Colton
I was disappointed not seeing Alexandra last night, but I know it was late. I should’ve called her before I left Daytona, but I wanted to surprise her.
I didn’t count being stuck in traffic for an hour due to an accident, so I don’t blame her for waiting to see me.
It took me a few hours to settle down before I fell asleep. I couldn’t quite shake the feeling that something was going on with Alexandra. It wasn’t anything she said, or her tone, really. It was just a feeling.
I don’t have time to see her this morning before I head downstairs. A customer is picking up his bike at eleven, so I need to make sure Vinny finished it.
Heading downstairs, I hear Vinny and Franny. Thank God they are talking and not having sex in my office again.
The second I open the door, Franny jumps, placing her hand over her heart. “Shit, you scared me, Colton.”
Christ, I can almost see her heart. The dress she has on is skimpier than anything I’ve seen her wear before. She’s pretty enough and I have a sense she’s even better-looking without all her makeup on.
“Sorry, sweetheart. Didn’t mean to startle you.”
“Murph, Franny has some info she heard at the clubhouse. Not sure what it means, but you should hear it,” Vinny says.
I pull up a stool at the counter for Franny. She glances over at Vinny, who gives her a nod.
She hops up on the stool as gracefully as she can, so she doesn’t flash me her bits.
“All right, Franny, what’s going on?”
“I was in the kitchen at the clubhouse. No one knew I was there because I woke up before anyone else. I was sitting at the table with my coffee when I overheard Dagger. He was talking to someone on the phone, not sure who. He mentioned your dad by name, and said he had to get the information to his contacts at the police department.”
“Dagger has contacts at the police department?” Vinny asks her.
“Of course he does. How else do you think he gets away with the shit he does?” I remark, shaking my head. “It’s got to be Miller and Anderson. Those fuckers have been after my ass for too long. But I don’t know how my case ties in with my father. Did you hear anything else?”
“No, he came into the kitchen and noticed me sitting there. He told whoever it was he’d call them back.” She pauses. “What do you want me to do, Colton?”
Vinny looks at me and shakes his head. I know he’s signaling to me to tell her to put the brakes on any more digging.
“Thank you for the information, Franny. Vinny and I’ll take it from here, sweetheart.”
“What are you two going to do?” she asks as she looks between the two of us.
“Not sure yet, Kitten, but don’t you worry about it,” Vinny tells her as he kisses her on the cheek.
She looks worried. And if I know women, she’s not going to stop digging. Just like I know Alexandra gave me lip service the other night when she said she’d tread lightly.
Maybe that’s one of the things I love about her. She’s sassy and determined.
Speaking of Goldie, I haven’t heard from her yet today.
“Colton.” Vinny snaps me out of my daydream. “Jimmy’s bike is all done, if you just want to check it out. I’m gonna head over to Cheeser’s for a few. Maybe see if there’s been any information on our missing eyewitness.”
I nod as they head out. Just as I hear the door close, my phone dings. It’s Goldie.
Alexandra: Morning, Beefcake. Heading into work. Are you going to be around at six tonight?
Me: Good morning, Goldie. I’ll be done here by then. What do you have in mind?
My dick twitches at the thought.
Alexandra: I thought maybe I’d cook us some dinner at my place.
Me: Sounds good. Should I bring anything? Dessert maybe?
Alexandra: Nope. I have that all taken care of. It may involve whipped cream :)
Oh yeah.
Me: My favorite kind. I’ll be there at six.
