Selena Lane by Jessica Carter (8)

Chapter Eight

This is a bunch of shit. I am waiting in my car in front of Caleb’s hotel. This dinner is just a fucking joke…just like Caleb. Does he think I am that naïve? Did he think I am the same Selena from college? I don’t believe his on and off again girlfriend story. What an asshole.

I see him walking—no, strolling—out of the hotel lobby as if he is doing a photoshoot. I scoot over on the back seat when he opens the door.

“Wow…you look stunning tonight. Green suits you.” God, I want to smack that smile off his face. “No ‘thank you’? No ‘you don’t look half bad yourself’? Are you still angry about last night?”

Holy Mother of Mary, he has lost his damn mind.

“Angry? Caleb, you lied to me…to me. I honestly don’t want to ever speak to you again. This is just work, and we shall act like such in the public eye. So for now, shut the fuck up!” I shift to look out the window. Anywhere but at him.

“Selena, look about yester—”

“Caleb, seriously, shut the fuck up,” I hiss. I feel something light fall into my lap. I look down and over to him. “What is this?”

“Evelyn’s rules. Richard printed it out this morning.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me.” What kind of women is he dating now?

“I don’t kid when it comes to work, please read, sign, and abide by it,” he says with no emotion in either his face or tone. This is new to me, and another side of the new Caleb I loathe.

Evelyn’s PS Rule Sheet

Don’t forget that he is mine always and forever

No kissing if not in public

Please refrain from using tongue while kissing

Don’t feel up on what’s mine

No calling his phone after 11 p.m.

The list goes on and becomes more ridiculous the further I get until I finally land on the very last rule…

NO SEXUAL INTERCOURSE WHATSOEVER

I glare at him. “We broke your sweet, precious Evelyn’s last rule.”

“And I will keep breaking it until we are through. I honestly don’t know why you are mad? I am not with her…I haven’t been with her since you came back into my—”

“Save it, Romeo, I really don’t care.” I hold the paper up so he can get a real good look at it. “This makes her your girlfriend no matter what you say. You handing out Evelyn’s “I don’t give a fuck about it” rule sheet means a lot more than you think it does.”

He snatches the paper out my hand, ripping it into pieces. “You aren’t just any woman to me. You never were, and never will be.” He grabs me, hauling me on top of him, straddling him. I wiggle, trying to get off, but his grip is like iron.

“Stop it,” he growls. “The more you move, the more I get turned on, and I will fuck you in the car.”

I stop moving, not sure if he is serious or not. I look over to see the driver focusing on the road, but I know he can still hear everything. The Caleb I knew wouldn’t be this reckless. He must have gotten tackled one too many times.

“Whatever.” I try pushing off him again.

“Selena…baby girl…you should know by now, I never turn down a challenge.”

He lets me go just enough to work his pants button and zipper, dig in his pants, and fish out his cock. He reaches a hand under my dress, slides my thong to the side, then pulls me down. Right on his cock; he looks in my eyes with a knowing smirk on his face. Yes, I am wet…wetter than I should be for him. He fills me completely, and my body shivers.

“Caleb.” I gasp, holding onto his shoulders, grinding onto his lap. This is so fucking wrong. He slips his fingers between us, finding my pussy and rubbing my clit. Then it happens all too soon, I come undone hard. He tries to move his hand away, but I whimper, and he stops. “Keep rubbing.”

This has always been my downfall. Hot men and sex, combine the two, and I am a walking contradiction. Nothing will come of this; I know it, and I am pretty sure he does too. This will be my last time screwing him. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

He holds my waist tighter, thrusting inside me faster. I swear he has to be balls deep. I open my eyes to see him staring at me, and I know that look…

“Stop…looking at me…like that,” I moan. Fuck, he’s going deeper. He grunts, lifting his hips off the seat. I feel his cock twitching inside of me—he’s close too.

“Fuck, you feel so good.” He kisses me. I moan into his mouth as he hits home, and I go with him. My head falls onto his shoulder. I haven’t had backseat sex in years; this is one hell of a way to kick it back off.

The driver clears his throat. “Sir…ma’am, we will be arriving in just a few seconds. Paparazzi will be there once I pull up.” Damn, he reads between the lines. I slide off Caleb and this time he doesn’t protest. We fix ourselves just in time.

“Do not touch me again…are we clear?” I stare out the window, not trusting myself to look at him. Walking contradiction for sure.

“Selena, you know that is something we won’t be able to do. I can’t keep my hands to myself, not after having a taste of you. It’s damn near impossible now.” Before I can respond, the driver opens Caleb’s door, and there go the flashing lights.

Lights. Camera. Action.

The paps can’t wait to see us, to ask questions, to know more than they should already. It won’t be long before someone digs up our past. My past. When my family finds out I lied about Caleb and our entire breakup, my mother will be livid, but not as much as my sister. She loved Caleb as if he was her brother, and my lie made her hate him.

“Everything alright?” Caleb asks as we take our seat in a booth away from the other restaurant goers.

“You’re such a di—”

“Difficult person, I know. Since you walked out of my life, I’ve changed.”

“Not the word I was looking for. I am going for di—”

“Did you think I was going to stay the same person once you left me? I was heartbroken, and that’s putting it politely.”

“Caleb, shut up for once!” I slam my hand on the table. The silverware shakes from the impact. “You don’t get to tell me how you feel or felt and think I should forget you have a girlfriend, or whatever you want to fucking call her. It’s not fair.”

“Fair? You want to talk about fairness when you have no clue what that is. You left me because your lousy fucking agent said so. What happened to that agent, huh? Where the fuck is she now?”

I don’t know what is scarier—the fact that he is right, or that he is calm. “It happened five years ago. Why are you bringing that up now?”

He lets out a laugh, a “you’re fucking kidding me” laugh. “I haven’t seen or spoken to you in five fucking years. You up and left me, Sele—”

A waitress stops at our table. “Can I get you two something to drink?”

“Whatever she wants put it on my tab. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to stay.” He smiles at the waitress, standing up.

“Sure.” She looks over at me with pity. I don’t need pity. I need to get the photoshoot over with and move on with my life like I have been doing for the last five years.

“Excuse me,” he tells the waitress as he walks around her and says nothing to me.

I will not chase him. I don’t chase men period.

“What would you like to drink, ma’am?”

“A pitcher of Vodka.”

“Sorry, we don’t serve that here.”

“I am well aware of that. I was just making light of my situation. I’ll take two shots of tequila and two scoops of ice cream.”

“Right away, ma’am.”
