Making Music: A Serrano Novel (Book 1) (The Serranos) by Bryce Winters (18)

The dull roar that met Landon’s ears as they entered the bar made Landon smile. He loved loud and energetic places. When Derek had asked where Landon would like to go for dinner, Landon had only answered, “any place that’s loud and has good food.”

Royce had turned down their offer of dinner. Landon knew Royce wanted to give Derek and Landon some time together and he couldn’t help but feel a little guilty. Royce had given Landon a hard time and whispered in his ear to enjoy his time with Derek. Out loud, he claimed he expected to hear all the dirty details when Landon arrived home. Royce parted with a quick wink, sliding into his car and zooming away.

Landon and Derek had taken Landon’s luggage back to the hotel Derek had checked into. It was a tall building nestled within downtown San Francisco. They rode the elevator up in silence. Derek had reached for Landon’s hand, threading their fingers together. Landon’s smile hadn’t faded since.

They didn’t spend long in the room, just enough time to drop off the luggage and freshen up for dinner. And for a brief make-out session. If Landon’s stomach hadn’t growled in protest, Landon had no doubt he would be naked on their bed at this moment.

“Landon?”

Landon blinked, his mind returning to the restaurant. Derek looked at him with a concerned frown. Landon smiled, leaning close.

“Just imagining all the things we could do in that hotel room,” he whispered with a suggestive grin.

Derek cleared his throat, fighting the blush that was already dusting his nose. Landon chuckled.

The hostess escorted them back to their table, nestled along the wall of windows offering an uninterrupted view of the Bay. Sky High Brewery sat atop one of the tallest buildings in downtown San Francisco. The additional bar and seating on the rooftop was a boon over the summer months.

Derek reached over to grasp Landon’s hand as they looked over their menus. Landon had a hard time focusing, enjoying the feel of Derek’s long fingers against his own. He gave Derek’s fingers a soft squeeze, which Derek returned. Landon bit his lip, enjoying the excited warmth in his belly.

“What are you having?” Derek asked.

Landon looked up at Derek, giving a mischievous grin. “No idea. But I know what’s for dessert.”

Derek’s grip tightened on Landon’s fingers before Derek gave a low chuckle.

A few moments later, the waiter brought by their beers and took their order. Landon couldn’t stop staring at Derek. He knew he should be appreciating the view of the Bay, but Derek was finally his. The Bay could wait.

Landon knew he would never tire of seeing the way Derek’s dark eyes lit up when he caught his gaze. Or the way his lips would quirk upward on one side, as though remembering a secret thought. He pulled Derek’s hand to his, lifting the fingers to his lips. He brushed his lips over them, letting his eyes heat with desire.

“You keep doing that, we’re not going to be here long enough to enjoy our food,” Derek murmured, his voice low.

“Maybe that’s the plan.”

Derek laughed before extracting his hand from Landon’s.

“Tempting. Very tempting. But I think we should talk.”

Landon froze, his heart stopping.

Derek reached for Landon’s hand immediately, pulling it across the table toward him.

“No, not like that,” Derek said, worry in his eyes. “Shit, I’m sorry. There’s nothing wrong. There’s nothing you need to worry about.”

Landon sucked in a breath before sitting back. He brought his free hand up to rub at the back of his head.

“Sorry,” Landon said. “You’re right, of course. We have some things to iron out.”

They sat in silence, tension drifting between them. Finally, Derek dropped Landon’s hand and lifted his own to his face, rubbing it harshly.

“I have to ask,” Derek began. “You still want to go to San Francisco Conservatory?”

Landon frowned but answered without hesitation. “Yes, absolutely. It’s too good of an opportunity to miss.”

Derek nodded. “Excellent. I’ve already turned in my resignation at Tri-Pac, effective at the end of the semester.”

Landon’s jaw dropped. “What?”

Derek shrugged, giving Landon a smile. “I wanted you to be able to have free reign of where you want to go to school. If you want to stay at Tri-Pac, you can now. If you want to go to San Francisco, do it. I don’t want you to have to hide anything anymore just because of me.”

Landon’s throat closed as a burn started in his eyes. He blinked fast, swallowing hard to prevent the tears from forming.

“But if you’re set on going to the Conservatory, there are plenty of schools nearby that I can apply to. I know it’ll be a good place for us.”

The waiter arrived, their food in hand. Landon took a few breaths to calm himself.

Derek had quit his job for him. Without any guarantee of finding another position like it. The Bay Area was a tough job market. What if Derek couldn’t find a job? What if he began to resent Landon for it?

“Hey, don’t worry,” Derek said once the waiter left. “I have connections here. This is my hometown, remember?”

Landon nodded, though the knot in his stomach remained.

Derek reached over and took one of Landon’s hands, prompting Landon to look up and meet his gaze. He saw nothing but happiness and warmth in them. The knot of tension began to dissipate.

“You’re worth it. You’ll always be worth it. We don’t have to move in together right away, I don’t want to push anything on you…”

“No, I’d like that,” Landon interrupted, his blush returning. He didn’t care if it was too soon. He never wanted to spend another day apart from Derek. “I’m sure we can make it work.”

Derek’s grin could light up the Bay. “Great.”

They ate their food, talking about San Francisco and what it was like for Derek to grow up in the city. City living was a completely foreign concept to Landon. Having grown up in one of the most remote locations in Northern California, he was used to wide open spaces. He couldn’t help but feel a little claustrophobic. But even though then, he was more than happy for the open acceptance he already had found in this city. Just being able to hold Derek’s hand in the middle of a restaurant made any city inconvenience worth it.

“I was hoping we could walk back to the hotel together,” Derek said as they exited the building, “but the rain doesn’t make that very appealing, does it?”

Landon gave Derek an easy smile. “I don’t mind the rain, do you?”

Derek gave an answering smile in return, turning the two of them toward their hotel. They clasped hands and walked down the street, the rain making their hair and jackets damp.

As far as first dates go, Landon knew he lucked out. He had the man he loved holding his hand while walking down the streets of downtown San Francisco in the rain.

“I love you,” he said, tugging on Derek’s arm to stop their walk. “I can’t even believe this is really happening.”

Derek smiled, pulling Landon close. “I love you, too.”

Their lips met softly as the cool rain settled on their faces. Landon sighed as the pressure from Derek’s lips increased, parting Landon’s to allow his tongue to enter. Landon gasped at the invasion and gripped Derek’s waist, pulling him closer.

Derek pulled back after a few moments, moving his mouth up to Landon’s ear.

“We should get to our hotel room,” he murmured. Landon shivered at the dark promises within that voice. He only nodded, unable to give Derek a verbal response.

Derek stepped back and grasped Landon’s hand, guiding him further down the street. He increased his pace, making Landon laugh as he half-jogged to keep up. It wasn’t long before they reached the hotel. Derek dragged Landon through the foyer and into the elevator.

As soon as the doors closed, Derek was on Landon, pressing him up against the wall. His mouth descended on Landon’s with a growl. Landon met him equally, lips already parted to give Derek the access he wanted. Landon moved his hands upward to card his fingers through Derek’s dark locks, pulling him closer. Derek let loose a low growl, his hands digging into Landon’s hips.

The elevator doors slid open and Derek pulled him out of the elevator and down the hall. Landon pressed himself up behind Derek, thrusting his hips into Derek’s ass. Derek fumbled with the keycard, hissing a curse. Landon chuckled. The door finally clicked open and the two men rushed inside, slamming the door behind them.

“You’re incorrigible,” Derek said. He grabbed Landon, turning to push him chest first against the door. Holding Landon still, Derek ground his own aching erection into Landon’s hips.

Landon keened against the door, trying to hold his moans in. The door wasn’t exactly soundproof.

Derek leaned close, his teeth nipping at the nape of Landon’s neck. “Is this what you were hoping for?”

Landon could only nod, biting his lip.

As suddenly as Derek had pinned him against the door, Derek was gone. Landon draped against the door, desperate for something to hold on to. He turned, bracing his back against the door, watching as Derek walked away, his strides easy and loose. As though he hadn’t just assaulted his boyfriend and left him on his own.

Derek calmly slid his jacket of his shoulders and down his arms. He undid the top two buttons of the dark purple shirt he had changed into. Landon remembered telling Derek once that the shirt was Landon’s favorite on him. It had made Landon’s heart quicken when he noticed Derek slip it on before dinner.

Derek slid a look to Landon as he unbuttoned the shirt further.

“Are you going to stay there all night?” he teased.

Landon glared before he pushed himself off the door and strode toward Derek. Keeping eye contact, he dropped to his knees before Derek. He reveled in the look of wide-eyed surprise before he reached forward and unbuckled Derek’s belt, sliding it through the loops. He pulled open his fly before Derek could stop him. Leaning close, he enjoyed the feel of Derek’s hands sliding into his hair. They clutched and relaxed, as though unsure whether to pull Landon away or tug him ever closer. Landon opened his mouth over the hard length still clothed in Derek’s thin boxers and exhaled hot air.

Derek moaned, his hands tightening in Landon’s hair. Landon brushed his lips against the erection, enjoying the feel of Derek’s hard cock. The dark unique scent of his sex hit him square in his abdomen, stoking the fire hotter.

“God, Landon,” Derek groaned. Landon looked up. Derek’s eyes were closed, head tilted back. He watched as Derek licked his lips before his mouth fell open.

Reaching up, Landon gripped the edges of Derek’s pants and boxers and pulled them down in one quick motion. Derek’s erection jutted upward, a deep angry red. Landon wasted no time, darting forward and inhaling the length into his mouth.

He was rewarded by Derek’s sharp tug in his hair and a loud hiss.

“Fuck!”

Landon would have grinned if he could. Instead, he focused all his efforts on giving Derek the most pleasure he could. He reached underneath, letting his hands graze Derek’s tight balls. He gave a low moan when Derek jerked up against him, sliding his cock deeper into Landon’s mouth.

It wasn’t long before Derek was pulling Landon away. Landon gave Derek a satisfied smile when he realized how close he was to losing control.

“The death of me,” he whispered, his words broken. He pulled Landon to his feet. “You do to that for much longer and we will be ending the evening much too quickly.”

“Oh, we wouldn’t want that now, would we?” Landon teased, walking backward towards the large King sized bed. Maintaining eye contact, Landon pulled at the buttons of his shirt and tossed the garment off . Next were his pants, underwear and socks. He crawled onto the bed on all fours, his ass displayed prominently for Derek. He looked back at Derek, a come hither stare in his eyes.

“Goddamn,” Derek whispered. Landon watched as Derek lost his composure and scrambled to get out of the rest of his clothes. After a few muffled curses and plenty of laughter on Landon’s part, Derek finally joined Landon on the bed.

The bed was huge and covered with a fluffy white duvet and more pillows than Landon had ever seen on a bed before. He grinned at the dirty idea of using some of those pillows in more creative ways.

Derek pushed Landon onto his back and leaned over him.

“You dirty, dirty tease,” he growled before pushing his lips down onto Landon’s. Derek’s hand trailed over Landon’s chest, teasing the nipples and causing Landon to arch upward. The kiss could only be described as wanton, Landon opening himself up completely to Derek.

Derek’s hand drifted lower, nails scratching lightly against Landon’s belly. Landon tried to move away from the hand, but Derek gripped Landon’s hips to still him. Then the hand lead a torturous journey down Landon’s legs, drawing circles in Landon’s inner thigh.

Landon pulled back from the kiss, gasping for air. His heart raced, his lungs burned. He clutched at the sheets beneath him, desperate for Derek’s touch. His eyes met Derek’s and he let the full force of his glare out.

Derek chuckled before resting his hand lightly against Landon’s hard, throbbing erection. Landon sobbed with relief, letting his head fall back and eyes roll shut. He arched his hips, thrusting upward sharply, wanting more contact, more pressure, more anything.

“Desperate, aren’t you?” Derek teased against Landon’s ear. He allowed his lips to drift further down to Landon’s neck, nipping as he went. He came to Landon’s nipples, swirling first one, then the other with his tongue. He kept his touch light on Landon’s cock, causing Landon to growl low and jut his hips forward again.

“You keep doing that and you won’t get your reward for good behavior,” Derek said.

Landon’s eyes met Derek’s, once again with a full glare. Then his hands tightened once more in the sheets and he stilled. Derek tickled the sides of Landon’s ribs.

“Breathe,” he reminded.

Landon sucked in a breath before letting it out on a loud and long moan. The obscene sound filled the room. Derek couldn’t help but thrust his own hips forward, rubbing his cock against the soft duvet.

Derek’s grip tightened on Landon’s now dripping cock. He gave it a few hard strokes, massaging the liquid into Landon’s skin. Landon arched off the bed, unable to contain himself. He felt as though he were on fire. He needed Derek, needed him so bad he couldn’t see straight.

“Please,” he begged, his voice broken into sobs.

“Please, what?” Derek asked.

“I need you.”

“For what?”

Landon growled. Derek laughed. He leaned up to Landon’s ear again, nipping the lobe between his teeth.

“Use your words.”

“Fuck!” Landon gasped. “Fuck me, please!”

Derek’s hand disappeared from Landon’s cock, causing the blond to whine in frustration.

“Relax,” Derek said, his tone gentle. He pulled away, leaning toward one of the nightstands. He opened the top drawer and lifted out a small bottle of clear liquid. Landon’s eyes widened in appreciation.

“I want you on your hands and knees. I want you on top of me, riding me. But right now, I want you just like this, splayed out as though you were on display for nobody but me.” Derek’s voice was low and rough. Landon shivered.

“Yes,” he whispered, promising that they would have a chance to get to do all those things.

Derek knelt between Landon’s thighs, pushing them up. He grinned at Landon.

“You’re so goddamn sexy. All that tan skin, those muscles. Fuck. I could eat my dessert off those abs and enjoy licking it clean.”

Landon whimpered at the visual.

Derek popped open the bottle of lubricant, coating his fingers. Then he brought his hand down, lightly tracing the slick fingers over Landon’s cock, down toward his balls. He swirled a nonsensical pattern over them, before drifting lower. Landon’s hips squirmed, but a quick swat to his ass stopped the motion. Landon’s eyes widened before a smirk grew on his face.

“Oh, yeah?” he asked.

“Yeah,” Derek said, his cock jerking at the idea of punishing Landon. “You would deserve everything I’d want to give you.”

Landon couldn’t stop the moan, letting his eyes roll closed. He reached for his cock, hoping to give himself some relief. Derek slapped his hand away.

“No. Not until I tell you to.”

“Holy fuck,” Landon said, his voice dropping to a quiet whisper. Derek’s demands were driving him crazy.

Derek’s slick fingers circled Landon’s entrance. Landon bit his lip as Derek massaged the outer ring and slowly slipped one finger inside. He tilted his hips, urging Derek on.

“Not so slow. I can take it, I promise,” Landon said.

Derek nodded, slipping in a second finger. Landon gasped, involuntarily tensing up before he forced himself to relax. He sucked in a few deep breaths. He opened his eyes, which he hadn’t realized he had closed against the intrusion. He focused on the look of concentration on Derek’s face, loving how those dark eyes were filled of nothing but him. Nothing but want for him.

Derek’s eyes rose to meet his as he slipped a third finger in. Landon keened, low in his throat and bit his lip hard. He felt Derek’s fingers slip in and out, going deeper and deeper with every thrust. And as wonderful as it felt, it still wasn’t what he wanted. And he was done being patient.

“I’m ready. I’m ready. Hurry up and fuck me, please.”

Derek withdrew his fingers and quickly ripped open the condom. He slid it onto his length and slicking it with more lube. The bottle snapped closed and Derek threw it down on the bed. He hooked Landon’s legs over his arms, pushing Landon in half, exposing his ass. Derek lined his cock up against Landon and sank into him.

Landon couldn’t stop the wordless shout that filled the room. The heat, the weight, the pressure inside him was too much. Too much. He squirmed, needing the pressure to move.

“Move,” he growled. “Fuck!”

Derek didn’t say a word, just withdrew and slammed back inside Landon. He set a ruthless pace, pounding into Landon as though his world depended on it.

Landon let loose an endless stream of moans and gasps. His hands reached upward, intent on touching Derek, grabbing on to Derek and holding tight. Derek slung Landon’s knees over his shoulders and bent him further, reaching deeper and deeper into Landon.

Landon knew he wouldn’t last long like this. And from the sounds Derek was making, he wouldn’t either.

“Fuck, I want you to come inside me. I want to know what that feels like, your cum dripping out and down my thighs, even hours later.”

“Shit, fuck, Landon.” Derek voice was low. He reared upward and held Landon’s legs aloft, snapping his hips forward. Landon reached forward and dragged his nails down Derek’s chest and abs.

“I’m… I’m, fuck, gonna come,” Landon moaned, feeling the tightness gather at the base of his spine. He heat spread throughout him. “Derek!”

His release shot up over his stomach and chest, the white hot pleasure raking its fingers all over his body. He felt Derek tense, his hips stuttering before he shouted his release. Derek held still, frozen by pleasure before collapsing on top of Landon.

Derek’s chest heaved, sweat dripping down onto Landon. Landon wrapped his arms around Derek, reveling in the slick feel of Derek’s muscles.

“Fuck, that was amazing,” Landon said, his own heart rate slowing. Derek nodded his head, unable to speak, letting his lips and tongue caress the side of Landon’s neck.

After catching his breath, Derek rolled to the side and stood from the bed. He cast Landon a look, the unspoken demand to stay. Landon didn’t think he could move if he tried. Derek walked into the bathroom. Landon heard the water run for a few minutes before Derek returned, a wet cloth in hand.

Derek took his time cleaning Landon up, each touch sending sparks through Landon. Derek tossed the cloth aside and crawled onto the bed beside Landon, hauling him close.

“I love you,” he whispered into Landon’s ear.

Landon snugged into Derek’s chest, the excitement of the day finally catching up with him.

He grinned at the events of the day. Rocking the audition had been amazing, but it paled in comparison to Derek’s arrival. Derek’s apology and confession. And their first real date. Landon had never felt more cherished, more wanted in his life. He would show Derek that he meant just as much to him.

“I love you, too.”
