Before I pull out of the lot, I send a text to the prospect and then Quinn.
Prospect 1: Quinn is getting Holly. Don’t take your fucking eyes off her for a minute until she is safe with Quinn.
Quinn: Pick up Holly.
I power my phone off and stick it in my saddle bag not wanting to even tempt myself. I peel out of the lot needing to ride and wrap my head around what the hell I’m going to do. There’s no way in hell we can go back to the way things were before tonight. I ride the back roads under the starlit sky until it turns from black to orange.
I’ve driven until I can’t keep my eyes open anymore. I’ve filled up twice needing to get as far away from home as I can. I pull off at a motel and check in, needing to get some sleep before I can drive back home. I know I can’t run forever. Maybe after I sleep, I’ll be able to figure out what the hell I’m supposed to do with this fucked up situation. I realize I’ve most likely just lost my best friend and the two people I’m in love with. Fuck, could this get any worse?

When I wake up, I power my phone on and go to the bathroom to take a piss. When I come back out and check my phone, I see I have twenty-seven missed calls, more than half of them from Quinn. I also have quite a few text messages. I click on Prospect 1’s messages first.
Prospect 1: Okay. I’ve got eyes on her.
Prospect 1: I only went to help one of the guys pull a keg in, and when I got back, she wasn’t here. Is she with Rash?
Prospect 1: She’s not with Rash. Fuck, I’m sorry man.
I call Quinn not bothering to read the rest of what he said.
“Where the fuck did you go?” He roars as a greeting.
“I needed to clear my head. Where the hell is Holly? Do you have her?”
“No, I don’t fucking have her! I’ve been calling you all fucking night. You couldn’t pick up the phone? Not once? And where the hell are you? I went home, and you weren’t there.”
I hang my head, pissed I’m this far out and unable to get to where I know everyone is. “New York.”
“Fuck you, man. Just... fuck you.” He hangs up.
Shit. I fucked up, bad. I get my shit and leave. I need to get home, so I can figure out where Holly is. It takes me six hours to get home, and I’m praying by the time I get there, they will have found Holly safe and gotten her back.
I pull up to Spanky’s seeing the closed sign on the door. Fuck, fuck, fuck! That could only mean shit’s still going down and we still don’t have Holly back.
I walk in through the back to our meeting room. Triton is sitting behind his computers while Prince and Pres talk in the corner. The girls are seated off to the side holding hands. I can’t believe we’re in this predicament a-fucking-gain.
Quinn is the first one to see me. As soon as he does, he charges toward me. He slams me up against the wall. Everyone has stopped what they’re doing to look at us. “Why did you leave last night?” He growls in my face, his lips only inches from mine.
I’m pretty sure he doesn’t want to have this conversation in front of everyone. “You want to talk outside?”
“Fuck you very much. No, I don’t want to talk outside. Tell me why you left!” He yells at me. His fists clenched tight in my jacket.
I’ve never seen him this pissed off before. As I’m watching him, I notice for the first time he’s shaking, and he isn’t as pissed off as he is scared. “You walked out and left me there. I was pissed, so I left.”
The fists grabbing my jacket ease, but he doesn’t let go.
“I went to get you something to drink.”
“Huh?”
“I didn’t know if you’d need something to drink, after…”
He lets his statement hang, and I think about it, then burst out laughing. “Fuck, I love you.” The words are out of my mouth before I can pull them back in. Quinn’s eyes go wide. His back is to everyone, but I can see it when they finally get what’s going on and try to look busy doing something else.
“I mean-” He slams his mouth against mine and kisses me in front of everyone. The kiss isn’t gentle. It’s all tongue and teeth and messy as fuck, but it’s us.
He pulls back and stares at me. “I thought something happened to you. I thought you were both gone, and I was going out of my mind. I need you both, but fuck you’re the person I turn to when things go sideways, and you weren’t there. My best friend was gone. The two people I’m in love with were gone and I couldn’t find you. Don’t you ever fucking do that again Jasper. Not again!”
“You love me?” I grin, and he rolls his eyes. “Let’s get our woman back. What do we know so far?”
