CJ
"We need to all be out of sight from the road," I
was becoming increasingly anxious and the guys weren't listening to me.
"I've already gone through this CJ, the way the car and pickup truck are
positioned we can't be seen from the road." Recon was getting annoyed and
it was only a matter of time before we ended up coming to blows. The thought
made me chuckle as I could possibly do with a fistfight to make me feel better
but this wasn't the time or the place.
Because of our position within the woods, it was difficult for us to all stay hidden
but Recon had come up with the idea of faking a break down scene. A bloke from
the building site had happily offered his services to be the stranded driver
and we'd hired a pickup truck to make it look authentic. We used this vehicle to
hide our motorcycles behind and they couldn't be seen from the road offering us
the cover we needed but I was still concerned. Further down the road Duke,
Hound and Buster were positioned in a lay by should any of the Satan's get away
from us. They were armed with a stinger that would easily take out the tyres of
a motorcycle should it get past and they were prepared to do whatever it took
to stop the group.
Everything was now in place but it was the waiting around that was killing me
although there was no point analysing everything now as it was too late to do
anything about it.
"CJ are you there?"
"Yeah go ahead Woods, I can hear you loud and clear."
"They're shaking hands as we speak and the bags containing the money and
the drugs are open on the ground."
"Okay, just keep me posted on events mate."
"Like I say, nothing much to report but they're currently doing the deal
and people are franticly counting the drugs and money."
"Cheers Woods."
I returned my attention back to the group. "Right that was Woods on the
radio, the deal is going ahead so the guys could be passing within the next 5
minutes or so. Keep your eyes and ears peeled."
I was interrupted by my phone ringing, "Sorry Recon I gotta get this it's
my brother." I passed him the radio so he could be kept up to date with the
events from Woods and I turned to answer my back on the group as I answered the
phone.
"What's up Rian?"
"Did you tell Fallon to stay in the hotel when you saw her last?" he
asked almost panicked.
"Yeah of course I did why?" I was confused why he was bothering me
with such a trivial thing at this moment in time.
"I take it you haven't got your tracker app up?"
I frowned, "Well no not at this exact moment in time as I'm a little busy
Rian."
"Well she definitely ain't sitting in a hotel and by the speed she's
travelling she's most certainly in a vehicle."
I rolled my eyes and let out a deep sigh, "What the fuck's she playing
at?"
"My bet is that she's on her way shopping but the car is heading out of
town into a more rural area."
My heart lurched in my chest, "Follow it Rian, follow the fucking tracker.
I've got this horrible feeling that she's been taken by the same people that
took Keira."
"Fuck, I didn't think of that." He'd been concerned when he first
started this conversation but now I could tell he was frantic.
"She greeted me outside the hotel so it would only take one of them to see
us together and act on it."
"Right I'm on it man, she's only 10 minutes away but I can make up
ground."
"Right get on with it and keep me posted."
It was as I put my phone away that all hell broke loose. I had been so involved
in my conversation with Rian that I hadn't paid any attention to the commotion
around me.
Diesel, Recon and Stoney had taken off on their Harley's after the group
pushing them further up the road to meet the rest of our members lying in wait.
I was quietly confident that the guys were able to deal with them but I hadn't
seen how many Satan's there were.
I noticed the radio on the floor and picked it up, "Woods can you hear
me."
I could hear rustling but he answered." Yeah CJ I'm here," he
whispered.
"How many of them in total mate?"
"Six of them headed your way including Hustler and Slick but Onyx and
Priest are still here. I think they envisaged an attack and have hung back but
they're arguing."
"Fuck!" I didn't know what to do for the best. Did I take the fight
to them or wait for them to come here?
"Woods can you hear me?"
"Yeah!"
"I'm coming to you, I'm bringing the fucking fight to them."
"See you soon partner."
I could tell by the way Woods was out of breath that he was making his way
towards his motorcycle, and if there were two of them left, then it would be a
clean fight. The adrenaline kicked in as I mounted my ride and I eagerly made
my way towards the meeting place going further into the woods. This was it now,
I was taking chase and there was only one of us that was going to survive and
the way I was feeling right now, I wasn't the one that would be falling.
I accelerated up the hill, the roads weren't perfect for
Harleys as they were probably better suited to motocross but I knew we'd all be
in the same position. I made it to the place where the meeting was held and
heard a rumble from a Harley further behind me. As I turned to my left, I saw
Woods cut across a grassed area, he pointed in front of him indicating for me
to follow as I presumed that's where Onyx had obviously gone. We rode our
Harley's to the limit, picking up speed on the awful road and I only hoped that
we'd come out of here and join a proper road rather than a dirt track. I
understood why they'd possibly chosen this location but it wasn't doing well
for the suspension on my motorcycle.
Woods indicated that there was something ahead and low and behold there they
were. They had obviously thought that they were out of the firing line and had
taken a steady ride through the woods heading for Manor road. This had only
made it easier for us to catch up with them. I could see that they were having
some type of conversation in front, hands were flying everywhere as they tried
to communicate which only made me feel better about the situation. They
obviously didn't have radios which also meant that whoever had Keira couldn't
be contacted easily and be informed regarding the situation. We'd caught them
on the back foot and it was always easier being the predator rather than the
pray.
I accelerated knowing that my conquest was in sight and smiled like a Cheshire
cat as we made ground on them.
I pointed to Woods and indicated that I wanted him to deal with the other rider
as Onyx was all mine. Woods gave me the thumbs up as we navigated up the track,
in places we had to ride single file and others we could ride side by side. The
windy track wasn't suitable for our Harley's but the two guys in front were
experiencing the same difficulties so we weren't at a disadvantage.
"We're running out of road," I screamed over the
noise of the engines. The track came to an end and veered off in two
directions. Woods hung back letting me take the lead as he knew I was going
after Onyx no matter the cost. I could've asked Woods to come with me but I
wanted this to be a fair fight, he was better off dealing with the other guy
and hopefully round him up like the others.
Onyx turned left and accelerated down the road now that he had tarmac under him
rather than dirt. My frustration mounted as it took me what felt like forever
to join the main road but as I did, I accelerated after him knowing that I was
a skilful rider and confidant that I'd be able to catch him. My only
disadvantage was that I didn't know the roads, he obviously did and weaved in
and out taking more of a racing line where I had to predict bends in the road.
I rode the bike to the limit trying to put pressure on him
hoping that he'd make a mistake but he held his own and was obviously a
competent rider. I was gaining on him but only slightly, "Fuck!" I
misjudged a bend and my advantage had been taken away as easily as that.
What the fuck am I going to do? My brain was ticking trying to read the
situation, I didn't know where I was going or where he was heading and only
hoped that he wasn't leading me to a place where he had reinforcements because
I'd be screwed.
I could feel my phone vibrating in my pocket but I couldn't answer, I shook my
head at the thought of months of planning going to shit in an instant.
Without any warning a deer leaped across the road taking us both by surprise,
we slammed on our breaks and this was enough to bring me level with his
motorcycle although we were still in motion. I lifted my leg and kicked out clipping
his seat, I did it again and this time I made contact with his knee. Onyx tried
to get away by accelerating but I was on it, I now had an advantage and he
wasn't getting away. As I drew level, I kicked out again and managed to reach
the tank, his motorcycle wobbled but he managed to hold firm. I gained a slim
advantage and was slightly in front of him, I quickly turned into his bike
making him swerve across the road. Onyx slowed, hanging back behind me and I
was struggling to see him in my mirrors although I knew he was still there. I
noticed a junction coming up and I couldn't afford for him to be behind me as I
didn't know which way he would turn, I needed either to get behind him or
finish him off now.
I slammed on my breaks taking him by surprise, Onyx quickly
manoeuvred around me but over corrected and toppled from his motorcycle. I
watched as both he and his Harley skidded across the ground with a grin of
satisfaction on my face. "Gotcha you bastard," I said to myself proud
of my actions.
The wheel on his Harley was still spinning as I dismounted my ride and slowly made
my way towards him. It had gotten darker, the woods on either side of the road
and the tall trees added to the atmosphere and provided shelter and quietness.
The light from his mangled Harley shone brightly on Onyx as he lay cupping his
arm like an injured animal.
"Argh I think it's broken," he screamed as I strolled towards him.
He shielded his eyes from the bright light shining upon him with his uninjured
arm, "You need to get me some help. Call for an ambulance or even better
one of my brothers, my phones in my pocket." I marvelled at his audacity
as I slowly strolled towards him. I'd waited so long for this and it wasn't to
be rushed.
I stood in front of the light prolonging his agony by making it harder for him
to recognise me especially with my helmet on. He squinted trying to work out
who I was and probably what I even wanted, as I wasn't too forth coming in
assisting him. It hadn't even registered that I may be the person that had been
chasing him for the past seven miles.
I unfastened the strap under my chin and removed my helmet
so he could hopefully see my face before crouching beside him.
Blood dripped from his nose and mouth where he'd bounced along the ground and looking
at the angle of his arm, it was most certainly broken.
"Can you get me some help please, I'm fucking hurting here." I
smirked at his words and rubbed my forehead out of disbelief.
"Stop the bullshit Onyx, you know what I want."
He nodded, "The girl, you want the girl I understand that." He
swallowed hard and wiped his nose smearing the blood across his face. "Yeah
I can do that but you need to get me some help first."
My phone rang, interrupting our conversation but I needed to see who'd been
trying to get hold of me for the past half hour. I stood and took it from my
pocket and swiped the screen to answer the call from Finn.
"Yeah?"
"We've got Keira."
I let out a sigh of relief, "Safe and well?"
"Yep safe and well," I could hear just how pleased he was with
himself.
"Good," I hung up and turned the mobile to Onyx lying helplessly on
the ground. "Smile!" I took a few snaps and returned the phone to my
pocket before I crouched beside him again.
"It doesn't have to be like this man," I registered the pain on his
face as he moved his uninjured hand to take the strain from his broken arm.
"Ah is that hurting you?" I asked faking sympathy.
"Yeah I need a doctor. Get me that and we can forget about all of this
mess and I'll release the girl."
I surged forward and grabbed his broken arm making sure I had a good hold as I
twisted it, Onyx let out a scream so loud that it was probably possible to wake
the dead. He tried to thrash around but I tugged harder making sure that he
could feel as much pain as possible. Onyx's eyes rolled into his head and I let
go as I didn't want him passing out, if I was going to end his life he needed
to be conscious.
He stopped screaming but his breath was laboured as he tried desperately to
control his emotions.
"I can free the girl, get my phone and it will be done," he
whimpered.
I hadn't revealed to him that we already had Keira and I wasn't going to yet
because I wanted to have some fun to see if I could break him before I finished
the job.
I patted him down and noticed a bulge within his cut, I unzipped the pocket and
dug my hand inside to retrieve his .45 and phone and lay them on the ground out
of his reach. I then patted his other side and smiled as I recognised what he
had on him. I placed my hand into his pocket and removed a small tin, as I
flipped the lid I brought it under my nose and breathed in the scent.
"Oh these aren't cheap cigars are they Onyx." I took one and placed
it between my lips before I dug around in his jacket again for his lighter.
"You know I'm not usually one for cigars but today is a celebration."
I brought the lighter to the end of the cigar and flicked the striker wheel to
reveal the naked flame before shielding it with my hand to light the end. I
took a couple of puffs and blew the smoke in the direction of Onyx and smiled.
"Mmmm...This is good mate, thank you." I closed the tin, placed it
into my pocket and tapped the side as I gave him a wink. Oh this was going far
too easy and I was portraying a cool calm rational person on the outside
although I was a mess on the inside trying to hold it all together.
"Okay so you were saying that you could free the girl and rightly so as
she's been through enough already but don't think that's enough to warrant me
calling an ambulance." Onyx's face was a picture, he was totally confused
as to where I was going with this and I could see the frustration building on
his face.
"What do you want then, I'll give you anything." It was pitiful to see
this strong man on his knees begging to be helped but this is what I wanted. I
wanted him to have the humiliation of begging for forgiveness and eventually
his life.
I removed my phone once again from my pocket and stood as I drew another lug on
the cigar. I turned on the camera and asked him again, "So am I right in
saying that you'll do anything if I get you some medical attention."
"Yeah anything you ask man it's fucking hurting," Onyx let out a cry
of pain and I knew that I had him.
"Your colours!" I said coldly making sure I had everything on camera.
"You want my colours?" he asked confused.
"Yeah, take your colours off and give them to me."
Onyx sat forward and began to take off his leather cut, I anticipated that it
would take a while because of the state of his arm but he was managing it all
the same. I smiled as I turned the camera towards me, "Well you saw it
here folks. That's your President offering his colours in order to receive
medical attention. Now I don't know what type of club you think you're running here
but not even our Prospects would offer their colours without a fight and as you
can see," I panned out showing my hands, "I'm unarmed and yet he
squeals like a pig and offers his colours freely." I returned the camera
back to him catching Onyx totally remove his cut and throw it towards me.
I ended the clip and sent it to Recon knowing that he'd do what he needed to
with the information. I kicked his patch out of the way as it was worthless to
me, I wouldn't be bragging about taking it that was for sure but it just showed
what type of bloke I was dealing with. At the end of the day, he was a fucking
cowed who would do anything to protect his own arse. He didn't care about the
club or its members, it was about what he could get out of it and fuck the rest
of the world.
I crouched beside him and smiled, "You know you've just
sealed your fate." Onyx's eyes widened, "Well if I don't finish you
off now your brothers will for disrespecting your club, so for me it's a win
win situation because you're screwed either way."
I grabbed his arm again and twisted, "Let's hear that noise one last time
as it's like music to my ears." I turned his arm and heard bones fracture
under the force but it was the shriek of pain from his mouth that made me feel
alive. I abruptly let go and moved my body so that I was now sitting behind him
on the ground, his head slumped forward as he went in and out of consciousness
and again I mentally kicked myself because I needed him to be awake but knew
that his body may go into shock. I slapped his face, "Oh no you don't
you're not falling asleep on me yet, I want you awake for the next part."
He shook his head from side to side as he came to and I turned his head
slightly so I could see his face and the disorientation. I pulled Locke's blade
from the sheath around my waist and showed it to him. The lights from his
Harley were still shinning upon us, which illuminated the blade and cast a
shadow onto the road. I twirled it around proudly and smiled at what it
represented.
"This blade was given to me by Locke in his will. He
gave me a variety of other things but this is the most poignant because I knew
immediately what I was going to do with it." I glanced at Onyx as he tried
ever so slightly to move in my arms, "Have you got any clues what they may
be?" I asked searching his face.
"Please," he whimpered. "Let's talk about this," he reached
out to try and grab the blade but I simply moved it from his reach.
"Tut tut, don't touch the blade you'll only cut yourself silly." I
sounded like a crazed person and I suppose at this moment in time that wasn't
far from the truth as grief played havoc with my brain.
I grabbed his ponytail yanking it back to reveal his jugular and wrapped my
legs around his body so that his arms were concealed, he was like a lamb ready
to be slaughtered. I ran the blade lightly across his neck just hard enough so
that it would leave a faint mark but still giving him enough indication of what
I was about to do.
"You see Onyx I'm just a little confused, I thought you'd put up more of a
fight if I'm honest." I shook my head I couldn't believe how easy this was
going.
"You haven't got the bottle CJ."
"Oh you don't think I'm going to do it?"
He shook his head, "No. Just like your mate, a fucking cowed." His
words stung but he was a man close to death so he was going to vent, I was just
surprised he'd waited this long to become vile.
"He could've taken me out multiple times but just didn't have the balls to
do it."
I'd heard enough, I dug the blade into his neck and listened to Onyx as his
breathing quickened. "You see that's where you're wrong," I dug
deeper and he started to flap around but I held firm savouring the moment.
"He was biding his time with you and he would've gone through with it but
he died being a hero trying to save the woman he loved and two innocent children."
I twisted the blade and he squealed like a pig as blood pissed from his neck.
"And you ain't seen my balls, they're fucking big and I'm more than man
enough to do this." I pushed the knife in deep and slowly moved it across
his neck, he convulsed in my arms and the gurgling sound rang in my ears as the
blood seeped from his mouth and nose. I was surprised at how much he jiggled
around but I held firm until I had sliced across the whole of his neck. Eventually
his body gave up the fight and slumped in my arms but I didn't move, I remained
on the ground as months of stress oozed from my body. It was a great feeling,
not to take another man's life that was never a good feeling but I felt like
I'd done Locke proud. I'd finished what he'd started and was now hopefully able
to get closure.
I shuffled back allowing Onyx's body to fall to the ground
and stood as I heard a car approaching. The driver saw the motorcycles and
slowed down to observe the carnage.
The driver opened his window, "Is everything okay, do you need any assistance
or for me to call an ambulance."
I strolled over to the vehicle, "It's too late for that mate to be honest
but I've already called them, they're on their way."
"Oh I'm sorry, do you want me to stay?"
I shook my head, "That's very kind of you but there's no need. It's
fucking gruesome to be honest and I wouldn't want you seeing that."
"Okay, well I wish you well and I'm sorry for your loss."
I smiled, "Thank you."
The driver continued down the road thinking it was a road traffic incident rather
than a murder scene which was fine with me. I didn't want anyone sticking their
nose in if I could help it and pulled my phone out again to call Recon.
"Is there a Satan available to come and pick up Onyx?"
"Have you done it mate?" he asked excitedly.
"Yeah."
"Excellent. Where are you?"
"Fuck knows, a little road off the beaten track. I did a left into Manor
road and kept going for about 6 or 7 miles."
"Okay I'll let one of the Satan's prospects go and pick him up. Are you
okay to ride?"
"Yeah sure, why's that?"
"Coz you may want to get down here if you want to deal with Hustler, I've
kept him alive just for you"
"Not a problem I'm on my way," I hung up and placed my phone back
into my pocket and turned to look at the carnage. I couldn't leave him in the
middle of the road for passerby's to see so I decided to drag him to the edge
of the road at least to try to conceal him a little so the prospect had time to
collect him. I turned off the lights on his Harley and stood the bike. It was
no easy task as the motorcycle weighed a ton but I managed to erect it and
wheel it over to the side of the road. I then turned my attention to Onyx's
lifeless body. He was a lean man but would be heavy all the same, I hooked my
arms under his and dug in deep to drag his body over to the side of the road.
This took a little longer than I anticipated but I managed to dump him behind
his motorcycle and kicked a few leaves to conceal his legs so he wasn't
immediately recognisable from the road.
I picked up his colours from the ground and stuffed them in
the front of my jacket before zipping it up securely. I wanted to make sure
that the rest of the Satan's saw the evidence of their President's patch. I
kicked his .45 towards his motorcycle and bent down to grab my helmet off the
ground, I was now in a rush and fastened it as I made my way over to my
motorcycle. It was only then as the adrenaline was slowly leaving my body that
I realised just how tired I was. The last couple of months especially the past
week had taken its toll on my body and mind. I certainly needed time to
recharge the batteries after this ordeal and start to get my life in order.
I mounted my ride and placed the keys into the ignition. My lights hit Onyx's
bike and a small smile spread across my face. "This one was for you mate,"
I said aloud knowing that Locke would be looking down pleased with my
accomplishment. I turned my motorcycle around and took off in the opposite
direction needing to join the rest of the group and find out what exactly had happened
to Keira.
"About bloody time," I walked over to the group to
be greeted by Recon as he brought me into a bear hug.
"Ah have you missed me?" I asked patting him on the back.
"Fuck off!" The group sniggered at his response and he seemed a little
embarrassed under the scrutiny of the rest of the group. Recon wasn't one to
show emotion but we'd grown surprisingly close over the past 10 days through
spending so much time together.
"So where are they?" Recon stepped aside allowing me to see six Satan
members on their knees with their hands behind their heads.
"Oh this night couldn't get any better," I chuckled as I walked over
to the group. I glanced behind me briefly, "Have they had the pleasure of
seeing the video yet?" I asked excitedly.
Recon smiled, "Not yet mate we were saving that one for you, I got in
trouble the last time I showed a video remember." The group sniggered in
reference to Recon showing the video containing two of Lauren's attackers
having fun with dildo's and the mere mention had me sniggering inside because
although it was amusing, that was something I never wanted to see again.
Recon handed me his phone and I pressed play, the video
showed how cowardly their President had been by offering me his colours and as
I walked down the line showing the short clip, I saw the faces of the Satan's
change accordingly. Their President wasn't so tough when he was all alone and
whimpering like an injured animal. I took great pleasure in watching their
faces but noticed that Hustler wasn't paying attention. Every time I walked
past him, he turned his head not wanting to watch the clip. It finally came to
an end and I passed the phone back to Recon and squatted in front of Hustler. I
noticed the fresh bruises on his face and turned to look at Recon, "Your
doing?" I asked pointing to his face.
He frowned, "Hell yeah, that's the least I could do."
I smiled and returned my attention to Hustler. "Now what's with the long
face? Come on you can tell me what the matter is?" Hustler shrugged and
refrained from making eye contact with me.
"You're not usually this quiet mate, I'm sure you've got a lot you want to
get off your chest." He glanced in my direction and quickly looked away
and I knew I was getting to him. "Well you'd better hurry up and tell me
everything that's on your mind as you're about to meet the same fate as your President."
Again, his eyes flashed towards me with an uncertainty but he didn't say
anything.
I stood, "Oh sorry, didn't the guys tell you I do apologise." I
unzipped my jacket, pulled out Onyx's colours and threw them onto the ground in
front of Hustler.
"He begged me to get him an ambulance or even call one of you lot to come
and pick him up but as you can imagine I couldn't possibly do that because he
killed my best mate." I stepped forward and stood on top of his colours,
"But he gave me these as you've seen on the video, right before I slashed
his throat."
Hustler stood and surged forward but I was ready for him. I managed to get him
in a headlock and twisted him around until I had him in a chokehold on the
ground. "I just wish that Onyx put up this much of a fight, it would've
made it a hell of a lot more interesting." I pulled my blade from its
sheaf and held it in front of Hustler as I held him firmly on the ground with
my legs wrapped around him. Onyx's blood decorated the knife and I knew that
this would have the required affect on him as he now knew what his fate would
be. It was then that I heard the sound of the sirens and the lights from the
top of the police vehicle lit the area around us.
"Fuck!" I cursed, I slowly let go of Hustler but
before he could get away completely I ran the blade from his ear to his mouth
exactly how the club had branded Locke all of those years ago.
"Aaargh you fucker," he screamed as he brought his hand to his face
before rolling from my embrace. I placed my blade back into its sheaf and stood
cupping my hands in front of me waiting to be arrested.
"Sorry guys, this is all my doing. Just put all of the blame on me and say
you were just here to protect me."
"CJ shut up you know the rules, don't say shit." I rolled my eyes at
Duke's comment, I knew the protocol but I was past caring. I'd completed what I'd
set out to do albeit Hustler was still alive but it had given me a purpose for
the past couple of months.
We watched as four police vehicles parked in front of us.
Several people from the unmarked vehicles made their way towards us and a tall
athletic built man led the way through the undergrowth.
"You must be Duke," he extended his hand and Duke took it although I
could see the uneasiness on his face.
"And you are?" he asked as he shook his hand.
"Detective inspector Banks, I'm in charge of operation Collegiums."
Duke raised his brows as if asking him to explain further. Banks chuckled,
"Oh please forgive me it's Latin for gangs, I'm in charge of cleaning our
streets of vermin."
He was a live wire for sure, I rolled my eyes knowing that we were all screwed.
We never trusted a copper to start with but a copper who thought he was funny was
a deadly combination.
"You see 'Duke', can I call you Duke or is that too familiar?"
"No that's fine," he replied folding his arms across his chest.
"Good, well Duke we've been following you lately and we understand that
you've had a bit of bother with our notorious MC." Duke nodded and I was a
little concerned as to where this line of questioning was going. If these
coppers were in the Satan's pockets, we'd all be going down for a long time especially
as I'd just killed the President of the club.
"Do you wanna cut to the chase otherwise I've got a feeling that we'll be
here for a while."
Detective Inspector Banks sniggered, "The direct approach, I like that."
Duke glanced around the group and frowned when he made eye contact with me.
Banks clicked his fingers and pointed towards the five Satan's members still
knelling on the ground and the police officers rounded them up.
"What the fuck is going on? They've murdered Onyx, you know that right so
why aren't you doing anything about it? I want it on record that he, yeah him
there fucking murdered another man." The officers that had hold of Hustler
didn't bat an eyelid as they escorted him along with Slick, Fix and Cookie
towards the meat wagon.
Once they were loaded, the officers drove away, I glanced around the group
again and the whole situation just seemed surreal. It was only then that I
noticed Damian, he hadn't been ushered away and my brain was working overtime
trying to work everything out.
"We've had the Satan's under surveillance for years. We
needed to make sure that we had everything watertight before we brought them
in. We couldn't allow the club to get off should we bring them in because as
you can appreciate that would be embarrassing." Banks held his hands
behind his back and paced up and down in front of us contemplating his next move
and I had a horrible feeling that I wasn't going to like it.
"Your friend Jake put a spanner in the works when it came to light that he
was working...how should I put this, undercover. Now I know that your club
didn't know anything about it, I suppose he was a maverick wanting revenge on
the people who murdered his family and rightly so, I think I'd be thinking the same."
He stopped and looked directly at Duke, "But when he murdered Priest and
then Polar our operation sort of fell on its head and I pulled some of my men
from the job thinking that he was going to clear up singlehandedly." He
sniggered at his own comment and went back to pacing again. "Now
unfortunately we didn't know that they were going after Jake and we can only
apologise for that but that incident also opened a can of worms because we knew
that you would then want revenge and fast forward a couple of months and here
we are." He extended his arms towards us as we all stood quietly not
knowing what he was about to say or do.
He let out a sigh, "Damian or Jon as we like to call him, informs me that
you're actually a nice group of guys and as far as I can tell you run a very
legit tight ship down in Essex. I've done some digging myself and as far as I
can see, you're keeping your noses clean. Now if I were to search you all now,
I'd probably have enough to put you away for a couple of years but I'm looking
at the bigger picture here guys so you need to bear with me." Again, he
stopped but this time in front of Diesel, "You've got a baby on the way
like Duke so you can't afford to be going to prison and as for you," he
walked over to me. "You've got bigger things to think about, Keira needs you
more than ever now that she's carrying Jake's baby so you can't afford to be
getting into trouble either." Banks stepped back to look at the whole
group, his little speech was just to let us know that he'd conducted some
research and knew about our lives.
"So what am I to do boys? Hmmm do I arrest you all, create a whole media
storm about biker gangs in the UK and how they seek revenge and kill each
other? Scare the local community so that every time they see someone on a
Harley Davidson, they think that they're going to be shot at or stabbed? Or do
I give you this one warning, send you packing with your tales between your legs
and say that I'm watching you and if you ever step out of line again, I'll be
on you like a tonne of bricks." Banks strolled over to Duke, "What do
you say Duke, who holds all the power here?"
Duke drew his brows, "What's the catch?"
Banks placed his hands onto his chest covering his heart, "I'm hurt that
you would even think that." Duke rolled his eyes, "Please save me
from your sarcasm."
Banks smiled, "I'm a sixty-two year old, father of three beautiful
children and have been in the force longer than most of you have even been
alive. I've seen things and done things that even some of you wouldn't want to
experience in your worst nightmares so because of all of these life experiences
I would say that I'm a very good judge of character. I'm giving you the benefit
of the doubt, I'm not saying that you're angels and I'm most certainly not
saying that I agree with everything that you've done but I can't afford for
there to be a media shit storm on my watch. I've got a couple of years left
before I retire and I'd like the full package available to me."
"What, you're just going to let us go?" I asked confused as to what
he was actually saying.
He looked confused, "Don't worry CJ you'll be watched you have my word on
that but as far as I can see, you've got your revenge you don't need to be here
anymore. So you need to go home and concentrate on your own lives and families
and be upstanding citizens."
He turned on his heels and walked towards the car closely followed by Damian
leaving us all gobsmacked, "Oh I nearly forgot." He caught our
attention and we all turned towards him. "Where are the drugs?"
We all glanced around the wooded area towards the place in which the fight had
broken out earlier. "Holdalls, as far as I'm aware everything should be in
those holdalls," Diesel shouted.
Banks smiled, "You've got half an hour and I want you gone, do you
understand?" We all nodded in unison but didn't move until all the police
officers had moved from the vicinity.
"Fucking hell!" Duke let out a sigh as he made
his way over to the group.
"What the fuck has gone on?" I rubbed my hands over my head trying to
make sense of the past half hour.
"I'd just say that we are very fortunate indeed that he doesn't want to
make the six o'clock news this evening." Duke smiled and opened his arms
wide to embrace as all. We hugged, patting each other on the back at the
surreal turn of events this afternoon.
"But let this be a lesson to you all boys because he's gonna be watching,
he's said as much and with the information he has we could all be going down
for a long time." Diesel placed his hands into his pockets and rocked back
and forth looking almost grateful.
We turned to the sound of vehicles travelling down the dirt track and was
surprised when they stopped beside us despite the police still being in the
vicinity.
The rear door flew open and Keira did her best to manoeuvre herself from the
car. I strolled towards the vehicle and I was surprised that she took up speed
despite her pregnancy and ran towards me with her arms held out wide. I scooped
her up into my embrace and felt her lips touch mine as I kissed her back with
exactly the same fruition. I ran my hands through her shoulder length hair
grabbing it to pull her closer as we kissed with raw emotion. This was two
people discovering, figuring each other out but at the same time experiencing
feelings and emotions for another, that would always hold a dear place in our
hearts. I didn't know what the future would hold for myself, Keira and the baby
but I knew one thing for sure, there was no way that I wasn't going to be part
of her life, I just didn't know in what capacity it was going to be.
As we broke from the kiss, there were a number of different facial expressions
greeting us from the group and I couldn't make out if the consensus was good or
bad but this wasn't the time or the place to discuss further, I was just
grateful that she was back safe and well.
I wrapped my arm around Keira's shoulder and walked her towards
the car to greet my siblings.
"What the fuck are you doing with them?" Fallon looked humble as she
exited the car.
"Erm...well I..." she looked sheepish.
I drew my brows, "Well come on it's not usually like you to be lost for
words."
"She created a trap so she could be taken." I glanced in Eli's
direction before returning my attention back to Fallon.
"You fucking what?"
Fallon rolled her eyes, "It's not like that they're creating drama as
usual."
"Well what is it like then? Go on, tell him exactly what happened."
Finn had now joined us and he had a maddening look on his face.
"Well we didn't know where Keira was and I knew that I'd been spotted when
I came out to see you in the hotel car park."
"Really?" I asked confused as I was sure I hadn't been followed.
"Yeah, there were two guys in a red Ford. They didn't hide the fact that
they were taking photos but I didn't want to worry you."
"For fucks sake Twizz so what did you do?" I asked exasperated.
"When you left they got out of their car to follow you and I was worried
that they'd see your Harley and radio through to Onyx so I confronted them and
they put two and two together and the rest is history." She spoke as if it
were no big deal, the fact that she'd been kidnapped either didn't register or
she just thought she was going for a ride in a strangers car.
"And how did you know they would take you to Keira?" I squeezed her
shoulder reassuringly, pleased that she was here with us in one piece but still
pissed off by her actions.
"Well I didn't, I just hoped that they would."
I rolled my eyes and looked over to the guys questioning her motives.
Finn shrugged and opened his arms wide, "I'm past trying to figure out how
the female brain works mate, especially hers."
"Erm can I stop you all for just one minute?" Fallon stood with her
hands on her hips and stared us all down.
"Well even if we do object it looks like you're going to do it
anyway," Rian spluttered before sniggering loudly.
Fallon raised her brow disapprovingly, "I would just like to point out
that not only did they take me to the same place as Keira, that you were also
able to track me with this stupid device." Fallon held her arm up high and
pointed to the watch we had bought for her so we could track her every move."So
I would say that was a very good day at the office and I will be expecting a
huge Christmas bonus." She smiled brightly, "High five Keira."
Keira sniggered and stepped forward to high five Fallon to the dismay of the
rest of the group.
"I'll never understand women," Finn threw his hands up in the air
before turning on his heels to join Duke and the rest of the group. We followed
suit as there was a lot that needed sorting out but we needed to leave soon as
we were under strict orders from Banks.
"Well I'm glad that everyone has come out of this
unharmed but we really need to be making a move. Time is ticking and Banks has
already been more than fair so I don't want to out stay our welcome. Does
anyone want to say anything before we set off?" Duke looked around the
group and nodded at the lack of response.
"Oh hold on a minute, there's something that I need to attend to before I
head back."
Duke drew his brows, "Is there an issue I should know about."
"No it's all cool but I've gotta do this because I promised."
Recon understood what I was talking about, "Do you want me to come with
you?"
"Nah I'll be cool, probably quicker on my own if I'm honest."
He nodded, "Okay but I'm only a call away."
I turned my attention to Finn, "Are you okay to get Keira home
safely?"
"Not a problem," he smiled and turned in the direction of the car.
I stepped closer to Keira and placed my hands onto her tummy, "You need to
take it easy. I've just got something that I need to take care of, then I think
we need to sit down and have a proper chat when we're back home."
"I couldn't agree more," Keira lifted her head and I met her half way
to place a kiss onto her lips.
I smiled and loosened my hold on her allowing Keira to make her way to the car.
I watched as she sat inside and fastened her seatbelt and was all too aware
that a couple of the guys had joined me.
"I know some of you are going to kick off because you don't agree but can
we leave the negative comments until tomorrow. I'm exhausted and haven't got
the energy for an argument." I didn't look at the guy's, I didn't need to
seek reassurance or even need their blessing, all I knew was that it felt right
and I was a firm believer that if it put a smile on your face then it was
obviously good for you. I bent down to pick up my helmet from the ground and
strolled over to my motorcycle as I fastened it under my chin. The ride over to
Charity's would take me around 45 minutes and I was grateful for that as it
would give me the time needed to try to clear my head a little.
"Hi," Charity greeted me with a small smile as she
peered through the gap of the door.
"Are you going to take the chain off and let me in, I don't bite." I
tried to make light of the situation but she was worrying me with her
reluctance to open the door.
"Erm yeah, hold on." I stepped back and she closed the door and I
heard the swoosh of the safety chain being released before the door was opened.
"That's better, am I okay to come in?" I asked impatiently.
Charity nodded and stepped back allowing me the space to enter the house. I
took this opportunity to glance around my surroundings, it was a decent sized
house and it was kept immaculate I just wondered if it was all Charity's doing.
I turned to see her standing uncomfortably as she bit down on her lip.
"What's the matter sweetness?" I asked stepping around the sofa to
join her.
"Charity you need to give me a fucking hand I can't..." I turned to
see a bird in her mid twenties who looked more Essex then some of the Essex
women I knew. Her appearance made me snigger but I could tell from her
expression that she wasn't in the mood for my banter.
"And this is?" she asked Charity totally ignoring me.
I screwed up my nose at her gesture, "Are you for real love?" I asked
her directly before turning my attention to Charity. "Sweetness, we have a
bloody long drive ahead of us so throw some things quickly into a bag. I wanna
be leaving in 10, 15 minutes at the very most." Charity looked uneasy and
glanced between myself and the Essex wannabe.
"Erm...she ain't going anywhere, she needs to help me."
"Well that's where you're wrong babe. Charity is coming home with me and
there ain't a thing you can do to stop that happening."
She scoffed, "You obviously don't know who my old man is."
I sniggered, "Erm yeah I do and I'm not exactly scared." I glanced at
Charity and nodded for her to get her arse in gear.
"No hold on a minute missy, you answer to me."
I laughed again, "Sorry if I'm mistaken but hasn't he asked you to move
your arse out of here by today?"
She narrowed her eyes, "Yes but that's only temporarily."
"Really? You're as gullible as you look then."
She held her phone and swiped through the screen as I quickly made eye contact
with Charity, "Now, get a move on." She smiled at me before walking
into the kitchen area and through a door on the right hand side wall.
I returned my attention to the bird, who had the phone pressed firmly against
her ear. "He won't answer babe."
She rolled her eyes, "He always answers to me."
"Okay how should I rephrase this then, he can't answer."
"And why not?"
"Coz he's fucking dead, you see I had to slash his throat because he was a
little bitch."
"I don't believe you, Onyx is the President of the Satan's Wrath."
"Oh very impressive babe, it's a shame that he didn't act like that when he
gave me his colours." I perched on the arm of the sofa ready for the
backlash from Onyx's bitch.
Her eyes widened, "He'd never hand over his colours."
"Well that's what I thought, I'd rather die than hand mine over but he did
it quite freely."
"Whatever, shut the door on your way out." She pointed towards the
front door and I sniggered.
"That's fine babe I'll do that but Charity is coming with me."
"You'll so regret this," she swiped her screen again and tapped away
before placing the phone to her ear.
"So I take it you're calling Hustler now." Her eyes met mine with a
concerned expression, "You see the thing is sweet, he's on his way to her
Majesties pleasure so he can't answer either so I suggest you go about your
business and just leave us to it." I stood as Charity entered the room,
"Are you ready babe?"
She nodded, "Yeah I am."
"Charity you can't leave, this is your home."
"Pffft whatever. I'm not even having this conversation with you this is so
not my home." I was proud of her for giving this bitch a piece of her mind
and waited for her to walk towards the front door before I joined her.
"Have you got a helmet?"
"Yeah I'll take this one coz by the sounds of things Onyx won't be needing
it anymore." I sniggered and wrapped my arm around her shoulder as we left
the house ready for our long journey home.
