Bet On It by Jaclyn Quinn (7)

Ty hadn’t gotten much sleep after the turn of events with Spencer. When both men came down from their high, the awkwardness crept back in, enveloping him. He knew Spencer understood his retreat back to his room after they’d cleaned up. This was further than they’d ever taken things, and well, it changed everything.

Most importantly, it amped Ty’s craving, making it more intense than anything else he’d ever wanted. It scared the shit out of him but also gave him this excitement that he tried to hold on to. Ty hadn’t admitted all that to Spencer, but he sensed Spencer knew anyway. He appreciated the fact that Spencer was giving him time to admit it out loud.

Ty got the text late afternoon that Spencer wanted to go out that night. He told Ty to meet him at O’Neil’s at six-thirty and said they needed a break from “things” and a Friday night at the bar. Ty wasn’t complaining; he needed this reprieve too.

Walking into O’Neil’s, Ty spotted Spencer over in the corner with James and Eric. The bar was an Irish pub, with walls made of years-old brick, aged-hardwood floors, and dark green booths lining the back and left walls, while the bar ran along the wall to the right. Ty walked to the back, took a seat in the booth next to Spencer, and signaled over to the waitress for his usual.

This was the first time they were out with friends since things had changed so much at home. He didn’t know how to act now, feeling so incredibly uncomfortable and nervous. The waitress came over with his beer, breaking the panic he was beginning to create for himself.

“Hey, Ty. Here’s your beer, sweetie.” Their waitress, Tracy, dripped with sexual promise, hitting on Ty like she usually did. He’d taken that ride once or twice, knowing there were no strings attached…just pure, wild sex. Now he panicked, feeling Spencer’s body heat next to him, worrying he was betraying him somehow because he was being hit on.

“You gonna be around this weekend? I’m off. Could come over…” She slid her fingertip down his right bicep, and he felt like pulling away. Usually, that touch would shoot straight to his cock, playing it like a fiddle. Now, he just wanted to crawl under the table and hide. Preferably, between Spencer’s legs, snuggled in, nice and warm…

A nudge to his left arm brought Ty back to reality, heat covering his face when he realized what he’d been thinking about.

“I’m sorry. What?” He looked up at her, hearing his friends snicker as he rubbed his arm where Spencer had elbowed him.

“This weekend…I said I’m off.” She waited then added, “So...?”

“Oh, uh…” He felt Spencer staring at him, waiting for him to announce his decision. Just being asked this in front of Spencer made Ty want to turn and promise his best friend that he wanted no part in Tracy’s offer. The revelation slammed into him like a freight train. The thought of being with Tracy that way wasn’t what he wanted. Not now. How was it possible that his life had changed so drastically in a little over a month? The answer wasn’t something Ty could think about now. Not with everyone’s eyes on him.

“Sorry, Tracy, I’m sort of…seeing someone.” As soon as the words left his mouth, Ty felt incredibly stupid. Spencer had never said they were together now. Hell, he didn’t even know what Spencer wanted after the three-week bet was up. If he tried hard enough, he was pretty sure he could crawl into that hole in between the two bricks above Eric’s head. Ty closed his eyes, wishing for the moment to be over so he could down his beer in embarrassment.

That’s when he felt Spencer’s hand on his thigh under the table, squeezing tightly as if to reassure him. Ty let out the breath he’d been holding and took a huge drink of the cold, carbonated liquid.

“That’s too bad. Hope she treats you right.”

Tracy’s words made Ty want to bust out laughing. If she only knew…

“Dude, you really passing up on that?” James watched Tracy walk away…or rather, he watched her ass as she walked away.

“Yeah, and who the hell are you seeing?” Eric asked as he reached for another hot wing.

Ty had no clue how to answer that. Should he make someone up? Opening his mouth, he was about to come up with some lie when Spencer jumped in.

“He’s just not interested. Telling Tracy he was seeing someone was letting her down easy. You know, the whole it’s-not-you-it’s-me shit.”

“Okay, then how the hell aren’t you interested?” James asked.

Again, Spencer answered, “Not everyone is attracted to Tracy. Does it matter that I’m not?” Spencer’s tone held an edge that Eric and James were completely oblivious to but Ty caught loud and clear.

“Dude, you’re gay. That doesn’t count.” Eric reached in front of James to get the container of blue cheese dressing then looked up at Spencer. “Besides, you know we don’t give a shit either way. Hell, that’s more chicks for the three of us. Right, guys?” He nudged James and gave Ty a stupid smile.

“I’m just giving you shit.” Spencer squeezed Ty’s thigh under the table. “I know you don’t care who I fuck.” He looked at Ty then moved his hand away, but his point had been made.

Ty and Spencer got home late, walking in the door close to two in the morning. Spencer had driven them both, leaving Ty’s car at the bar. He’d had one—okay, maybe more like four—too many Jack and Cokes after the beer wasn’t cutting it and couldn’t drive his own car.

Ty followed Spencer down the dark hall to their rooms, pulling on Spencer’s hand before he went into his bedroom. “Hey, Spence?”

“Yeah?” He turned around to look at Ty.

“Do you think they knew? James and Eric… Do you think they knew about us? I mean, whatever this is.” God, he was screwing this up; he knew he was.

“What if they did? How would you feel about that?”

“Well, um, being your bitch for three weeks? Yeah, not so okay with them knowing that, but…” He paused, trying to gather his jumbled thoughts. It probably wasn’t the best time to have this conversation while half the blood in his body had been replaced with Jack Daniels.

But he had to know. Was this just sexual arousal between them or something more? Not knowing what else to say, Ty leaned forward and pressed his lips to Spencer’s. But when Spencer pushed him off, the hurt and embarrassment were overwhelming. Ty started to turn toward his room when Spencer grabbed his arm.

“No, wait. I just want to make sure you know what you’re doing. You’ve had a lot to drink, Ty.”

Ty couldn’t bring himself to look at Spencer, with his ego blushing as much as his face. “It’s fine. I’m just gonna go to bed.”

Before he could react in his drunken state, Spencer had Ty up against the wall, his body pinning Ty’s. “I said…wait.” Spencer’s tone was dark, strong, and sexy as hell. His blue eyes were piercing, holding Ty in a trance. Spencer brought their lips together forcefully, solidifying that he was in charge of this situation, not Ty.

Pulling their lips apart, Spencer demanded a response. “Is that what you want?” Pushing his body harder into Ty’s, making it impossible to put together two thoughts, Spencer kissed him again. This time, his tongue broke through the barrier of their lips, teasing Ty’s in a way he’d never thought possible.

Ty couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think. He just knew he didn’t want it to end. Spencer tasted so good, his tongue massaging Ty’s. But suddenly, he stopped.

“Tell me. Is that what you want?” Spencer demanded again, his tone triggering every nerve ending in Ty’s body to stand at attention. He was grinding into Ty now, pushing their hard cocks together. “I want to hear you say it.” The power behind his voice sent chills all over Ty’s body.

“Yes!”

“Yes, what?”

“Yes, that’s what I want, Sir!” Ty’s voice was rough as gravel, his throat and mouth so dry he found it difficult to swallow.

“Right answer,” Spencer whispered into Ty’s ear, hot breath caressing his skin. Then abruptly, he turned and went into his room. “Night, Ty,” Spencer said before closing his door, leaving an incredibly shaken Ty to stand there and wonder what the fuck had just happened and aching for more of it.

In a daze, Ty went into his own bedroom and closed the door. He lay there for hours after that heated kiss with Spencer. The guy had him so fucking confused lately and in a constant state of arousal. Finally, Ty took matters into his own hands and rubbed the hell out of that thing until his eyes rolled back into his head, cursing Spencer as he yelled his name when he came.
