“So you would want this to continue?” she asked, knowing her voice sounded extremely hopeful.
“If you didn’t mind it yes,” he said quietly. “I know it wouldn’t be much since we’re far from each other in college and with our parents… but it would just be nice every once in a while until you or I find someone else.”
Casey nodded again, she hadn’t ever thought about another guy in this way like what she had with Paul. It had always been him, whether he knew that or not.
“So…” he spoke, feeling awkward again, “what do we do now?”

Angela and Casey finished cleaning up the room before returning to bed that evening. She put a hand on her daughter’s shoulder and smiled. “I’m so proud of you honey.”

“I know,” she hugged her again before letting go and retreating to her bedroom, waiting for Paul to join her at some point.

“Can it wait?” she spoke with sleep lacing her voice while trying to find the energy to wake up.

“Fine,” she huffed and rubbed her eyes as she sat up and felt his arms envelope her.
“I just wanted to make sure you would be okay when we had to return to college… I know it’ll be hard at first, but we’ll find a way to make sure we see the other at least a few times a month.”
“I know we’ll make it work Paul,” she smiled in the dark, “because I know we both care about each other deeply and if it weren’t the case we wouldn’t be trying so hard.”
Paul chuckled gently while pressing his lips to his sister’s hair. “You’re so amazing.”
“Hmm,” she hummed while laying against his chest as she listened to their breaths.
“I love you,” he whispered quietly as he watched his sister drift back off to sleep. It didn’t hurt him that she hadn’t replied or maybe hadn’t even heard it. There was always tomorrow to tell her the secret again that had become such a big part of their lives within a short amount of time.
