Weapon (Three Blades Book 1) by D H Sidebottom (13)

Elsie

Euan appeared nervous when he pressed the buzzer for apartment number eight. When a female voice sounded through the intercom, he slightly flinched. “Amanda.”

At first, I didn’t think ‘Amanda’ was going to let us in, the long pause after Euan declared our arrival a sign that maybe they hadn’t parted on the best of terms.

However, the door buzzed and clicked open.

Amanda was tall, blonde, and ‘perfect’. Her large chest and sparkling blue eyes made her striking, and the way her frame didn’t hold an ounce of fat made me bite my lip with a hint of resentment.

She was even more perfect, though, when she opened the door to Euan and floored him in one single punch.

“I like her,” I told him as I stepped over him.

Holding out my hand, and smiling at Amanda, I introduced myself. “Hi. Thank you so much for this.”

She stared at me for a moment, then smiled and nodded. “Come in.”

The place was immaculate. Everything perfectly clean and in its place. I was almost scared to sit on the spotless plump cushion in case I made too much of a mess for her.

Tehni and Felicity both twisted their lips and gave me a knowing gaze when Amanda excused herself for a moment to ‘talk to Euan.’

“History,” Tehni sniggered. “A lot of history.”

My throat ached a little, and a tightening in my chest caught me off guard. I swallowed, not liking the feeling, and made a point of staring around the room some more.

Muffled voices came through the closed door, and we all jumped when Amanda shrieked “YOU FUCKED OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FUCKING NIGHT!”

“His-tor-y!” Tehni reiterated slowly.

“Place is a bit… OCD,” Felicity commented. She looked pale, and I winced for the pain she must have been suffering.

Grabbing her some more pain relief, I nodded. “Hmm, not sure how she’s gonna cope with us here.”

Tehni laughed, and whispered, “Very badly. I’m sure taking another punch or two at Euan will ease her distress.”

I chuckled. “I think we could learn something from her.”

“She’d love Ebony,” Felicity laughed, referring to the utter destruction Ebony left in her wake. “But I can’t imagine how she’d react if Frank’s guys turned up here and tore the place down.”

The thought had occurred to me too, and I grimaced. “I think we should get out of here, and leave the lovers to it. I’m not sure Amanda is the type to keep quiet if we wreck her home.”

“The window?” Tehni smirked, indicating the number of floors up we were would be a fun challenge. “Shouldn’t be a problem.”

“Speak for yourself,” Felicity grumbled. “You haven’t got a hole in your gut, Sister.”

“Hey, I have a hole in my arse and one in my cunt. We’ve all got holes, hun.”

The atmosphere crackled when the door opened, and Amanda caught Tehni’s comment. I stifled my laughter at the sour look on her face. The night was going to be sooo much fun.

“Have you all eaten?” Amanda asked.

We all nodded, the awkwardness in the atmosphere between Euan and her engulfing the air from the room.

“I’m sorry for inconveniencing you, Amanda. This is really good of you. We’ll be out of your hair first thing.”

“Oh, you’re not the problem, love. It’s the arsehole in the jeans that make my teeth vibrate.”

Tehni snorted, then looked down at her jeans and frowned.

“If I could wash?” Felicity asked, the coating of blood on her starting to dry.

“Sure, I’ll show you where the bathroom is.”

“I’ll give you a hand,” Tehni offered and helped Felicity out of the room.

“Sorry about that,” Euan apologised with a grimace.

Shrugging, I shook my head. “Your business isn’t my concern.”

He narrowed his eyes at me, catching the bitterness in my voice, but then a smirk tilted his lips. “You sure do blush when you give away your feelings.”

Gritting my teeth with anger, I chose to ignore him and scooped up my bag. “I’m turning in.”

I gasped when his hand grabbed my hair, and he spun me round. Crashing his mouth over mine, he kissed me with a thirst that appeared to be unquenchable. His teeth nipped at my bottom lip, drawing blood and making my taste buds explode with excitement.

Arousal floored me. It was unexpected and unwanted. Yet, the more I tried to pull away, the harder I kissed him back.

His t-shirt scrunched in my hand, and when I yanked at it, I barely heard the material rip through the roaring in my ears.

My back slammed against the wall, the back of my head bouncing with force, as his large hand curled around the front of my throat. His tongue twisted with mine and his groan of need filled me with lust.

I’d never experienced anything like it. I couldn’t get enough, yet I needed him to stop. I didn’t want to want him. I wanted to punch him, make him hurt for what he was doing, but at the same time, I wanted to force his face down between my legs so he could taste exactly what he was doing to me.

His grip tightened on my throat, and I responded by digging my fingers into the back of his head to pull him even closer. The heat in his eyes intensified when I placed my other hand over his that curled around my neck and squeezed harder.

My belly throbbed and my pussy practically hurt with need.

His eyes opened, and the fierceness that glared back at me made my heart pound in my chest.

I inhaled sharply when he grabbed my pussy, and he pressed the heel of his hand against my clit, the thin fabric of my leggings not inhibiting any feeling whatsoever. Heat exploded through me, and my head fell back against the wall.

I was struggling to breathe as he rubbed harder and clutched my throat more firmly. The effect made my blood pump harder around my body, increasing every sensation and making my legs tremble.

“Give it to me,” he demanded, his voice gruff and quiet. “Let me have it, Elsie.”

“No,” I spat through the tightness of his hold.

He grinned smugly, then bent his head forward and bit my nipple.

The orgasm that erupted through every inch of my body made my knees buckle, and I slumped down the wall, ecstasy over-ruling my denial and making me experience every bit of the pleasure I didn’t want him to give me.

I glared up at him. “You arsehole.”

He shrugged, still wearing that stupid smug grin. “I think I’ve already been called that today. Liven up, sweetheart. At least be original.”

He wasn’t smiling anymore when I swept out my foot and took him to ground. He hissed when I slammed his face into Amanda’s thick-pile carpet and yanked his arm behind his back, holding him firmly and painfully underneath me.

“That original enough, prick?”

“Prick is better,” he countered. “Although, this is really quite hot.”

Closing my eyes, exasperated, I climbed off him. “Don’t do this, Euan. Please don’t do this?”

He frowned, sensing my quick change in mood. “Elsie?”

“Just don’t,” I reiterated. “I’m too exhausted to do this.”

He stepped towards me, and when I tried to back up, the wall behind me impeded any chance of retreat.

“What are you so scared of, Elsie?”

The gentle look in his eyes made me look away. But when his hand tenderly framed the side of my face, I couldn’t help but lift my gaze to his. “This. Exactly this,” I whispered before slinking under his arm and walking away.

The urge to touch him was becoming unbearable and I had to fight with everything I had to stop myself from turning back around and giving in.

His touch always softened something inside me, warmed the ice that I had constructed to help me survive. And giving in to that would prove fatal.
