Lane (Grim Sinners MC Book 1) by LeAnn Ashers (11)

Amelia

“Dad, remember that girl I had the biggest fucking crush on in the sixth grade? It was Amelia,” Lane says. “I had good fucking taste back then too.” He looks me up and down, his eyes heated.

I blush and watch as Smiley laughs at his son; then his smile drops. “Your parents are dicks.”

I roll my eyes because I guess everyone knows them; they must have a bigger reputation than I thought. They do have a habit of thinking they are better than other people, and my sister is just like them. They were never mean to me exactly, just not caring or considerate parents.

“Yeah, tell me something I don’t know.” I sit down in Lane’s lap, and he kisses the side of my neck. Goose bumps break out across my skin.

“You know you don’t have to go tomorrow, right?”

“I want to, Doll.”

Alright then, that was his last chance to back out. Honestly, he will just make it a little bit more bearable—I have dealt with them for years and years—but it will be nice, for the first time ever, to have some support and feel like I am not alone.

It’s sad when you feel alone surrounded by family.

“Come on, let me introduce you to the women in the club and the other guys you haven’t met yet.”

He leads me through his club courtyard, and this place is huge. Apparently, there is enough room for every single member and his family along with a safety room in the bottom for the women and kids.

There aren’t very many women and kids in the club, only the first generation—and that includes Smiley and his brothers. Lane and many of the other MC guys are their kids. They have prospects who try to get into the club, but they go through a shit ton of stuff to prove themselves.

Grim Sinners don’t fuck around with their members. They aren’t your everyday kind of men—that’s for sure. He has one crazy-looking fucker that hangs in the back. Wilder is the vice president, and there are around eighteen other MC guys.

Can I say ovary explosion?

Wilder walks up to us and stands next to me. “How’s the shorty?” I huff and punch him slightly on his muscular arm, which ends up hurting me worse than it hurts him.

“Easy, killer. Lane, control your woman.”

Lane just gives him his shit-eating grin before pulling me close to him.

“What fun is a controlled woman?” He winks at me.

We stop in front of the scary fucker. “This is Derek, Amelia. Derek, this is Amelia.” Derek nods and I smile at him. He cocks his head to the side and nods at Lane.

Lane pulls me away and we move on to the next person. “What just happened?”

“He approved of you.”

Ah, now I get why he nodded to Lane. “Does he not talk?”

Lane shakes his head. “Not really, but he does when it’s important.”

Yeah, I understand that and that makes him mysterious. Maybe he just needs a woman? “You know who he would look cute with?”

He rolls his eyes but plays along, “Who, Doll?”

“Danielle.”

He laughs. “They are total opposites, he is quiet and she is very bubbly.”

I shrug. “They say opposites attract!”

“You may be right. Next time we have a party here, invite her.”

I smack his ass. “You got it, Babe.”

Lane puts his hand behind my head and pulls my hair slightly at the roots, enough to get my attention but not hurt me. He would never hurt me— I can fully one hundred percent say that.

“Behave, Baby, or I will just have to make you acquainted with my room here.”

I smirk and grab his leather vest with both hands, pulling him to me. “Now that sounds like fun.”

He laughs and kisses my forehead. “Whatever will I do with you, Doll?”

I scrunch up my face. “Umm, maybe keep me?”

Lane spends the next thirty minutes introducing me to all his MC brothers, and I couldn’t tell you their names even if I wanted to. I just call them Big Fuckers One through Eighteen.

“Those three guys over there are prospects. I won’t bother introducing you, because they probably won’t even be around that long.”

“I understand.”

“Let’s head inside! The food is delivered!” Lane yells and everyone starts heading inside the clubhouse. The scary fucker, Derek, holds the door open for everyone. Lane and I are the last ones to enter.

The clubhouse is different than I expected at first glance. It’s almost one huge room. A bar lines one wall, and a shit ton of tables fill the left side of the room. A huge entertainment center is in the middle. It doesn’t look like a bachelor pad, like I expected. Everything is tastefully done.

I spot some women sitting on the couch and I nudge Lane. “Who are they?”

“Let me introduce you.”

They smile as we approach and I notice that, besides one woman, they are all older than I am.

“Amelia, these are ole ladies of the first generation.”

I smile at the seven older ladies, and they smile back politely; then I notice Adeline and wave at her. “It’s nice to meet you guys. Lane, I am going to hang out for a while with the ladies.”

He studies my face for a second and kisses my cheek before walking away.

“Girl, he is fucking whipped. My name is Darla and I am part of the first generation, Wilder is my son.”

Darla has this motherly look that makes me want to hug her. “Ahh, I see you guys have the same eyes.” She beams at me happily and rises from the couch, immediately pulling me into a hug.

She lets me go and I am put into the arms of another woman, whose name is Cynthia, then Opal, Charlene, Jessica, and Faith. Adeline is last—she is, by far, the sweetest in the group. I can feel the goodness coming off of her.

“This is Brittany, she is my daughter,” Darla tells me, and I pull Brittany into a hug. She is a beautiful girl who looks around twenty-one or twenty-two. She is a bit larger than I am and it looks damn good on her; she has curves in all the right places.

“You’re gorgeous!” I say and she smiles.

“So are you!”

We are going to be best friends for sure. I want to take her under my wing. She looks at something across the room, and I follow her gaze to see her staring at Derek—and he is staring at her.

Hmm.

“I don’t know about you ladies, but I am famished,” Adeline pipes in and I nod.

All of the guys already have their food. Lane has an open seat next to him and I smile. He looks me up and down, and I shake my head at his antics.

“I love seeing Lane like this. He is such a badass, I love seeing his playful side,” Brittany whispers to me and I glow at her praise. I want Lane to be happy and easygoing.

The other ladies are halfway down the line, and I eye the food. I hear someone snicker, and I raise my eyes to see some of the guys who are catering the meal laughing. They have a major fuckboy vibe to them. One of them is giving me major douche vibes with his pretty-boy looks.

“Those crab legs are calling my name and that chocolate cake.”

“Me too, girl.” I hand her a slice of cake and take a fork off the table.

“You sure you need more chocolate, fat ass?”

What the fuck did he say?

Brittany is setting her plate on the table. If looks could kill, he would be six feet under. “What the fuck did you say to me?”

“I said you are a fat ass, you look disgusting standing there with that chocolate.”

“Ohhh, you asked for it.” I laugh and spot his hand lying flat on the table. I slam the fork down on the back of his hand. It embeds deeply into his skin. He screams and throws a fist in my direction, and I duck. I slam my glass plate over his head. He ducks and I take that split second to grab the back of his head, my fingers deep in his hair. I slam his face right into the chocolate cake.

“Apologize!” I scream.

“I am sorry for calling you a fat ass, but you are though!” he screams.

Oh he is asking for his ass to get kicked. I lift his head and slam it back down on the table, and I hear a crunching sound, much to my satisfaction.

Brittany bursts out laughing beside me, and I let go of his head in shock. What the fuck did I just do?

I hear clapping behind me, and I turn around to see everyone standing behind me with shit-eating grins on their faces.

“Doll, what did he do?” Lane asks, his voice ice cold, and steps closer.

I wipe my hands on my jeans. “He was calling Brittany a fat ass.”

“Big mistake.” Darla rubs her hands together. Wilder and a man who looks a lot like Wilder step forward. Derek beats them all to the punch, though, and pulls the guy from the table.

“I think we need a talk.” The guy is carried away, followed by Wilder and a man I am assuming is their dad.

My guess is that he is getting his ass beat again.

“Well, girl, you got to him before I did, but I can still have my fun.” Brittany winks and follows her brother and dad.

Oh fuck, this girl is a badass and I had no clue.

Lane presses his lips to my ear. “Do you know how hot that was?” He grinds his hard-on into my backside.

Oh boy.

I shrug. “I don’t like assholes, and I will not allow someone to get bullied. She is beautiful and should be treated as such.”

“You just earned the respect of everyone here when you stood up for her, that’s what a president’s ole lady does, and you just proved you’re no one to be fucked with.”

I don’t just attack someone for no reason at all, but I will not let someone be degraded right in front of me. I wasn’t mean to put on a show, but I have a huge temper and when it’s unleashed it’s unleashed. You better watch out.

“Well, you can give me some head later since you’re so proud.” I feel his body shaking with laughter, and I smile at everyone in the room. They are looking at me with new eyes, especially Darla.

“I hope they didn’t hear that,” I whisper to Lane.

“We did!” someone in the back yells and I turn around, hiding my face in Lane’s chest.
