Thanking Her Hero (Steel Daggers MC Book 2) by Elisa Leigh (7)

Six

Rock

We walk through the house and out the back to where a few picnic benches have been shoved together to fit the whole lot of us. I sit down next to Chelsea and wait for Pres. He stands behind Emersen, placing his hands on her shoulders. She’s sitting at the end of the table. He looks each of us in the eye before he begins.

“This year I have a lot to be thankful for. Emersen is home and safe, hopefully carrying my son-”

“Or daughter,” Emersen adds, and we all laugh. He stares down at her, and you can feel the love they share in their look.

“Or daughter. Last night she agreed to wear my patch and my ring. We’ll be getting married within the month.”

Everyone cheers and congratulates them.

“Alright, Alright. I know you’re all hungry because I’m fucking starved. I’m honored to be the president of the Steel Daggers Motorcycle Club. Each of you here have made a profound impact in my life and to our club. I’m proud of the men you are and how you rise to each challenge placed before you. I can only hope that you’ll all find the love of a good woman.

I’ve been where you are. Sometimes you wonder why you work as hard as you do or what the hell this life is all about. When you meet her, you’ll know. Every piece will come into place, and you’ll just get it. Until then, let’s be thankful for the blessings we have and pray for beautiful tomorrows. Emersen, thank you baby, for this fantastic meal you have prepared for us.”

We all clap and give thanks for the meal we didn’t have to cook. When the guys start passing the dishes around I lean over and kiss my woman on the side of her neck before whispering to her. “I’m thankful you picked my bike to ride, and I didn’t have to beat any of these mother fuckers for getting to feel you wrapped around them.” She turns her head and stares at me with her big blue eyes. “I knew then Angel. You were mine as soon as I laid eyes on you. It was a done deal the moment I put you on the back of my bike.”

She leans forward and grabs me by my neck pulling me to her. “Thank you for stopping that night. I didn’t know where I was going. I just had to be anywhere but where I was. You saved me that night.” My Angel levels me with a kiss the God’s would cry over. Her tongue masters mine while she holds my face in one of her hands and controls us.

We’re interrupted when Jester starts throwing rolls at us. “I can’t tell Pres what to do, but I can say something to you two. You need to keep that shit locked up until you get home. That was so fucking hot you got my dick hard, and there’s no one here to relieve it. Thanks for that.”

Chelsea sticks her tongue out at Jester, and he stands up and begins to unbutton his pants, wiggling his eyebrows at Chelsea. I growl at him to “Sit the fuck down.” She giggles and fuck me, I’ve never heard her laugh like that before. She sounds free and happy, finally fucking happy.

“Oh my god I’m stuffed. I shouldn’t have had both pieces of pie. Pecan is my favorite, but I had to have pumpkin because I love it too!” She groans while rubbing her belly. She’s beyond adorable, and I want to have fifty more thanksgivings like today with her by my side.

I lace our fingers together and kiss the top of her hand, before setting it down between us. I drive in the direction of my house which isn’t the same direction as Spanky’s. I look down at her to see her reaction, and she’s smiling happily looking out the window. The vice gripping my heart eases a little now that she isn’t fighting this.

It takes about ten minutes to get to my house from Pres’. It’s a four-bedroom two bath ranch on about five acres of land, surrounded by trees and not a neighbor in sight. I’m not a friendly person and I like my privacy, so this place was perfect. I only hope that she loves it too.

When I pull down the drive, the sun is setting behind the house, and it bathes everything in an orangey-red glow. Chelsea sits up in her seat and studies the home in front of her. “This is your place?”

I shake my head no, and her brows draw together.

“This is our place. I bought it a few months ago. I’ve been fixing it up and getting it ready for us. I’ve waited for you to pick the paint colors and furniture. Just a warning, the place is a little bare.”

“Just to recap. The place is empty. I need to pick paint. And you bought it for us.” I nod, because what more is there to say.

“Alright then.” She answers then opens her door and hops her gorgeous ass out of my truck. When she turns around to close the door, she catches me staring and sticks her tongue out at me.

“That’s my tongue, Angel. You stick it out, and I’m going to give you something to lick. Do you understand?”

She smirks at me, and I don’t know whether she likes the idea or if she doesn’t think I mean it. She’ll start to get it soon. She shuts the door and walks through the yard then up the stairs to the porch. She sits in the swing I hung last week just for her. I wanted a place for us to start our mornings and end our days together.

I sit next to her, and she scoots over to me, cuddling close. I wrap my arm around her and kiss the side of her head savoring this moment for what it is. This is our first night together in our home. I’ll remember this always.

“This is the best Thanksgiving I’ve ever had Harrison. Thank you. I didn’t want to come, but you gave me the push I needed.”

“I’ll always look out for you Angel. I only want the best for you, even if you don’t realize it.”
