Julie

Julie had her door open and was halfway out of the car before her father had even come to a complete stop.

“You can go,” she said.

“Julie,” he said roughly.

“I mean it, dad,” she said. “I'm not coming back there tonight. I'll see you when you bring Jessie and the baby home. Take care of her. Don't let them give her shit.”

“I won't,” her dad said. “Those two are my girls too. Nobody will fuck with them. I don't like the idea of leaving you here.”

“He's here, dad,” Julie said, as she pointed over toward Cody's car. “I won't let him turn me away.”

“I believe you,” her dad replied. “That man cares about you, Julie. Don't let what Jason told him tear you two apart. I can see how much you like him too. I don't think I've ever seen you as happy as you have been since he showed up and poured his heart out earlier. Maybe he's not as bad as I thought he was.”

“Thank you, dad,” Julie said. “Thank you for giving him a chance, and thank you for bringing me here.”

“I love you, baby girl,” her dad said, with a smile. “Let me know that everything is okay. I have an ass to go and kick. Jason better hope that crew of yours stands behind him today.”

“I love you too,” Julie said, ready to close her door. “Don't be too hard on him. He's not used to women turning him down. I think he thought I'd be there, waiting around for him, forever.”

“You really like this guy,” her dad said.

“No, I love him,” she said, as she closed the door and headed for entry to the hotel.

Julie took a chance, walking to the elevator and pushing the button for the floor she'd stayed on with Cody the last time they were in town together. When the doors opened again, she walked to the same door that had been theirs, took a deep breath, and knocked.

When the door in front of Julie opened, she wasn't sure what to expect, but she knew that no matter what it was, she was going to fight for her relationship with Cody. There was no way she'd walk away, not ever again.

“Julie,” he said, as he looked out into the hallway. “How did you get here? I told you'd I'd be back in the morning.”

“I couldn't wait until morning,” she said. “My dad brought me.”

“Your dad?” he asked.

“Yes,” she answered. “He was totally on your side.”

“Really?” he asked. “On my side.”

“Yes,” she said, as she took a step toward him. “I'm so sorry, Cody. I'm sorry for asking about you and my sister. I'm sorry that Jason was an asshole. I'm sorry I walked away from you the night of your event without talking to you first. I'm sorry for everything.”

“He told you he loved you, Julie,” Cody said.

“He did,” Julie replied, as she took a step toward him, “but I told him I didn't love him back, not like that.”

“He said it used to be him you wanted. Is that true?” Cody asked.

“When I was sixteen, I had a crush on him, or at least I thought I did,” she answered honestly. “He was my best friend, and I didn't want him to leave. Those feelings are gone, Cody. They've been gone for years. He doesn't love me. He just doesn't like that I'm not sitting by the phone, waiting for his call. We're best friends, but that's all.”

“Do you want to come in?” Cody asked.

“No,” Julie answered.

“No,” he said, with shock in his tone.

“Get your stuff,” she said.

“I'm not going to your parents',” he said. “Not tonight.”

“That's not where we're going,” Julie said, as she walked by him and into his room.

He hadn't been there long, so his bag was still on the bed.

“Is this everything?” she asked. “What about your laptop?”

“I didn't bring it,” he answered.

“You didn't bring your laptop?” she asked, unsure that she'd heard him correctly.

“I didn't,” he answered.

“Wow!” she said, as she grabbed his bag and then walked by him again. “Let's go.”

“Julie,” he said, as he reached out to stop her. “It's Thanksgiving. You should be with your family.”

“You're the one I want to be with. Let's go home,” she said.

“Home?” he asked.

“Yes,” she answered. “Your home.”

Then she reached into his front pocket and pulled out his keys.

“You better hurry up,” she said, with a smile. “Your ride is leaving.”

“You wouldn't,” he said, as he narrowed his eyes at her.

“Watch me,” she said.

With his bag in one hand and his keys in the other, Julie turned away from him and headed for the elevator.

She watched Cody hurry back inside.

“You've got five minutes,” she yelled out, just as the elevator doors closed with her inside.

When the doors opened in the lobby and she stepped out, two strong arms wrapped around her, and she let out a loud squeal.

“Nice try,” Cody said, as he let her down and quickly snatched his keys from her hand. “Just for that, no driving for you.”

“Cody,” she whined, as she tried to get the keys back.

“You sure you don't want to stay?” he asked. “I've already paid for the room.”

“I'm sure,” she said, as a smile filled her face. “I want to be home with you.”

“Then that's where we'll be,” he said, as he headed for the front desk.

When Cody walked out of the hotel, Julie was standing next to his car.

“Are you sure I can't drive?” she asked.

Julie watched Cody walk to the passenger side door and open it. Then he motioned for her to get in. As soon as she was close enough to reach, he grabbed the bag from her hand and threw it into the car. Then he pulled her close and stepped forward until her back was against the cool metal.

“Holding on by a fucking thread, Julie. Been doing that shit since I first saw you this morning. Some of it out of anger, and some of it out of pure love. The thought of taking you back to my place has my cock so damn hard,” he said, as he thrust his hips forward, so she could feel for herself that he meant what he'd just said. “We're going home, to my place, as fast as possible, and the second we get there, I'm going to claim you as mine. “Get in,” he demanded.

With her body still plastered against the car, she slid over and dropped down onto the seat. Cody waited for her to pull her legs, that felt like jelly, in with her. Then he closed the door.

“Damn,” she whispered, as she rubbed her lips while watching him walk around the front of the car, hoping with everything in her that he'd get them home as fast as possible.

Neither of them spoke, as Cody weaved in and out of traffic, getting them there safely and in record time.

Julie paid attention to where they were as he pulled into the parking garage of a huge apartment building. He got out of the car, hurried around to her side, and opened her door. When she got out, he reached in quickly to grab their bags. Then he closed the door, grabbed her hand, and pulled her toward the elevator.

The second the door closed behind them, he hit the button for the top floor. Then he turned toward her, stepped forward, and slammed her back against the wall.

“Cody,” she whisper moaned, as he grabbed the back of her head and took her mouth hard with his.

When she heard the door open, Cody took a step back, took her hand in his, and walked out into a very short hallway. He turned to the right, stuck a key in the lock, and opened the door.

“After you,” he said, as he motioned for her to walk ahead of him.

Julie took the first few steps in before her feet froze in place.

“It's beautiful,” she said, as she took in the enormous place surrounding her. “Do you even use half of it?”

Cody let out a loud laugh, pulling her from the deep moment she was just diving into.

“Seriously,” she said. “My entire apartment could fit in your entryway, and we have three people living in it. You only have one.”

Cody laughed again, and she narrowed her eyes at him.

“I'm so embarrassed,” she said, as she turned away from him.

“What?” he asked. “Why?”

“You've spent so many hours at my place,” she said. “I can't even imagine the things you thought while you were there.”

“I thought about how smart you were, how sweet you were, how beautiful you were, and most of all how damn sexy you were,” he said, as he set their bags down and walked toward her. “There were days I wanted you so fucking bad that I could barely keep my shit together.”

“Cody,” Julie whispered, as he came closer.

“Julie,” he said, in the sexiest tone, as he took the final step toward her. “You can believe me when I say the last thing on my mind was the size of your place.”

The next thing Julie knew, Cody bent down, threw her over his shoulder, and took off through the dining area and down a hallway.

“Cody,” she squealed, as she slapped at his back. “Put me down.”

He walked by a few doors before kicking one open and moving into the room, throwing the door closed behind them. Before she could say anything else, she fell back onto a soft cloud, and he stood above her.

“I waited so damn long to finally have you,” he said, as he looked down at her like she was the only woman in the whole world and he'd been starved for years. “Then you were gone. It's been pure hell, Julie. If it weren't for Jessie, I would have gone mad. She told me it would work out, and I'm so damn glad she was right.”

Julie watched him grab her legs and pull her to the end of the bed. Then he leaned forward, undid the button and zipper on her pants, and wasted no time pulling the fabric down her legs.

“Can't wait to have you again,” he said, as he threw the material, along with her shoes, to the ground. “Not one more fucking second.”

“Unless you don't want to be here,” he said.

Julie snuggled in against his side, as she rested her head against his chest and wrapped her arm around him.

“This is the only place I want to be,” she said. “I've never felt anything like I do when I'm with you.”

“Neither have I,” he said.

“Cody,” Julie said, just as her eyes were closing. “We have to be more careful.”

“What do you mean?” he asked.

“That's the second time we've been together,” she said. “Neither of those times did you use a condom.”

“Shit!” he let out. “I've never been with anyone without protection before. After being with you like that, so raw and bare, I can't do it. I can't put a barrier between us. How do you feel about getting on the pill?”

“I'm okay with that,” she said, barely keeping her eyes open. “Can you use condoms until then?”

“If that's what you want,” he said.

“Isn't that what you want?” she asked. “You're working so hard to grow your company. I'm sure having a baby isn't on your list of things to do right now. Not to mention the fact that we've only been together twice and haven't even made it a full day as a couple yet.”

Julie felt Cody's hold on her tighten, as he kissed the top of her head. Being in his arms felt so safe and comfortable, and she drifted off to sleep faster than she had in a long time.

When she heard his voice, it sounded so distant, and she knew she was dreaming.

“You're mine,” he said. “I wasn't joking, baby. I'm going to marry you one day.”

If only dreams really did come true, she thought, that would definitely be the one she'd choose.
