Chapter Eight

Asa finally allowed Jamie to rest but not until it was well after midnight. He fucked her two more times. When they were in his bed, he’d taken the time to explore her body properly, from head to toe. There was no part of her that went untouched by his tongue. And the best part about the entire experience, was her response to his touch. There was so much wonder and naiveté in her eyes. Despite her past, there was still an innocence about her that the world hadn’t touched yet. She was a rare flower among a bed of weeds and he planned on nurturing and caring for her.

She was the other half of him who made him whole. Jamie might not believe that they had a lot in common but Asa had dealt with his own demons. It was how he recognized the brokenness in her. But, they would fix each other. She had quickly become an obsession for him.

He leaned over and pressed a gentle kiss on her shoulder and stroked her hair that was now a messy puff on his pillow. It still fascinated him, so soft and inviting.

She moaned in her sleep and turned over. Damn, she was beautiful. His dick was hard again but he decided that he’d give her rest. He wasn’t completely inconsiderate and maybe he might have been a bit rough with her for their first time together. But, it was important that he established how things would be between them from the beginning.

Most people would probably call him perverted for his little kink but everyone had their thing. His was to dominate and control in the bedroom and Jamie’s was to submit. Her compliance turned him on. He loved the way she called him Daddy and those cute little sounds she made as he plowed into that tight pussy.

But she was more than just a fuck toy to him. He wanted to take care of her and give her the life that she deserved. Before he even knew who she was, he’d taken note of her. There was something about her that fascinated him. But upon learning her name, it all clicked. He suddenly understood why he was so drawn to her because she was just like him.

While her story had become news fodder, his, however, remained a secret. It was that secret that had nearly killed him many times over. It was a miracle that he was alive today. Growing up, he remembered hearing the word, lucky a lot.

“Asa, you’re so lucky to have such a brilliant father.”

“Asa, you’re so lucky to come from such a nice family.”

“You’re so lucky you live such a perfect life.”

There had never been anything lucky or perfect about his life. On the outside, he did have the ideal American family. His mother came from an upper middle-class background where she never had to work a day in her life. She was an accomplished equestrian and only associated with the right people. She was the epitome of poise, grace and beauty. And from the time she’d left the womb, Amelia Stansfield nee Rogers was raised to be the perfect wife and homemaker. Nelson Stansfield came from a long line of prestigious doctors. The Stansfields had the right pedigree and were considered pillars of their community. Nelson was no different. Not only was he a respected surgeon, he was on the board for a handful of charitable organizations. Much beloved, he was who people strived to be.

It was only natural that Nelson and Amelia have a handsome and equally overachieving son. Not a day went by when Asa wasn’t reminded to uphold the Stansfield name. He was reminded by verbal or physical means. Yes, they were perfect alright. Perfectly dysfunctional. Inside the Stansfield home, two monsters lived in unholy matrimony and they’d given birth to a son. A little boy who grew to be a monster in his own right.

Asa pushed those memories away as he slid out of bed. He went to the bathroom to relieve himself and then headed back to his room. He was too restless to sleep but didn’t want to wake Jamie up, just yet.

He headed over to his desk and opened up his laptop. The first site he visited was the local news. The story of the missing councilman still dominated the news in this area. Asa clicked on the most recent article which happened to share an interview from a tearful mistress who was pointing fingers at the wife who the mistress felt had something to do with her lover’s disappearance based on her odd behavior.

The article read: A tearful Karen Benson says, “I just know his wife is responsible for this. He said he was going to leave her for me. She must have found out and had him killed because she was jealous. Mark my words, once she gets the insurance money, she’s going to disappear.

Now that the mistress was talking to the news, the story was taking on a life of its own. It was no wonder Derek was so concerned. This was probably Asa’s biggest monster hunt but he felt no remorse or concern that someone would come sniffing in his direction. He’d been too careful and made sure to cover all his bases. Most people would have been worried and started making stupid mistakes or saying something because they had consciences. Asa had a conscience, just not where monsters were concerned. Serial killer. Murderer. Monster. Those were just a few of labels that he’d be burdened with if people actually looked inside to see the darkness of his heart. And, maybe he was a monster, too, but he preferred to call himself a purveyor of justice.

Morally speaking, he walked in a gray area. He had no legal standing for what he did which is why he was careful not to get caught. Asa wasn’t afraid of the consequences, neither of jail nor death but he needed to stay alive. Who else would slay the monsters, if not him? Derek often worried that Asa sought these monsters out for more nefarious reasons, those being that he enjoyed the kills and was addicted to it. There was no denying the darkness with him. Sure, he enjoyed watching the life drain from his prey. He fucking loved hearing them beg for mercy and giving none. But, what he did was necessary to feed the beast.

That was until he took an interest in Jamie. She was the light to his darkness. He needed her so that he wouldn’t cross a line he couldn’t come back from. Jamie didn’t know this yet, but she was his salvation.

Needing to feel her warmth, Asa closed his laptop and headed back to bed. He slid underneath the covers and pulled her against him.

“Mmm,” she moaned. “Please no more,” she whispered, her voice heavy with sleep.

Unable to help himself, he placed a kiss on her nude shoulder. She had the softest skin. He couldn’t keep his hands off of her. Carefully, he pulled the cover off of her and drank in her beauty. All his.

Asa rolled Jamie onto her back and made his way down her body, kissing her exposed skin along the way before settling between her thighs. He ran his fingers along the tight curls nestled over her treasure. Most of the women he’d been with, kept this area bare or had just a little landing strip. He liked that Jamie was all natural. It was sexy and turned him on in ways that he never imagined possible. Lowering his head, he inhaled her scent, so raw and fragrant. Asa parted her swollen labia and flicked her clit with his tongue. He circled and nibbled it before sucking it into his mouth.

As he feasted on her juicy cunt, he slid his middle finger inside of her. She tasted amazing. She had quickly become his addiction.

“What are you doing?” She moaned, still sounding sleepy.

He raised his head long enough to answer, “If you have to ask, I’m not doing it right.” Asa slipped another digit into her wet heat and fingered her as he latched onto her clit again.

He wrote his name in her pussy with his tongue.

“Oh God! Asa.”

He bit down on her clit as a reminder of who was in charge.

“Daddy!” she called out.

“Better,” he growled before he continued to feast on her pussy.

Jamie arched her back and lifted her hips, shoving her sex in his face. “Yes!” she cried out.

When she began to shake, Asa knew she was close. He smacked the inside of her thigh which caused her so squirt. Asa lapped up her juices, savoring every drop. He took his time licking and savoring her.

Only when he had his fill, did he pull away. Asa slid alongside her before giving her a hungry kiss. He pressed his tongue between her slightly parted lips wanting Jamie to taste herself on his tongue.

Jamie twisted her head away gasping for breath. “That was…intense.”

“It was,” he agreed pulling her within the crook of his arm.

Asa wasn’t particularly sleepy but he enjoyed holding her in his arms. She fit so perfectly against him. He could feel her heartbeat and it soothed him. Because of her, his beast slept.

“Asa?” She asked hesitantly.

“Yes?”

“This thing between us…what happens tomorrow. When you drop me off at home, will we just go back to our lives and pretend that we don’t know each other?”

“Why would you ask me that?”

“Because, I’m still trying to make sense of this. Make sense of us. It just seems like you’re more suited to someone like Dr. Nguyen.”

“I’m not interested in Dr. Nguyen. I’m interested in you.”

“But, she’s smart.”

“You don’t think you’re smart, Jamie?”

“Well, I’m not a complete idiot but I’m no doctor.”

“If I wanted to date another doctor, there are a number of other women I would choose before Maria.”

“But, she’s very beautiful.”

“So is a poison dart frog but I’m not interested in dating one of them either. Look, Jaime, I get that you have your insecurities but I want you to know that I see you.” Asa turned to his side so that he was looking in her eyes. “I see the woman you are. You may have been bruised and battered. But, I see that you’re a survivor. Before I even knew your story, you fascinated me. You have more to offer than you think and I’m not going to allow you to put yourself down again. If you do, you get punished.”

“You seem to get off on that don’t you?”

“I’m not going to lie to you. I’m a man who enjoys having things his way. When we’re in bed, I’m Daddy. And you’re my baby, my little girl. Maybe it stems from my own Daddy issues but it’s just my thing and it’s nonnegotiable. Outside of the bedroom, you’re my equal. A word of warning to you, I’m very possessive of what is mine. And, you’re mine. So, you wanted to know what happens after tonight? We happen. You’re belong to me just as much as I belong to you.”

“Just like that?” she asked still seeming uncertain.

“Just like that.”

“And, what if I’m not interested in relationship?”

“You are.”

“You sound so certain.”

“In my line of work, you have to be.”

“What if…”

He pressed his finger against her lips. “Shh. No more doubts, Jamie. We’re good for each other.”

She sniffed and lowered her head. “I’m scared.”

He gripped her chin to look in her eyes. “What are you afraid of?”

“That you’ll wake up in the morning and realize this is a big mistake. Look, I know you told me not to worry but you don’t understand what I’ve gone through. You might have read some article about me and decided that you know my life but you don’t. You couldn’t possibly. I was never wanted. Up until I was four, I thought my name was stupid. My mother would look at me like she hated my very existence. As long as I can remember, she’d tell me that no one would love me because she didn’t love me. Not even my father wanted me. He treated me worse than a rabid animal and let my stepmother and sisters terrorize me. I was the big nothing. When that’s what you’ve grown up with, you start to believe it and internalize it.” Tears slid down her cheeks, which he wiped away.

Hearing her talk about her past made him want to take out all the people who had hurt her.

Jamie sniffed before continuing. “I’ve fought very hard to get to where I am today and maybe my life isn’t anything to write home about, but it’s mine and I’m proud of me. I have so many issues that I battle on a daily basis, like my anxiety, fear of the dark and crowds. I always question people’s motives because it’s hard for me to trust, especially when the people who were supposed to love me, crushed my spirit over and over again. So, I need you to understand why I’d question your motives. On paper, we’re an odd couple. You say all these nice things about me but I’m struggling to see them myself.”

She touched the deepest part of him, arousing the protector within him. He cupped her face in his palms. “Listen to me, I want you to know that you are much more than you believe you are. And, I won’t rest until you see what I see in you. I will protect you and always keep you safe. I’m going to slay your monsters. And we’re going to be together, because we fit.”
