Havoc by Laramie Briscoe (19)

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Leighton

I can’t believe I just said what I did. Telling him we can go home and he can blow his load inside of me. I’ve never been so brazen before, never let this part of my personality out to play. The things this man does to me should be illegal in all fifty states and the damn District of Columbia.

“Should we have gone in and said goodbye to everyone?” I ask as we drive along the backroads toward our home.

He sets the cruise, then braces his feet on the floorboard of the truck, lifting up as he pulls at the crotch of his jeans. He groans when I suspect he gets a little breathing room in the tightness of the fabric. “Trust me, the way we were all over each other in there, I’m pretty sure they understand where we’ve gone and why.”

“Were we that bad?” I ask, embarrassed with the way I acted in public, behind a bar. I’ve never been that out of control before, never had a man make me feel the way he made me feel in those crazy moments of abandon. I can’t even blame it on the alcohol I’ve consumed. I wanted him, wanted him to do what he did to me, wanted to do what I did to him.

His dark eyes glow in the light thrown at us from the dashboard of the truck as he looks at me. His gaze is feral, turned on, dangerous. Holy hell it’s a danger I want to be a part of. When he speaks, his voice is ragged against vocal chords that sound shredded. “I can taste you, I can smell you, and I can still feel your body against mine. That started over two hours ago, Leigh. Everybody in that bar knows exactly what we’re going home to do.”

I glance over at the man who just had his fingers inside me, who made me come apart in his arms. No one has ever made me feel the way he does. I’ve always held myself tight and strong, never allowing anyone to see the real me beneath the skin. The one who feels, wants, and desires the things normal women do. For so long I’ve had to hide who I really am. It feels good to know with this man, I can truly be me. And he appreciates me for who I am.

“Are we really going to do this when we get to the house?” he asks, gripping the steering wheel. “Once we take this step, Leigh, we can’t go back from it. I know myself,” he reaches over, grasping my hand in his, “once I’ve had a taste, I’m not letting you go.”

“Perfect.” I shoot him what I hope is a sexy-as-sin grin. I’m not playing a part; I want this, but I’ve never been the type of girl to ever get what I want. Knowing I can finally have this? It’s a fear and a mind-blowing moment at the same time. One I’ve never known, one I never hoped for. “Once I have a taste of you, I’m not letting you go, either.”

It’s important to me to make a claim on him. Somewhere in the middle of this crazy life we’ve been living, I’ve come to crave him. I’ve come to live my life for him, with him, and I can’t see myself letting him go. If I have to, I’m not sure I’ll ever get over it. It will completely wreck and destroy me, and I’ve had enough of that to last a lifetime.

As he pulls into our driveway and parks, he shuts the truck off. I run my hands against my thighs, shivering as my skin responds, still hyper stimulated from the bar.

“You sure you want to do this?” he asks one last time, his eyes boring into mine. He keeps his hands on the steering wheel and I can see the whiteness of his knuckles, showing me the superhuman grip he has on his control.

“I’ve never been more sure about anything in my life. I want to be with you, have wanted to be with you since the first moment I saw you.”

He glances over at me. “You mean when you kissed the shit out of me in Birmingham?”

“No,” I grin, shaking my head, “the first time you ever came to my house and questioned my dad and grandfather. I stood there, in the corner, watching as you did your best to treat them with respect, even though they were being assholes to you. You were one of the best looking men I’d ever seen in my life, but I knew I was too young. I’m not sure why we’ve come to be in each other’s lives the way we are. There’s a part of me, though, that wonders if it wasn’t meant to happen this way.”

He’s quiet for a long moment, and I wonder if I’ve said too much.

“Ya know, I’ve wondered that too.” He plays with his keyring. “We’ve consistently been put in each other’s path, or in each other’s lives for years. I’m not sorry I made the decision to marry you.”

My heart flutters in a way I never imagined possible, because I never thought I’d have this with any man, much less the one I wanted. It’s not a declaration of love, but it’s the closest I’ve ever gotten. Smiling at him, I echo his sentiments. “Best decision I ever made, too.”

He helps me out of the truck and as soon as I’m in his arms, we’re all over each other. We trip against each other’s feet as we try to make our way across the gravel drive, laughing and giggling when we both almost fall. His strong arms hold me tighter as his mouth takes mine. Up the steps and into the house we go. The minute he slams the door shut, we’re all over each other again. Even more than when we were at the bar. I’m pressed up against the wall, and my hands are working Holden’s jeans down his hips, the same as he’s pushing my jeans down my hips. Once we’re both naked from the waist down, I know this isn’t a game. Neither one of us seem to be able to wait any longer. His hands cup my thighs, coming around my ass to pick me up and hold me against the wall.

He spreads my legs wider, nestling in between them. He coats his cock with my wetness and he’s at my entrance, pressing in, before I know it. I’m opening to him, dying to feel the stretch of his girth, his length. Right as he’s about to press inside, there’s a knock at the door.

“Havoc, I need to talk to you.”

“What?” I’m breathing harshly, trying to pull myself out of the haze of passion. “Who is that?”

He groans, throwing his head back on his shoulders, before bringing it forward and letting it hit the wall with a thud. “Fucking Ace, and if he’s here, there’s a problem,” he assures me. “I’ve got to take care of this.”

I’m disappointed but trying not to let it show. “You do what you have to. I’ll go in the bedroom so you two can have some privacy.”

“We’re coming back to this,” he promises. “Maybe not tonight, but we’ve come too far now to ever turn back.” He leans in, giving me a harsh kiss before we both go about putting our clothes back on.

“Be there in a sec,” he yells to Ace.

And I know without a doubt, my night is over.

“This better be good. You have no idea what you fucking interrupted in there,” I grumble as I walk out onto the porch, leaving my shirt untucked. No reason for my guy to see what he interrupted. Make no mistake, it’s very obvious.

“I know, I called the guys at the bar to see if you were still there with them. They told me that you and Leighton left together. I’m sorry, but we have a situation.”

This is my job, it’s everything I have to deal with on a daily basis and none of the crimes committed or the emergencies care that I’m about to get laid. “Lay it on me.” I walk with him out to his truck. “What we got?”

“There was a field party out on Cooper’s Creek tonight, and we busted it up.”

“Damn,” I shake my head. “School just got out last week, they already having field parties?”

“You and I both know it’s the only thing to do around here, but that’s not why I’m here. We found ’shine.”

I curse under my breath. “So they’re back up and running.”

“I’m assuming they are. One more thing that’s going to make your night fucking a-maz-ing. When we broke it up, a couple of kids were worried about a couple who’d gone to get some alone time. They called the K-9 unit because it’s obviously dark as shit out there. The dog hit on a spot in the woods. There’s a grave, with a body.”

“Son of a bitch,” I sigh. Can this night get any worse? “How old?”

“Won’t know until they get all the tests back, but they’ll have to send off for dental records. That’s how old it is. CSI was out there, as well as the Alabama Bureau of Investigation. Some were putting time of death due to decomp at fifteen plus years.”

Well that makes my life a little better. It’s an older one, which means I have time, because the initial forensics won’t get back for months. “Alright, let me go in and approve all the shit you’re gonna need to finish up your shift tonight. I’m off tomorrow, so we’ll reconvene when I get back, unless you need to talk about something right now?”

“I’m straight, and I’m really sorry I interrupted you.”

“Hey, it’s what I get for making the big bucks.” I shoot him a grin.

As I watch Ace leave, I shake my head. Fucking ’shine, a dead body, and a field party. So much for wanting to have a date night with my wife. I go back inside the house, seeing Leighton sitting on the couch, looking up at me with those big eyes of hers. “Why don’t you go to sleep, I gotta go to the station, and you look like you need to sleep the shots off a little.”

“Sounds like a good idea,” she agrees. “But I’m gonna miss you.” She wraps her arms around my neck as I pick her up and carry her to bed.

As I tuck her in, kissing her forehead, I sigh at the turn this night took. Definitely not what I was planning on.
