Big Daddy: A Mountain Man's Baby Romance by Rye Hart (14)

CHAPTER 13 - CHANCE

I couldn’t believe the accident we’d had and how fucking awkward that had been. At least she didn’t freak out about it, and I was sure things would be fine. Not to mention, the feeling of pumping her pussy full of my seed was amazing.

Besides, that it was nice waking up with her in my arms. It had been a long time since a woman had wanted to stay the night after seeing me without my leg. It had also been a long time since that had been something I had wanted myself.

She was so warm and sweet next to me that I hated to get up. I breathed in her scent and kissed her hair, leaving her to sleep as I got up to make breakfast.

I eased to the edge of the bed and strapped on my leg before standing, careful not to wake her. I pulled on a pair of sweats and slipped out to go downstairs to scrounge for something to cook.

Once the bacon was in the pan and the aroma had wafted its way through the house, I turned around and found her standing in the doorway with the sheet from my bed wrapped around her like a toga.

“I’m sorry, but I didn’t want to put on my uniform, and I don’t want to dig around in your things for something to wear.”

“Oh, shit. I’m sorry. I should have thought about that and left you something.” I was sorry, but not too sorry. She looked so good my cock stood at attention, and I pulled the eggs from the pan as she came over and gave me a kiss.

“It’s okay. You can find me something after we eat. I’ll wash your sheets for you.”

“Not until we mess them up again, I hope.”

“You’re so bad.” She slipped her hand into my sweats and stroked my hard cock. “Oh, you’re very bad.” She giggled, and I flexed, making my cock jerk in her hand.

“Careful, it might bite. You should set the table. This is coming off the fire soon.”

She walked to the cabinet and pulled out a couple of plates. “Have you talked to Star? Is she coming home today?”

“No. She is supposed to be staying with Cynthia another night.” I scraped the eggs onto our plates and then carried over a couple slices of bacon.

“I bet you miss her.”

I nodded. “I do, actually. But it was nice to have some adult time last night too,” I said. “I mean, if she’d have been here, I wouldn’t have been able to make you scream like that.”

“I didn’t scream,” she said, shaking her head and biting her bottom lip.

My balls started to feel heavy all over again. “Oh, but you did. Want me to prove it to you?”

She looked past me to the food on the counter and licked her lips. “I think I’m going to need to get my strength up first.”

I served her us both our breakfast and we sat and ate. She asked more about my job and I told her of the few more interesting prostheses I’d developed over the past year. She ate heartily and hung on my every word.

“I think what you are doing is so amazing, Chance. Giving people the opportunity to live their lives without limitations, is truly a gift,” she said.

I nodded. “It really is,” I agreed. “What about you? You had a job helping people too. Do you miss it?” I asked.

“I do, but there’s no way I can do it anymore. I’d have to give people my real name and that would just make it easier for Nick to track me down.”

I sat up straight and looked at her. “Wait, you mean Dream isn’t your real name?”

She smiled and shook her head. “It’s my middle name actually, but I’ve always liked it better than my first name anyway.”

“So what’s your first name?” I couldn’t help but ask.

She made a face and said, “Jessica.”

“What’s wrong with that?” I asked, laughing. “From the look you gave me, I thought you were going to say it was Bertha or something like that.”

She giggled and shook her head. “No, it’s just that Jessica is so boring. Not to mention it’s what Nick called me. I don’t think I could ever hear another man call me that again.”

I nodded. “I get that. Besides, Dream suits you better,” I said, reaching out to brush a strand of hair from her eyes.

“This is a nice town to put down roots. If Nick wasn’t a factor, would you? You know, put down roots here in Buffalo?”

“It is a nice place, isn’t it? I love the painted brick downtown and the old town style.”

“I like it too.”

She finished her food and then sat back in her chair. Her sheet was starting to sag, and she held it up tight against her front as she sipped the last of her coffee.

I reached over and gave it a tug, and it fell open. She gave me a look, her brow raising.

“I just want another look at you.” I passed the phone to her. “Call Liza, and let her know what’s up.”

She dialed the number and put the phone to her ear as my eyes lingered down her body. I could never get enough of her. Not in a million years. I found myself growing too close too soon, and I knew it was going to be a problem when Star came home.

“Hey, Liza. I’m sorry about yesterday. Yeah, I’m fine. I’ve been with him all night.” She rolled her eyes and though I couldn’t hear what Liza was saying, by the blush staining Dream’s face, I had a good idea that she was asking if we’d slept together.

“Go ahead and tell her it was amazing.”

I shook my head, and she reached out and slapped my arm. “You’re both horrible.” She watched as I stood, and then I went to the sink with our plates and rinsed them off, and she put Liza on speaker.

“He thinks I should stay here a bit and well, I have to agree. I can’t help but think he already is looking for me at your place and the diner, so I should probably stay away a while. Also, I’m not going to be able to come into the diner.”

“Shit, girl. You can’t quit. I’ll give you some time and say you called in sick; terrible flu and all that, it will buy you some time and that way, Harold can’t make me replace you. The new girl is working out, and she’ll appreciate the extra hours.”

“Thank you, Liza. I’m hoping Nick just thinks I split again and goes away. Until then, Chance needs to come by and get my things.”

“Although, she does look amazing in my bedsheet.” I felt something hit my back as she threw a placemat across the room at me.

“Stop it,” she mouthed.

“Well, good for you, girl,” Liza said, get some for me too, eh?

“You two are impossible. Look, he’s coming to get my things, I can’t come with him, so if you could gather them up for me, I’d appreciate it. I’ll still help with the rent, and if this thing blows over, I’ll be back, okay.”

The two continued their talk as I went to gather a few things for her to wear while I was gone. I found a US Navy T-shirt and a pair of sweats and left them on the bed and then I got myself dressed to go downtown to the post and to Liza’s.

She walked up behind me and put her arms around my waist. “Thank you, Chance.” I turned around and pulled her close.

“You’re very welcome.” I brought my mouth to hers and kissed her deeply. “Hang out, do whatever you want, but don’t answer the door or go outside just in case he decided to track my vehicle yesterday. If he’s desperate, he might go house to house. And I’d take you along, but I don’t think you should be around town just yet. Not until I hear back from my friend, at least. Call my cell phone if you need me.”

She brought her lips to my ear and kissed my lobe, then she whispered, “I need you.”

“Mm. I’ll try to hurry back. Don’t go anywhere. I left you those clothes. They’ll be huge on you, but at least you’ll be warm. You’re welcome to use my washer for your clothes.” I hated leaving her there alone, but I knew it was for the best.

“I’ll be waiting.” She closed her eyes and kissed me, her pouty lips moving softly against mine.

I hurried downstairs and got my package and then headed down to UPS. While I was on my way, I looked everywhere for Nick’s car but didn’t see him anywhere. Once I had the leg safely shipped off, I went to Liza’s and found her sitting on her porch, a cigarette dangling from her mouth. She quickly snuffed it out when she saw me coming.

“Sorry, I don’t smoke often, and never in my house, but this shit with Dream’s ex has me on edge.”

“I understand, and it’s okay. We all have our vices, I suppose. I like a good bottle of bourbon now and then.” I followed her into the house where a little boy was sleeping peacefully in this playpen.

“Brady wore himself out, and he’s missing Dream like crazy. Tell her he sends his love. And I just want to thank you for taking such good care of her. She’s a good girl, you know. I know it’s not my place, but I think maybe all this is happening for a reason.” The woman was much more animated than I’d ever seen her and I was sure it was her nerves. “I think the two of you were made for each other; kindred spirits kind of stuff.”

“I won’t disagree we are pretty good together.”

“Well, you just take good care of her, you hear me? If her ex finds her, things could get ugly and she doesn’t deserve any more of that.”

I agreed with her wholeheartedly, and if I had my way, it would never come to that. I went in and gathered Dream’s things and tossed them in my truck before heading back home. I couldn’t wait to see what she looked like in my clothes. Or better yet, what she looked like out of them.
