The Librarian (The Rulers of Darkness MC Book 1) by Belle Winters (14)

Siarra

“Talk.”

“Tank?” I asked.

A pause. “Sia?”

I rolled my eyes. “Uh duh, who else would be calling from my phone?” I asked.

“Uhhhhh… I don’t have your number little one.” Tank said.

I frowned. “Why not? I have yours…”

He grunted. “Why the fuck would I voluntarily do something to get myself brained?”

“What are you talking about?” I asked confused.

“Babe, you ain’t dense. Psycho would slit my fucking throat if I asked for it. No thanks.”

I scoffed. “No, he won’t.”

He barked out a laugh. “Have you met him?”

“Obviously.” I answered dryly.

“Alright then. Tell me this, does he know you called me right now?” he asked.

I blushed. “No.”

“You gonna tell him?” he sounded mighty cheeky.

“No.”

“Point proven. Now, what’s going on?” he asked.

“I’m freaking out. I need some help!” I fussed with a groan.

His tone turned serious. “What happened?”

“Oh no, nothing happened. I just don’t have any clue what to get him or Addie for Christmas.” I told him.

A pause. “Seriously?”

I stuck my tongue out at the phone. “Um, yea. I’m calling you because I need to recruit you for some help. Can you pick me up after work and come with me?” I asked.

“I don’t know…” he sounded weary.

“Oh, come on. Please…?” I wasn’t above begging.

He sighed. “Fine, what time?”

“Can you be here at 3? I’ll text Sy and tell him that I’m working overtime and I’ll catch a cab home.” I explained.

He groaned. “Fucking hell, he’s gonna find out and he’s gonna fucking torture me to death.”

I laughed. “Oh Tank, would you grow a pair already? Be here on time, thanks.”

He muttered some curses before hanging up the phone. Seriously, I don’t know what he thinks but I don’t think Sy will care… that much.

Tank walked into the library and leaned on the counter. “I’m ready for our date.”

I smiled. “I’m coming; I just need to grab my bag.”

He rapped his knuckles on the counter. “Alright, let’s put a move on it.”

I rolled my eyes at his impatience and scooped up my bag. I followed him out and paused. “Please don’t tell me you drove that thing.” I said eyeing his bike.

He looked at his bike and frowned. “Of course, I did, what’s wrong with it?” he asked.

I looked at him like he just grew another arm. “That’s death on wheels man; this is just not going to work for me.”

He scrubbed his face, the same thing that Psycho does when I’m annoying him. “Am I annoying you?”

He gave me a look that clearly said Duh. Well alright. “Look, I’ll be careful… precious cargo and all that. I’ll get you home in one piece. You trust me?” he asked. I thought it over. I was freaking petrified. When I didn’t move or speak he sighed. “Look, it’s no different than when you ride with Psycho.” He said.

I frowned. “I never rode with him on his bike.”

Swear to you, his eyes popped out of his head. “No shit?”

I smiled. “Scouts honor.”

He walked over to his bike. “Well come on so I can pop your biker cherry.”

I blushed. I really did want him to go with me and it’s not like I had a car with me. I groaned. “Fine. But I swear if you kill me I’ll haunt you for the rest of your life and then torture you in the afterlife.” I warned him.

He cringed. “Prez is right. You really are a demented little shit.”

I grinned. “And don’t you forget it.”

He helped me with a helmet and then onto the bike. I was shaking in nerves and when I wrapped my arms around him he wheezed. “Babe, try not to kill me by squeezing all the oxygen out of my body.”

I loosened my hold. “Sorry, I’m just nervous.”

He grinned as he started the bike. I felt the vibrations everywhere. “Once we get started you’re going to love it. Swear.” He promised, and then we were off.

He was right of course. It wasn’t as life altering as I thought it was going to be. After I got over my mini panic attack in the beginning, I actually began to enjoy it. He took me back to the mall we had gone to, to do Christmas shopping last week.

“So, what you thinking about sugar?” he asked.

I shrugged. “I have no clue, that’s why I recruited you. You know him way better than I do.”

He eyed me curiously. “I’m not too sure about that. Surely you guys talk…”

I thought about it. “I mean, I guess we do. He told me a few things; I wouldn’t qualify that as me knowing him better.”

“Well, I never lived with him per say. What type of stuff has he told you? He ain’t one for talking. I know some shit just cause I was around.” Tank said.

I frowned. “He’s your best friend. He just told me his real name, which he won’t let me use. Some things about his parents, his childhood… getting into the club.” I shrugged. “That’s about it. Other than the foods he favors, but he eats anything I cook really.”

Tank stopped walking completely. “He told you about his past?”

I nodded. “Sure. I mean, I kind of harassed it out of him… but not much. Just like a general run down.”

He began walking again. “I don’t even know about his past… at least before he was dealing. Everyone learned about him and knew Psycho.”

That stunned me. “Wow, I didn’t know.”

Tank gave me a knowing look. “Now ya do.” Tank led me into an automotive store.

I browsed the rows up and down twice before I sighed. “Tank, I have no idea what any of this stuff is.” I complained.

He shrugged. “Get him a gift card.”

I groaned. “No. that’s so impersonal and there’s no thought behind it.”

He picked up some tool. “How about this torque wrench? He could use one of these.”

I eyed the tool and frowned. That just seemed… like something I wouldn’t buy a person for Christmas. And… “Holy smokes that thing is how much money? Tell me that decimal is in the wrong place…”

He laughed. “Na, this is the good kind. That’s right.”

I shook my head. “How about we go to Toys R Us and get Addie’s stuff. I obviously need to think through Psycho’s gift on my own.”

He just laughed it off. As I was loading things into the cart Tank frowned at me. “You do realize that I rode my bike, right?”

I frowned. “And?”

“Ain’t no trunk on it.” he informed me.

Mental forehead slap. “UGH!” I crossed my arms. “I can at least pay for this and pick it up on the weekend.” I glared at him. “You’re no help at all, you know that?” I asked.

He shrugged. “I tried to warn you, but you wanted my company so damn bad…”

I growled. “Come on so I can pay for this.”

After we left Toys R Us, we were strolling past the stores and I got an idea as we approached one of those fancy high-end department stores. “I think we might be able to find something in here.” I told him tugging him along.

I browsed the store for an hour before I found what I was looking for. I held it up for Tank and he smiled. He let out a low whistle. “That’s bad ass.”

I grinned. “It is right?” I asked.

When we left the store, I was $579 poorer, but I felt better. “We just need to stop at the cleaners.”

He frowned. “I am not going to be running your errands.” He told me.

I rolled my eyes. “I was to have it embroidered.”

When everything was said and done, Tank took me home. I was just dismounting the bike, when the front door flew open. Tank paled, “I’m outta here.” He said and was off before I could respond. Punk.

I walked up to the door to find a brooding Psycho. He moved – barely – to let me into the house. He slammed the door shut and crowded me against the wall by the door. “Explain.”

I frowned. “What?” I asked.

“Explain.” He said again.

I sighed. “I didn’t work late.”

He grunted.

“I called Tank to pick me up and run an errand with me.”

He cocked his head to the side.

“We went, and then he dropped me off.”

His eyebrows went up.

“That’s it. Now I’m here.”

He remained silent, just staring at me.

“Well, aren’t you going to say something?” I asked suddenly nervous.

He stuck his tongue into his cheek.

“Sy?”

“I’m trying to figure out how to say this to you in a way you understand. You obviously have a problem. I don’t know if its understanding or if you have short term memory.” He finally said.

I frowned. “What do you mean?” I asked.

He moved impossibly closer. “You didn’t work late. That means you fucking lied to me.”

“But – “

“You called Tank… didn’t I fucking tell you about calling other guys, especially my brothers.” His voice was low and cold.

“You – “

“You were alone with him.” He just continued not letting me get a word in.

“I – “

“YOU WERE ON HIS FUCKING BIKE!” he roared.

I took a chance and put my hands on his chest trying to calm him. He flinched like I’d burned him, and my hands dropped. He took a step back. “How dare you touch me after you just had your arms and hands on someone else?”

Ouch. “I don’t know what you mean, but I’m sure it’s not what you’re thinking.”

He scoffed. “Right. So why all the fucking secrets? You refuse to get on my bike, but you had no issue getting on behind him. Did it turn you on having your pussy rubbing against him? Holding him in your arms?”

I shook my head. “It really wasn’t like that.”

He took a step back. “Whatever. Do what you want. If you want Tank, I’ll take my shit and go to a hotel tonight. Then you can go ahead and call him over.”

He turned his back on me to storm off. Reality hit me like a brick. “You’re jealous.” I stated.

He froze. “The fuck I am.”

Oh no, he was not going to get away with this. “Yes, you are. You’re jealous because I was with Tank.”

“No, I just realized I can’t trust you.” He stated.

I followed behind him as he started walking off. He headed to the room he’s been occupying. I stood in the doorway with my arms crossed. He began tossing his stuff into his bags. “Don’t you think you may be overreacting a little bit?” I asked.

He didn’t give me any answer, just continued to pack up his stuff. When he was done he headed to leave the room. He made no attempt to avoid me, and I had to jump out of the way at the last second otherwise he would’ve walked right through me. I continued to follow him.

“Sy…”

No answer, just the sound of his footsteps.

“Psycho.” I tried again.

“Alex.”

At that he turned around, eyes narrowed and dangerous. “Don’t ever fucking call me that again.” He warned.

I was rooted to the spot, hurt and rejection flooding through me. I watched as his feet ate up the rest of the floor and he was out the door. I listened as his engine started and he was off. I turned around only to see Addie standing at the top of the stairs with a confused look on her face.

Addilyn

I heard Sy and Sia arguing. That was normal with them; most times I found it funny. I know all about my father and how dangerous he is, but he’s only been kind and gentle with me. I was a bit afraid of him at first but other than cursing or going at it with Sia, he behaves around me.

Today was different and I knew it. The way Sy was talking wasn’t something I ever heard before. It was a bit frightening. I don’t know what happened, but I did see him leave with his stuff. He didn’t even say goodbye.

Would he be back? Would I see him again? Did he only want me for Sia? I really liked being with him. I liked being with them both. When we were all together having dinner and stuff I feel like I have a real family.

I know that they like each other, it’s so obvious. Plus, I’ve caught them together a few times. Like at the club when she was on his lap, or at the decorating party when they were pretty much holding each other. I don’t understand them; I hoped one day that we can be a family for real. I guess that’s not going to happen now that he left.

I sighed and turned going back to my room.

Psycho

I haven’t seen Siarra or Tank since that day. I felt betrayed by the both of them. I knew I didn’t really have a right to feel anything about what she does, but I do. There’s nothing that I can fucking do about it, it’s just what it is.

I still was spending time with Addie. I pick her up in the mornings and take her to school, and then I pick her up and bring her back here to my hotel room where we hang out. I drop her off at a decent hour and sit in the car until she’s safely inside. It’s probably childish, but I don’t want any contact with Siarra.

Addie cornered me earlier and begged for me to go over to Siarra’s place for Christmas. I really didn’t fucking want to, but shit how could I not be there for her for Christmas. Being a fucking parent sucks, you gotta put the kid first. So here I was sitting in my car in front of her house stewing.

I got out of the car and snatched up the presents that I’d picked up for her. I had to have them wrapped at the stores cause I made a fucking mess when I tried. It’s not as easy as fucking You Tube said.

Shit, I was fucking sweating. I was nervous, I’m never nervous. I knocked on the door. Siarra answered and all I could do was stare. She had her hair down in loose waves, a fucking elf costume that was tight as all hell. Her big blue eyes were staring at me from behind those big nerdy ass frames of hers.

“Psycho.” She breathed out as she looked me up and down slowly.

I gave her a nod, and she opened up the door further to let me in. I looked around and frowned. “Where’s Addie?” I asked.

“She’s still asleep.”

I groaned. It was the butt crack of dawn; I wanted to be here when she tore through whatever gifts she got. “Don’t kids usually get up at like midnight to open gifts?” I asked.

“We were up pretty late last night making cookies and stuff.” She explained with a shrug. “Want coffee?” she asked.

I nodded. I went into the living room and began putting my gifts under the tree. Siarra already had the tree jam packed with stuff. She came into the living room carrying two mugs. She handed one to me, black just how I like it. I took a seat and sighed.

I had my attention focused in my cup, but I could feel her stare burning a hole into me. “I missed you.” She said softly.

I grunted. Sure she did.

She sighed. “Sy… can I please tell you about that day?” she asked.

I looked up at her. “Why does it matter?” I asked.

She shrugged. “Look, this is weird. You’re avoiding me like I have cooties. Addie misses having you here for dinner and just hanging around. I miss having you around.” She gave a small smile. “There’s no one for me to argue with.”

I shook my head. “Fucking crazy.”

She laughed and stood walking over to the tree. She bent down, and fuck if I didn’t check out her ass. She shifted the presents around before standing with a semi large one. She walked over and extended it to me. I frowned.

“What’s that?” I asked.

“The reason I was with Tank. I called him because I couldn’t figure out what to get for you. I figured since he was your best friend he would have the best ideas to help me. He turned out to be no help, but at least I had a ride.” She told me.

I’m not going to lie, I was a little stunned. It never even crossed my mind. You can’t blame me; no one has actually bought something for me in a hell of a long time. “You serious?” I asked feeling more and more like a fucking moron by the second.

She nodded. “Go on, open it.”

I did as she told me and fucking hell. “This is pretty awesome.” I admitted.

It was a black leather jacket that was just my style. It had Prez on the left breast and the club emblem on the back. It matched my cut to a tee. I saw the price tag and wanted to strangle her. She had no business spending this type of cash on me. I know for sure this is well out of her budget, not to mention however much she spent on Addie.

“It’s really nice, but you shouldn’t have. This is expensive as fuck, I’ll pay you back.” I told her.

She grew red and shook her head. “Absolutely not. How do you even know how much it costs?” she asked hands on her hips. She was getting all fiery on me.

“You broke the first rule of gift giving… you left the tag. I told you I like it, you just don’t need to spend that type of money on me.” I explained.

She shook her head. “No. I wanted to do that. If you pay me back or return it, it devalues it.” I opened my mouth to argue and she stopped me. “Please, it means something to me.”

I sighed. She started with the pouting and the puppy eyes and I was a fucking goner. She must’ve known the minute she’d won because her face broke out into a smile. She took a few hesitant steps closer to me. “So am I forgiven?” she asked.

I shrugged. “I’m thinking about it.”

She stomped her foot and sighed. Fucking cute as hell. “Oh come on. I’m not even going to rub it in and say I told you so.”

I rolled my eyes. “You just did.”

She threw her hands up. “You’re impossible.”

She went to walk off and I sat up quick and snatched her arm pulling her into my lap. As soon as I had her, my lips were on hers. She opened up for me immediately and fuck, I missed her fucking mouth. The things it said, the way it tasted. She moaned and arched her back.

I dropped a hand down onto her stomach and slowly pushed it underneath her shirt. Her body shivered once I made skin to skin contact. I slowly edged my way up until my hand was right beneath her breasts. I tested the waters and lightly brushed a finger along the underside of her tit. She began squirming, pressing her legs together. That was all I needed.

I covered her breast and began to knead them. There was no finesse; I’ve wanted this bitch under me for way too fucking long. To touch her like this, to be in her so fucking deep she’ll feel me in there for the rest of her life. She pressed her chest into my hand begging me for more, so I gave it to her. I brushed my thumb over her nipple and it instantly hardened at my touch. I pinched it and she cried out breaking the kiss.

“You like that?” I asked her.

She nodded. “God yes.”

I moved my other hand under her shirt to give some attention to her lonely tit. I began teasing her, tweaking, massaging, and rubbing at her breast. When her moans were getting a little loud, I took her mouth again to swallow the sounds. I released one of the breast and began making my way to the waist band of her little elf shorts. The edge of my fingers had just passed the elastic and my dick jumped in excitement.

“Siarra, are you down here?”

I paused, frozen. Siarra let out an embarrassed squeak and I hopped into action. I literally jumped off of her right onto my feet. Addie was standing at the other side of the room, thankfully not able to see us due to the back of the couch. Siarra was struggling to right herself before she got up. Addie stared at me with a shit eating grin on her face.

I blushed. I fucking blushed. I was so embarrassed and uncomfortable. I was just caught in the middle of feeling a woman up and I had a raging boner I hope wasn’t visible in my jeans. Top it off, my daughter is giving me a look that clearly says, ‘I know what you were doing’ and shit. I never thought this would be the way I died.

“Hey Sy.” She finally greeted me as I just stood there awkwardly looking at her.

“Morning Addie.”

She crossed her arms. “So, have you seen Sia? I can’t seem to find her.” She said still with that fucking grin.

Siarra popped up from where she’d somehow ended up laid out on the couch. Her hair was a mess, she was flushed, and her glasses were crooked. What the fuck had she been doing the last two minutes I was getting stared down?

Addie got one good look at the disaster that was Siarra and burst out laughing. “You guys are soo caught.” She finally said.

Siarra sniffed and stuck that damn nose into the air. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She was a shit liar, but she was going with her denial shit on this one I guess.

“Then why do you look like that?” Addie asked waving a hand in Siarra’s direction.

“Like what?” Siarra asked. Apparently she had no idea of the train wreck she now resembled.

“You know… like you were… doing something.” The little bitch had the nerve to waggle her eyebrows.

Siarra opened her mouth and closed it a few times like a fucking fish. This was just sad. “Why don’t we open gifts huh?” I interrupted before this whole thing just got worse.

She shook her head smiling. “Uh huh, sure.” Cocky little fuck.

She made her way towards the tree and everything changed. She froze on the spot, eyes going wide and her gaze ping ponged between me and Siarra. “Are you guys kidding me?” she asked.

I frowned. “Huh?”

“Tell me this isn’t a joke. Are those all really gifts?” she asked.

Siarra chuckled. “Yes, and I do believe they’re all yours.”

She squealed and the next thing I knew there was paper flying everywhere. Siarra came to stand beside me laughing. She wrapped an arm around my waist – something that would normally make me push a person away, wasn’t unpleasant. I tossed my arm over her shoulder as we watched. After a while, I couldn’t take it anymore so I pulled her into me. I straightened her glasses on her face, and ran my fingers through her hair trying to tame it.

“There, better.”

She blushed. “I can’t believe she accused us.” She whisper hissed.

“She’s not stupid. She might think she caught more than she did but we were doing something.” I told her.

She huffed. “Was not.”

I rolled my eyes. “Really? You gonna act like I wasn’t there with my hand up your shirt. I was two seconds away from taking off those elf pants of yours.” She got redder.

At Addie and Siarra’s insistence, I called Tank and told him to drop in with some of the brothers. I had to tell the fuck twice not to bring the entire club. At some point, they conspired together and invited some of Addie’s friends and their mom’s. Just fucking great, I’m sure this is all a disaster waiting to fucking happen. What the fuck does it say about me that I’m still letting the shit happen?
