Making Music: A Serrano Novel (Book 1) (The Serranos) by Bryce Winters (11)

Landon and Derek agreed to leave the party separately and meet up in the parking lot. Landon rejoined the group at the bonfire, pretending he hadn’t just made plans to spend the night with their professor. When Derek joined the group a few minutes later, Landon had to turn away or risk exposing their plot. It didn’t take long for Derek to start making his farewell rounds.

Landon pulled out his phone and sent off a quick text to Royce. He was banking on his roommate being too busy with his new girl to see it right away. He knew Royce would be angry with him. He would ask for forgiveness later.

After twenty excruciating minutes, Landon slipped away. He held his breath until he reached the parking lot, afraid that somebody might spot him and call him back. Cue an extra thirty minutes of goodbyes. Landon didn’t have the patience for that tonight.

He had something far more appealing to take care of.

Derek stood leaning against a sleek, black Mercedes. Landon almost didn’t see him, his dark features helping him blend into the shadows.

Unlocking the car, Derek held the door open for Landon. Landon kicked off as much of the sand off of his shoes as he could before tucking his feet in. Neither man said a word as Derek slid into the driver’s seat and turned the engine. The low rumble of the engine made Landon’s breath catch.

They were really doing this.

The car ride back into town seemed to stretch on indefinitely. His palms were sweating against his jeans and couldn’t seem to stop fidgeting. Derek maneuvered the car through town, not once glancing at Landon. And Landon would have known. He watched Derek from the corner of his eye during the entire ride.

After an eternity, Derek parked the car in a quiet, familiar neighborhood close to campus. The coffee house was just around the corner.

Derek and Landon sat in the car, silence filling the space. The gravity of the situation wasn’t lost on either of them.

“I can take you home if you’ve changed your mind.” Derek’s voice was soft, as though his words would disrupt the spell between them.

Landon met Derek’s eyes, bottomless pools in the dark, and shook his head.

Derek gave a slight nod and exited the car. Landon followed Derek up the sidewalk and onto the covered porch.

Like most houses on the block, this one was a craftsman style with good strong bones. The paint was peeling and a couple of the steps leading to the porch were cracked. Many of the houses on this block looked similar. It was a college town. Most landlords didn’t waste time or money on maintaining their properties. Not when the next tenants would damage more.

“Did you buy it?” Landon asked as Derek pushed open the door. “The house,” he added when Derek glanced back at him.

“No. I’m in a year-long lease for now.”

The living room sprawled in front of them. A leather sofa, chair, coffee table occupied most of the space. A flat screen TV had been mounted on the wall above the old brick fireplace. Landon spotted several shot glasses and spools of thread on the coffee table. A small leather case sat beside them. He knew the case contained sharp knives. He had watched others make reads in the lobby of the music building. The sight of the tools eased Landon’s shoulders.

“Drink?”

Landon shook his head, moving his focus to the tall man next to him. Derek had flipped on a few lamps in the living room, casting a soft glow. Landon appreciated the affect the light had on Derek’s pale skin.

He wanted to see more of it.

Landon took a few steps toward Derek, who had turned away to hang his jacket in the closet next to the door. He stepped close, crowding Derek, pressing his chest up against Derek’s hard back. He brought his lips close to Derek’s neck, grazing it. He felt Derek stiffen in response and allowed the feral grin to emerge.

“I’m not thirsty,” Landon said, feeling much braver now that they were behind closed doors. The whole house smelled of Derek, the warm woodsy scent combined with sweet. Arousal pooled into a thick, heavy weight in his abdomen.

Derek whirled and pushed Landon up against the frame of the closet. Landon groaned at the impact, desire shooting through his body like electric currents. Derek pressed his hard chest into Landon’s. Landon’s circled his arms around Derek’s trim waist, gripping the thick gray sweater and tugging it up.

Derek’s hands clasped Landon’s wrists, stopping the motion. Derek pulled Landon’s hands away from his body and pinned them to the wall. He grinned as Landon arched against him, a low moan erupting from his mouth.

“Derek.” His blood was on fire, his heart threatening to burst. He needed his fingers on Derek. He needed to feel the smooth hardness of the man in front of him.

Derek pushed his hips into Landon’s, his grip tightening on Landon’s wrists. Derek’s thick erection was unmistakable, pressing hard against his own. Landon let his eyes shut as his head fell back against door frame behind him.

“God,” he groaned, pushing his hips forward.

Landon felt rather than heard the deep chuckle rumbling in Derek’s chest. Derek brought his head down to Landon’s ear, letting his lips trace the edge. Landon shuddered as he felt the sharp sting of Derek’s teeth biting the lobe.

“Come with me,” Derek whispered, before stepping back abruptly. He kept a hand on one of Landon’s wrists and gently tugged him forward.

Landon’s shaky legs managed to carry him through the living room, toward a short hallway on the right. There were three doors, in a rough semi-circle. Derek pulled Landon into the door on the far right.

A large bed took up most of the space in the room, flanked by two nightstands. The headboard was slatted and made from a sturdy, dark wood. A dark blue duvet draped over the sides of the mattress. Landon took a deep breath. Derek’s scent was stronger here.

“You alright?” Derek asked, his voice tentative.

Landon nodded, not wanting to speak. He stepped forward into the room, noting the matching dresser. The walls were bare and there weren’t any personal items left out for him to discover.

Derek shut the door behind them, the sound a quiet snick, casting the room into darkness. Landon listened as Derek moved to one of the nightstands and flicked on a lamp. A warm glow filled the room. Landon turned to Derek.

Both men stared at each other, neither daring to move.

“Are you sure?” Derek asked again.

Landon rolled his eyes, breaking the tension. He strode forward and pulled the man toward him, one hand carding into Derek’s thick, black hair.

Their lips met with a desperation that had, until now, remained hidden. Landon’s lips parted under Derek’s, welcoming the man’s hot tongue to caress his own. Landon felt a hot rush at the scrape of facial hair. Their hands roamed up inside each other’s sweaters, stroking at the skin they found.

Derek stepped back once more, grasping Landon’s hands. Landon growled at the broken contact.

“Eager, are we?” Derek’s chuckle was throaty.

“You drive me crazy,” Landon said, his frustration evident.

Derek leaned forward, his lips once again grazing Landon’s.

“Kneel.” His voice took on a hard, authoritative quality that made Landon’s stomach clench. He sounded just like he did during rehearsal.

Landon dropped before the man, his knees cracking against the hardwood floor. He hissed a little before reaching up toward Derek’s fly.

“No,” came the sharp command. Landon froze mid-motion. “Use your mouth.”

Landon’s eyes widened as he looked up to Derek’s. He saw the confident, demanding conductor. A smirk lifted one corner of his lips, his eyes glinting with pleasure.

“Yes, professor,” Landon whispered. His face broke out into a mischievous grin at Derek’s sharp gasp.

He looked back to the task before him, calculating how he would open Derek’s jeans with his teeth. Leaning forward, he pushed the soft fabric of Derek’s sweater up with is nose until he met hot, tight skin. He inhaled deeply, marveling at the darker, richer scent. It was so different from the scent at his neck. Using his lips and teeth, Landon pulled at the clasp, smirking when it gave way easily. Shifting his position, Landon grasped the zipper with his teeth and slowly, so slowly tugged it down.

He could hear Derek’s deep breaths fill the air. Not wanting the moment to end, Landon nuzzled into the opening of Derek’s jeans. Finding the erection straining against fabric, Landon opened his mouth and breathed hot air against it. He moaned as Derek’s hips twitched forward. He allowed his lips to come into contact against the hard length.

Reaching up, Landon gripped the loose denim around Derek’s knees and yanked. The jeans pooled around Derek’s ankles, revealing black boxer briefs and pale thighs. Derek made no move to step out of the jeans.

“That wasn’t your mouth,” he said, his voice rough. Landon looked up to see Derek smirking down at him.

Landon answered the smirk with one of his own. “What are you going to do? Punish me?”

Derek’s hands slid into Landon’s messy hair, gripping hard enough to bring tears to Landon’s eyes.

“If necessary,” came the blunt reply. Then the hands began to massage Landon’s scalp, easing the burn.

Landon reached up once more, daring Derek to object. When Derek said nothing, Landon’s finger curled into the waistband and tugged it down.

Derek was beautiful, long and thick with just a slight curve upward. The tip glistened in the low light. Landon wasted little time and swiped his tongue at the bead gathering there. The smooth hardness against his lips made both men groan. Landon felt Derek’s fingers tighten in his hair.

Landon hands roamed over Derek’s hard thighs, drifting up toward the hard planes of his stomach. He curled his fingers, lightly dragging his nails down as he moved his mouth down the length.

A sharp tug in his hair pulled Landon away. He bit his lip so the whimper wouldn’t escape.

“You crafty fox,” Derek said. His voice was breathy, but stern. Landon looked up at the dark eyes, not bothering to hide his grin.

Derek’s eyes narrowed. “Stay right here. Do not move.” Stepping out of the jeans and underwear, he moved toward the nightstand on the opposite side of the bed. There, he removed a box of condoms and a bottle of lubricant. Landon’s cock twitched as he watched Derek open the box and take out three packets. Derek placed them on the nightstand, his gaze meeting Landon’s.

“To make things a little bit easier,” he drawled.

Landon swallowed hard and watched as Derek stalked toward him, rounding the bed once more. His cock throbbed, his knees ached, his palms itched, his breath coming in too quick pants.

He had never wanted anybody more than in that moment.

Derek gripped Landon’s shoulders and helped him to his feet. Their mouths met, Derek sucking Landon’s bottom lip between his teeth, biting gently. Landon couldn’t stop the moan. His own hands pushed Derek’s sweater up and over the man’s head, briefly breaking their kiss. Landon ran his hands over Derek’s broad shoulders and down the man’s pecs, enjoying the bunching muscle.

Derek hummed, bringing his lips to Landon’s neck and giving a quick bite.

“You’re still dressed,” he murmured.

“And who’s fault is that?”

Derek’s hands went to work, pulling Landon’s sweater and t-shirt over his head in one motion. He pushed Landon’s pants down over his hips before Landon realized what had happened. The boxers were next, finally releasing his hard cock from its confines. Cool air hit Landon’s skin and he shivered, his nipples stiffening. Derek’s thumbs gravitated toward them, rubbing circles deep into them.

Landon kicked his shoes, pants and boxers off his feet just as Derek pushed him roughly onto the bed. Before Landon could adjust, Derek was over him, pressing him into the cool comforter, his mouth hot and hungry.

Landon’s hands were everywhere. He had been watching Derek for weeks, fantasizing about the feel of Derek’s body underneath all those tight clothes. He reveled in the feeling the warm skin, the springy hairs on Derek’s chest and legs tickling his palms. Landon arched his hips high, aching for Derek.

Derek chuckled, keeping his hips high above Landon. His lips wandered down Landon’s jaw, his neck, onto his collar bones where Derek sucked hard. His fingers flicked at Landon’s nipples, making Landon gasp. He pulled Landon up further onto the bed before settling between his thighs. He stroked the sensitive skin of his hips.

Landon cried out as he felt Derek’s hot mouth close over him. Hands gripped the comforter of the bed, needing something to anchor himself to. Derek’s tongue and teeth drove Landon right to the brink within moments. Landon moved his hands to Derek’s hair, desperate to pull the man off him.

“Stop, shit, stop,” Landon said. To his relief, Derek lifted his head, giving Landon a feral grin. “You’re going to kill me,” Landon added between pants.

“Hopefully not quite yet,” Derek responded with a smirk. He moved lower, kneeling on the floor beside the bed. Pushing Landon’s legs up and over his shoulders, Derek blew hot air over Landon’s exposed entrance. Landon keened, throwing his head back against the bed.

Derek took his time preparing Landon. He licked softly, helping Landon relax before inserting first one finger, then two. Derek massaged the area and suckled. Landon couldn’t stop the noises erupting from his mouth. Landon would have been embarrassed if Derek hadn’t been thoroughly making him lose his mind.

With one last kiss, Derek reared back up and onto the bed, crawling over Landon. He coaxed Landon further up onto the bed, allowing more room for Derek to settle between his legs. Landon watched as Derek reached over to the nightstand and grabbed the bottle of lube and a condom. Derek held the lube out to Landon.

“Would you hold that for me?” he asked, his face a complete mixture of pleasure and demand. Landon reached up to take it, his fingers shaking slightly.

Ripping the packet open with his teeth, Derek rolled the condom onto himself. Landon’s breath left him in a rush as he realized again just how much Derek wanted him.

Meeting the man’s eyes, Landon saw the unspoken question in Derek’s eyes.

Are you sure?

Landon smiled and offered Derek the bottle of lubricant in silent answer.

Absolutely.

Derek took the bottle and poured a liberal amount onto his hand, slicking it over himself. Landon heard the snap of Derek closing the bottle and saw him toss it somewhere above Landon’s head. Derek aligned himself against Landon and slowly, gently began to push forward.

Landon tried his best to stay relaxed, but the initial sting left him wincing and hissing out a breath.

“Look at me,” Derek’s tight voice demanded.

Landon’s eyes flew open and met with Derek’s dark ones. They were narrowed in concentration. Landon suddenly realized how close Derek was to losing control. The idea of Derek letting go sent a hot wave of arousal through him, helping him forget the momentary pain. Landon nodded for Derek to continue.

They maintained eye contact as Derek entered him. Derek stilled, his length buried within Landon, his chest heaving and his arms shaking. Landon bit his lip and wiggled his hips. Derek clenched his eyes, his jaw against the sensation.

“I’m okay,” Landon whispered. And that was all Derek needed.

Derek pulled out a little ways before slamming home, making Landon gasp in a mixture of pleasure and pain. Derek’s head lowered into the juncture of Landon’s neck and shoulder. A slight moan met Landon’s ears.

“Landon,” Derek sighed, giving Landon a quick bite to the shoulder as he moved again.

Landon raised his hands to Derek’s back, lightly scraping his nails over Derek’s ribs and spine. Derek lifted his head, a playful glare etched onto his features. He grabbed Landon’s wrists, pinning them together in one hand and forcing them up above Landon’s head. Derek pressed them into the mattress, arching Landon’s back. Derek lowered his mouth, maintaining eye contact with Landon and bit one of his nipples.

“Jesus, fuck!” Landon squirmed hard, trying to break free. Derek’s grip was unyielding.

Derek’s pace quickened, responding to Landon’s sharp cries and gasping breaths. Landon watched, fascinated, as Derek’s control slipped further and further.

“Yes,” he whispered, egging Derek on. “This is what I’ve wanted since the first moment I saw you.” And it was true.

The words had the desired effect on Derek. He clenched his eyes closed, his grip brutal on Landon’s wrists. Derek’s other hand reached down and tilted Landon’s hip, allowing Derek deeper access into Landon.

Landon saw white as Derek brushed up against that deep, dark space inside him. He heard Derek’s voice encouraging him when the roar in his ears lessened.

“The sounds you make. God,” Derek moaned. “I’m close.”

“Please,” Landon begged. “Derek.”

Derek’s eyes met his. “Again. Say my name again.”

Derek.

Landon heard Derek’s guttural groan, feeling him stiffen. There was a rush of warmth inside him. Landon watched Derek’s face, tight with pleasure, lips parted to allow for gasping breaths. Then Derek’s hips moved, hard and rough, hitting the spot Landon needed it most. His own abdomen clenched hard as he was sent over the edge.

Derek collapsed on top of Landon, nuzzling into the Landon’s neck. Landon smiled at the small, gentle kisses Derek offered. He had released Landon’s arms, and Landon brought them down around Derek’s shoulders. His fingers played with the ends of Derek’s dark hair.

“God. We need to do that again.” Landon said, arching his chest up against Derek’s.

Derek nipped at Landon’s ear. “Couldn’t agree more.”
