhile, Cyrus had come to a complete stop at the side of the road.

In a hurry, I ripped my hands from her hair, enjoying her hiss of pain. I cracked the door open, and stepped outside onto the road, before rounding the car. Cyrus watched me with disbelief, obviously surprised considering he had never seen me like this before.

Fiercely, Natasha stepped out, coming to face me square on. Her make-up was smudged across her face, and her hair was ruffled slightly. I wasn't scared of her at all.

"Is this what you want? To fight me for Landon? Because bitch I wil-"

I cut her off by punching her square in the jaw.

She stumbled back, clutching her face in surprise. I was even slightly surprised that I even had the strength in me for to throw such a punch. I watched as Landon brushed past me, moving over to see if Natasha was badly hurt.

"Get off me," she hissed, brushing Landon away. She looked at me again her eyes blazing with the exact same anger that was streaming through my veins. She takes a shuddering step forward, and I glance over her shoulder at the ditch behind her, filled with dirty water.

With an idea in my head, I step forward till there was hardly any space between us. I was about to push on her shoulders, and send her toppling into the water, but I felt hands on my waist, pulling me away from the current situation.

"It's okay," I say, dismissing Cyrus, how had a strong hold on my waist, as he tried to keep me from attacking Natasha again. I turned in his grip and looked at him. He looked terrified; probably of me.

"Are you okay now?" He asked in my ear. I nod, pulling away slightly. Landon was making sure Natasha wasn't damaged, although we all knew she was already sufficiently messed up mentally.

I could feel his disapproval, when he saw Cyrus's proximity to me.

"We should go now, and if you two fight again, you are both dead," Landon growled.
