The room was silent and stuffy with only a single soft glow at the center of the room like a dim spotlight marking where I should go.

But I was frozen, my feet stuck against the strange felt material of the carpet. Suddenly, a voice sounded from somewhere above me.

“Step forward.”

It was severe and distorted, coming from a speaker hung amongst the shadows.

The frequency of the voice hit me like a dagger to the spine and I obeyed, placing one foot in front of the other until I was standing at the center of the room, bathed in the light.

Where was everybody?

I looked around and was barely able to make out the faint refraction of the light against glass, and it was then that I realized the room was circular and lined with booths, bidding booths, the mirror glass shielding the buyers from me. I was in the center of them all, on display like a piece of meat.

“Remove your robe,” the voice spoke again. My heart was beating so hard I could hear it thumping in my ears, which were hot with panic. Somehow, not being able to see anyone made things even more terrifying, and I felt as though if I didn’t obey, something deadly would leap out of the shadows and hurt me. So I did what I was told.

I untied the robe and with a deep breath, let it fall from my shoulders to land at my feet. I was completely naked, and even though I couldn’t see them, I could feel the eyes on me.

Before I could react, something hissed beneath me and the floor began to turn slowly like a window display case, giving everyone a view of my every angle.

“This omega is untouched and has yet to have his first heat,” the voice announced. It was so distorted and morphed it was impossible to tell if the person speaking was male or female – or maybe just some computer trying to emulate real speech. “Certified pure and guaranteed. Bidding starts at fifty thousand.”

My skin was crawling and the stuffiness of the room had me sweating. I tried not to imagine the men in those booths examining me, but when I heard the soft sound of a beep behind me, I couldn’t help it – the bidding had started.

A red light glowed gently behind me, indicating the buyer had placed a bid.

“Fifty thousand,” the voice announced.

Another soft beep in front of me.

“Seventy thousand.”

Another beep.

“Eighty thousand.”

Eighty thousand dollars!? I thought. Who could afford this!?

Marcellus was rich beyond measure, but I couldn’t believe this was happening. There was no way to process any of this and all I could do was stand there as the bidding continued.

More beeps and red lights flashed as my price went up and up.

Finally, the voice announced, “Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars.”

Silence.

I waited, expecting the flashing of the bidding lights to continue, but there was nothing. Only darkness and the soft glow of the single light above my head.

“Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars is the current bid,” the voice repeated. “Any others?”

I could just imagine the smile on the man’s face who was about to own me. I was about to be sold off like livestock for the price of a house. My brain had pretty much shut down.

The light above me blinked off and on.

“Bidding is closed,” the voice said firmly. “The price is two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Congratulations.”

The floor stopped spinning and a door hissed open behind me. Before I could turn, I felt two sets of hands on me and a hood was placed over my head. The strong men pulled me from the room and out a door. As it was closing, I heard the voice begin again.

“Next item up, a beautiful omega from overseas…”

The door shut and I heard the sound of hurried steps approaching.

My new owner…

“Look at that body.” His voice was strong, dominant and cruel. I felt a hand on my chest, examining me, feeling my muscles. “Hard. Taut. Supple. Good genetics.”

“Yes, sir,” one of the men beside me said as they pulled me down the hallway.

“Yes, sir,” the man beside me replied, letting go of my arm for a moment.

What was about to happen!?

“Atta boy,” my owner said slowly. “Take a nice long sleep now. You’ve got a lot in store for you.”
