Undaunted: The Kings of Retribution MC by Crystal Daniels, Sandy Alvarez (24)

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

Bella

Waking up, I groan at the pain behind my eyes. My head feels like it’s going to explode and my body feels heavy. I go to bring my hand up to my head, but my arms won’t move. I realize my hands have been tied behind my back. “What the hell?”

Then my memory comes flooding back. Being at the clubhouse, helping Lisa cook, the party, then nothing but pure chaos. Men showing up and shooting at us. Seeing my sister trying to fight off two men as they begin shoving her into a van.

Oh god, this cannot be happening.

I sit up on the cold floor, ignoring the soreness in my body and the pounding in my head. I begin to frantically look around.

“Alba!” I don’t hear her answer, nothing but silence.

I’m almost positive I’m in a basement. Besides a few boxes, there’s nothing in the space surrounding me. I can hear footsteps and murmured voices above me. Okay, Bella, think. What the hell are you going to do? My phone! Please let it still be in my back pocket.

My hands being tied behind my back ends up working to my advantage, I have easy access to try and reach my phone. I strain and stretch as far as I can, reaching the tips of my fingers into my right back pocket.

YES!

I let my phone drop to the floor, and with a shaky hand, I reach down and swipe the screen. I start searching for Logan’s number. When I find it I press the call button, then lay my body down on the floor close to the phone so I can hear. It only rings once before I hear his voice.

“Bella!” Logan shouts into the phone, his voice full of anguish.

I can no longer hold back the tears prickling my eyes. What if this is the last time I hear his voice.

“Angel, please don’t cry, I need you to be strong. Can you tell me anything about where you and Alba are?”

“I’m in a basement...I think. I can hear footsteps above me. I’m pretty sure I’m in a house. They must have drugged me because I don’t remember how I got here. I just woke up, and my hands have been tied behind my back.”

“That’s good, Angel, you’re doing really good. I’m having Reid track your phone right now. Hold on for me baby, I’m coming for you guys. I promise.”

“Logan, Alba’s not with me, she’s not here. I don’t know what they did with her. You have to find her Logan, please,” I cry.

With a loud bang, the basement door opens and my heart stops. “Logan, someone’s coming. Oh god, what do I do? Please, Logan, tell me what to do.” I whisper and plead.

“FUCK, FUCK, FUCK!” I hear him chanting. “I’m coming for you Bella, I promise.”

I scramble to sit up, pushing my phone behind me so they won’t see it, but it’s too late.

“What the fuck you got there you little puta, bitch?” A man with an accent spits.

He’s wearing a cut that reads Los Demonios. Shit, that’s the club Logan and Jake have been talking about; the one Lee has been associating with.

“Fuck you!” I scream at the asshole.

Walking over to me, the man takes his booted foot and knocks me out of the way, exposing my phone lying on the floor behind me. He stomps on it, busting it into pieces.

Turning back towards the stairs, he yells out something in Spanish. Two more men come rushing down into the basement. All three of the men speak rapidly back and forth with each other, and I have no idea what they’re saying. One of the men strides towards me, pulling something from his cut. I hold my breath—the first thing coming to mind is a gun, but it’s not. The closer he gets to me, I see it’s a needle.

“Get away from me!” I yell while trying to scoot away from him, with nowhere to go.

Grabbing me by my hair, he gets in my face, telling me, “Shut the fuck up.” The stench of his breath making me want to gag.

Without warning, he sticks the needle in my neck. Seconds later darkness takes me.

* * *

I awaken again with another familiar headache. I blink a few times, willing my heavy eyes to open. I realize my hands are still tied —this time, above my head—and I’m lying on a bed, in what looks like a bedroom. To my left is a door, and to my right, a window that’s been boarded up. Directly in front of me is a small dresser with a small older TV that has a busted screen sitting on top of it.

The only positive thing in this whole situation is that I still have all my clothes on.

My thoughts turn to my sister. I start letting my imagination run wild on all the things these men might be doing to her. Closing my eyes, I take a few deep breaths to try and calm my nerves. This is not the time to be having a panic attack. I just pray that Logan finds us.

I’ve been lying here for what feels like forever. My arms are killing me and my hands are starting to go numb.

I haven’t heard any sounds coming from the other side of the door. I wonder if they left me here alone, should I scream for help? I quickly decided against it because I don’t want to do anything that will draw attention to myself.

A few minutes later I hear the click of the door and in walks a man. He is not one of the men from before, but he is wearing the same cut. I notice the VP patch as he gets closer to the bed. He’s only about five feet ten with long hair pulled back in a ponytail. He also has a large jagged scar running the length of his right cheek, but it’s his black soulless eyes that have a chill running down my spine.

“Where the hell is my sister?”

“You know it’s a shame my father has plans for you,” he says, completely ignoring my question.

He comes to a stop right next to me, and then slowly runs his finger down my arm, then down my chest between my breasts. My breathing picks up and I start tugging on my tied hands.

“Don’t fucking touch me,” I seethe while trying to keep the tremble out of my voice but fail.

“I want to know where my sister is.”

Leaning in close to my ear, he whispers “I can smell your fear.”

It’s all I can do to keep the bile from rising in my throat as he starts to work the buttons on my shirt. I open my mouth to scream, but we’re both cut off by the ringing of his phone.

“Mierda, Shit.” he hisses, digging his phone out of his pocket and putting it to his ear “Qué, What?” He barks out.

After listening to whoever is on the other end he hangs up. Turning his attention back to me, with seedy eyes that make my skin crawl, he says, “I’ll get my taste puta, bitch.”

The promise of his words have me shutting my eyes tightly, praying Logan finds me before he makes good on his word.

What feels like hours later, a different man walks in the room with a young girl trailing behind him carrying what looks like fast food bags, and my stomach instantly growls at the smell of fries. She can’t be any older than sixteen. She’s short, about my height with long, reddish-brown hair and honey colored eyes. Walking over she places the bags on the table beside the bed.

“I brought you something to eat,” she speaks so softly I can hardly hear her.

“I need to use the bathroom,” I tell her. I’ve been holding it for so long, and refuse to go on myself.

The man that came in with the young girl comes over and proceeds to uncuff my hands from the headboard. They immediately begin to burn and tingle from lack of blood flow.

“Don’t even think about being stupid. You try anything, and next time I’ll let you piss yourself.”

Walking me to the bathroom, the man stands in the doorway. I wait expectantly for him to at least turn around and give me a little privacy, but he only grins and appraises me from head to toe.

I try my best to act indifferent about the total lack of privacy. When I’ve finish my business, he walks me back over to the bed where the girl has begun taking food out of the bags. He sits in a chair on the other side of the room and ignores us for the most part, with his attention on his phone.

“What’s your name,” I ask the girl sitting in front of me.

She bites her lip for a minute like she’s unsure if she should talk to me. “Sofia,” she responds quietly.

“That’s a beautiful name, Sofia. My name’s Bella.”

I don’t miss the small smile on her face.

“Do you know where my sister is Sofia? Did they bring in another girl?”

She shakes her head no and her eyes dart over to the man in the chair making sure he can’t hear our exchange. I decide not to push her into talking anymore, she’s clearly scared.

While eating the food Sofia brought, I take notice of the bruises on her arms and neck. I have no doubt in my mind this poor girl is not here willingly. My heart is breaking for her. I make a vow when Logan finds me, I’ll do whatever I can to bring her with me. There is no way I could live with myself knowing what will happen to her if I leave her behind.

When I’m finished eating, the guy cuffs me back to the bed. My heart breaks the way he grabs Sofia by the arm and pulls her out of the room.

I’m again left alone. Eventually, my eyes grow heavy. I try hard not to fall asleep, but it’s been a long time since I’ve slept. I’m too afraid of what will happen if I don’t stay awake and alert. I lose the battle and sleep takes me under.

* * *

The click of the bedroom door startles me awake. I don’t know how long I’ve been asleep. The fact that there is no sunlight seeping through the crack of the boarded-up window lets me know it’s nighttime.

I only hope it’s not the VP coming back to finish what he started earlier. I sigh in relief when I see Sofia come in. She quietly shuts the door and pads across the bedroom with bare feet. Sitting on the bed next to me, “I want to help you get out of here,” she whispers.

“What do mean, do you have the key for the cuffs?” I ask, getting my hopes up.

“No, I’m sorry I don’t have a key,” she says, dashing my hopes. Sofia notices my defeated look. “I’m sorry, Bella,” she says sadly, hanging her head.

“Hey, it’s okay, none of this is your fault okay. I don’t want anything to happen to you for trying to help me, you shouldn’t be in here.”

“It’s okay, I want to help you. If you can give me a phone number, maybe I can call someone for you. Sometimes Antonio leaves his phone out on the table before falling asleep.

“Which one is Antonio,” I ask?

“He’s the man that came in with me before,” she tells me. “I think I can sneak it, and call someone for you.”

“Sofia, you can’t do something like that. I won’t let you risk your life for mine.”

“I’ll be careful, I promise. I’ll wait until he’s had too much to drink. Antonio doesn’t hear a thing after he passes out.”

I contemplate letting her do this for me. I would never want Sofia to put herself in danger, but her doing this might be my only hope.

“I’m going to give you a number, his name is Logan. All you need to do is tell him you’re helping me, and then give him the address.”

I give her Logan’s number then she stands, making her way to the door.

“Sofia,” I call out to her. She stops and turns back towards me.

“I won’t be leaving here without you, I promise. Logan, the man you’re going to call. He’ll come for me, and when he does, you’re coming too.”

Sofia nods her head, but I can tell by the sad smile on her face that she doesn’t believe me.

The next day goes pretty much the same with me mostly being left alone, except for the guy I now know as Antonio comes in a few times a day with Sofia bringing me food, and to uncuff me so I can use the bathroom.

I feel disgusting because it’s been a couple days since I’ve had a shower. Antonio watching me use the bathroom is bad enough. There is no way I’d want him watching me shower.

I’m thankful the guy that put his hands on me the first day, hasn’t been back. I asked Sofia earlier who he was and she told me his name is Jorge, the president’s son. She told me he’s been gone since yesterday and is not sure when he’ll be back. I can only hope he stays gone.

Sofia and I are sitting on the bed eating sandwiches when Antonio gets up from his chair and goes into the bathroom. She glances over her shoulder, making sure he can’t hear us.

“Antonio has been drinking all day, he’ll be passed out tonight for sure.”

I nod my head at her as he comes out of the bathroom, and we continue eating in silence. I hate that I can’t have a real conversation with this sweet girl. I’m desperate to know all about her and how she ended up here. The only thing I’ve been able to find out so far is that she’s seventeen. I wonder where she’s from? How long has she been here? Does she have a family that misses her? Why would she risk her life to help me and not herself?

I can’t imagine what she has gone through.

Knowing what these men are probably doing to her makes me want to kill every one of them myself.

After I’m done eating, Antonio is once again placing me back in the cuffs. He sneers at me when I give him my best ‘fuck you’ look. “Too bad your new owner wants you unmarked, I’d love nothing more than to wipe that look off your face and teach you some respect puta, bitch.”

My stomach drops at the mention of the words ‘new owner’. Refusing to let him see the effect his words have on me I lift my chin defiantly and seethe, “go to hell.”

Antonio swiftly punches me in my stomach, knocking the wind out of me and causing me to double over sideways in the bed bringing my knees up to my chest. It’s all I can do not to throw up the food I just ate.

“Lucky for me I know how not to leave marks,” He says into my ear, right before he grabs Sofia and leaves.
