Passionate Roar: A Zodiac Shifters Paranormal Romance: Leo by Solease M Barner, Zodiac Shifters (6)

Davina

I awake alone in bed. I didn’t expect to be alone after the night Landon, and I had, but here I am alone in this huge bed. I’m not sure if he stayed at all, but I think he could have at least been here when I opened my eyes. I shouldn’t be angry, because sex doesn’t mean we are a couple, but it does mean respect to me. As I go to get out the bed, my body reminds me of the night with Landon. I’m sore and satisfied.

I put my top back on and pajamas pants. As I’m walking to the kitchen, I hear voices of others in the house including Landon’s mom. I turn slowly trying to go back to my room when I hear Landon call my name.

“Davina, your just in time for my mom’s breakfast it’s the best.” I want to run back to the room and get back in bed, but Landon with his big mouth calls me.

I come into the kitchen, and everyone is sitting, while his mom is at the stove.

“Come sit with me,” James says.

The look Landon gives his brother is deadly, but he doesn’t get to be possessive. He didn’t even respect me enough to be there when I woke. I walk over to where James is sitting and pull out the chair staring at Landon with a smirk.

“Davina has my brother been nice to you?” James asks. Before I can respond Landon speaks.

“I’ve been nothing, but nice to Davina. You should not worry about Davina James.” Landon’s voice is commanding.

I look, and everyone is staring at me with wide eyes. I reach for the coffee and ignore the feeling that everyone knows Landon and I had sex last night. His intense eyes are on me; I take a chance and look up, and he winks at me.

He’s enjoying that everyone is staring at me.

“Landon have you told Davina about your gift.” His mother says.

Some of the others around the table all start smiling and nodding like I should know his special gift.

“No he hasn’t, but I would love to know Landon.”

His mother sets down two pans of scrambled eggs, a big pan of bacon along with plates of toasts, pancakes and even fruit.

Landon looks at me, and his eyes are dark then turn a fire orange color. My eyes widen, and he laughs.

“I’m not just a great lion king, I was given the gift from the sun god to transform into a fire walking lion.”

I look at him like he’s a little crazy, but it seems everyone at the table looks pleased that their king has this ability.

“Fire Lion…you mean to tell me that when you shift you become a fire lion?” I ask.

“Yes, and to my knowledge, I’m the only one that has this gift currently.”

“There’s no way I am going to believe that until I see it.” I challenge.

James starts laughing and so does some of the others at the table. It’s like they are all in on a joke, but I’m excluded.

“Just remember you challenged him, Davina,” James says, shaking his head.

“After breakfast Davina, you and I can go for a run, and I’ll show you, but then you will owe me a favor of my choosing.” He says, stuffing his mouth, but his eyes are on me.

I couldn’t back down even if it meant owing Landon.

“I look forward to seeing the fire lion.” I tease.

Everyone starts talking and eating. Landon eats in silence laughing occasionally at James’ jokes, but every time I look his way he’s looking at me. I glance over at his mom and she smiles at me and offers me some biscuits.

The more people start to settle back into their chairs the more I realize that not only did I challenge Landon, but now I must change in front of him and could possible owing him a favor. I hate being in debt to anyone.

Landon pushes away from the table and stands.

Everyone’s conversations stop, and he has all eyes on him.

“Davina, it’s time for us to go on our run, besides I like to run with all new members of my pride. I need to know the animal as well as the human part.” He states.

I push away from the table and stand too.

“Well, I need…”

“You need to follow me, Davina, everything else will wait, come.”

I want to defy him and go to the room, but I get the feeling it will not go over well with anyone at the table.

He walks out the back door, and I follow. James and his mom follow behind us, among a few others from the table. It’s like they all couldn’t wait to see the special gift of fire lion.

When we step out on the back porch, the sun is high and bright. Landon walks off into the field and looking at him under the sun he looks so peaceful and happy. I walk off and come closer to him stopping a few feet away.

“You can come closer Davina.”

“If you turn into a ball of fire Landon I don’t want to burn up.”

“You will not burn unless I want you to, now let’s get out these clothes.”

I look behind me, and everyone is still watching. Then James yells out.

“Landon try not to frighten the new member.”

Landon smiles at his brother and then yells back.

“I’ll try, she doesn’t believe me and as is my nature I must show her I will never lie.”

Landon rips off his shirt, and it’s in shreds on the ground. He’s being a show off right now. I roll my eyes and pull my shirt over my head gently. The only one who can see my breasts is Landon. Even though it’s common to get undressed with shifters around, I’ve never been comfortable doing it, since I’ve always been alone.

Landon pushes his pants down and my mouth waters. I should have made sure to taste him, but he controlled everything during sex including my release. After my pants are off, I place my hands on my hips waiting for this fire lion to happen.

“Ladies first Davina, change, run, and I’ll chase.”

“What? You’re the one with the special gift, you change first.”

He looks at me and shakes his head no. I look back and fold my arms over my chest.

“Change before I start chasing you now.” He teases.

Unsure whether he would chase me. I get down on the ground and start my transformation.

My back arches into the air and my mouth extends, and I can feel my body going from human to lioness. My eyes stretch, and my teeth start to get bigger and longer, and I can even feel the hair pushing through my frame. Soon I’m on all fours in front of Landon.

He then speaks.

“Your fur is deep orange and dark brown Davina very unusual, but by far the most beautiful lioness I’ve ever seen.”

I open my mouth and give a little roar at his approval, but then I take off running. He doesn’t know, but I’m as fast or faster than others. That’s when I hear him behind me, it’s not what I expected.
