Elapse (The Expiration Duet Book 1) by Lou-Ella Fields (28)

The sound of a lawnmower starting close by has me picking up a now freshly diapered Rose from the changing table and walking to the window. Not seeing anything, I shrug and walk out to the kitchen, propping Rose up in one arm and using my other hand to prepare her bottle. Mentally making a note to ask Mil to watch her for me sometime this week when she’s free so I can get to my own lawn that’s starting to resemble a jungle. I give the bottle a shake, popping the top off into the sink before turning to make my way to the living room.

What the … ?

I start backing up at what I just glimpsed through the window. On second thought, I don’t think I’ll have to worry about the lawn for a little while since a shirtless Seb is currently pushing and pulling my mower across the grass in the front yard. I gulp, watching his arms flex, the muscles moving under the gray and black swirls of his tattooed arms.

Holy shit.

Rose starts fussing when she clues into what I’m holding in my hand. I lay her back in my arm and shift the bottle to her mouth. Once she’s sucking away, my eyes are pulled back to the window with magnetic force. My breath hitches in my throat as he bends down to empty the catcher, giving me a glimpse of that smooth back. More muscles bunch as he stands and takes it to the garden trashcan. Turning around to put it back in place, he looks up, and I quickly scoot to the side. Shit. I think I’m busted. I shrug; he’s mine to ogle now anyway. The thought puts a goofy smile on my face as I walk into the living room. Happy birthday to me. I don’t think a girl can ask for much more than that. Okay, so I’m going to want me some more of that later, but still. Who would’ve thought that mowing the lawn could look so sexy? When I do it, I’m a sweaty, frustrated mess.

I flip through the TV channels as Rose polishes off the rest of her bottle then give her a good burping that has some of the contents leaving her stomach and ending up on my shoulder and chest. Bleh. I wipe her face with the cloth then pop her into her swing and set it to rock gently as she stares up at the mobile hanging above her head.

The front door opens just as I’m wiping baby puke from my shoulder and the top of my dress. I look up mid wipe to find a slightly sweaty Seb kicking off his boots and coming into the kitchen, nabbing a glass to fill it up at the tap and gulping it down in three pulls. I just stand there, frozen and eye fucking the shit out of his glistening body. I watch, still in a daze as he walks over to me, removes his glasses, and puts them on the table before pulling me to his damp chest and grinning down at me. “Need a hand, birthday girl?” Uh, before I can even answer, he’s kissing the shit out of me. I finally snap into action, threading my hands into his luscious hair and trying to climb his tall, lean, and totally amazing body. He laughs into my mouth.

“Whoa, I’m covered in sweat and probably grass clippings.”

“I don’t care,” I breathe. Then I remember something. “Hang on, how’d you know it was my birthday?”

“How do you think?” He raises a brow before pecking my lips. “Happy birthday, beautiful.” Then he’s moving into the living room where we can hear a babbling Rose.

Millie. I’ll have to remember to thank her. I follow and find him bent over Rose, her smiling face and kicking legs giving away her excitement about seeing his face. I can totally relate. He worked the evening shift last night, so we didn’t get a chance to see each other.

“I can’t pick you up, sweet girl. I’ll come in and see you after I finish out the back and take a shower.”

He stands. “Back soon.” He kisses me once more, pulling at my lips with his before backing away. Sighing, I turn to a now cranky Rose, whose bottom lip is pouting like it does right before she loses her shit. “I know, baby girl. I know.” I bend down and scoop her up. We hang out on the rug for a bit of tummy time, which she gets over pretty quickly, so I let her lay on my chest as I make faces at her.

“Only you could still look attractive while making messed-up faces, biatch.” I turn my head back a bit to see Millie striding into the room. “Give me my little princess. Auntie Mil needs her cuddles.” She takes her from me and gazes down at her. “Jesus Christ, Liv. I swear she’s growing by the week.”

“I know. I wish she’d slow it down a little.” I fake pout. It’s gone so fast. She’s almost three months old.

“Speaking of slowing down, I swear I saw Seb mowing your lawn, literally, over the back gate.” She quirks a brow and snickers.

I laugh. “Yeah. Not going so slow anymore.”

“Ooohhh, do tell.” She waggles her brows and smiles excitedly.

I sit up. “Not until you dish on Beau. Have you seen him since?”

She scowls. “No and no. Now tell me. Did you release the brakes?”

“I wasn’t the one who put them on in the first place.” I sigh, may as well fess up. She’ll keep at it until I do. “But yes, no more brakes.”

“Oh, my God.” She looks down at Rose. “Your mommy has been holding out on me, the dirty skank.”

“Language in front of the babe, Millicent,” I jokingly scold

“Yeah, yeah. I’ll stop when she starts talking. Back in a sec.” She leaves the room, returning with a gift bag and placing it on the coffee table in front of me.

“What’s this? You didn’t have to get me anything.”

“Oh, zip your lips and open it already,” she says with an eager smile on her face. I open the bag and pull out a box of my favorite chocolates, some of my favorite Perfect Peach lip gloss, and a wrapped package. I pull away the bubble wrap and unveil a photo of Seb and Rose. A picture I didn’t know she’d taken but has tears filling my eyes all the same. He’s holding her to his chest; her squishy, sleeping newborn face turned to the side in full view of the camera with his lips kissing the top of her head. My hand flies to my mouth in an effort to keep my emotions under control. Millie takes a seat beside me on the floor with Rose in her lap.

“You really love him, huh?” she asks

I just nod. Not quite trusting myself to speak, I reach over and wrap my arm around her in a half hug. “Thank you,” I whisper.

“You deserve all the happiness. Happy birthday, Mama.” She kisses the side of my head.

Hearing a familiar throat clearing, we both pull away and look up, finding Seb smiling sheepishly at the entrance to the living area.

He watches as I wipe underneath my eyes and then turn the framed picture around to face him.

He scowls at Millie. “I didn’t know you were a serial photographer, too.”

“All part of my job description as auntie, I’m afraid.” She puffs her chest out with a pleased look on her face.

I laugh at her, turning when I hear Seb calling over his retreating shoulder, “Taking a shower.”

Millie nudges me. “Go,” she hisses.

“What? Go where?”

“Thank him the right way, if ya know what I mean.” She winks.

I shove her shoulder lightly. “You have the dirtiest mind, woman.” But she’s right. I need to thank him for taking care of the lawn for me. I rise and point at her. “Don’t even. I’m just going to thank him, with my mouth.” I slap a hand to my head as her head falls back in laughter. “I mean with my words, ho bag.” I huff and turn for the hallway, knocking on the en suite bathroom door in my room. I can still hear Millie’s howls of laughter coming from the living room.

“Liv?” My name echoes back at me

“It’s me,” I confirm and crack open the door.

He’s already in the shower, the bathroom starting to fill with steam. I shut the door and walk in, hopping up to sit on the vanity and watching his blurred body move around behind the shower door for a few minutes. Then he’s reaching for a towel and turning the water off. I bite my lip as he steps out, tying the towel around his waist as he stops in front me. I open my legs for him to move between them.

“You have a habit of hearing me confess my feelings for you to other people.” I smile up at him. His lashes are still damp as he scrubs a hand over his mouth, revealing a grin as he pulls it away.

“Not sorry.” He shrugs before bending and softly brushing his lips across mine. His tongue skims along my top lip, seeking entry. I happily give it to him as it sweeps inside to softly, slowly touch mine. My breathing picks up as the familiar ache between my thighs starts to burn. “I want you,” I breathe into his mouth before sucking on his tongue. I wrap my legs around his waist, feeling the towel fall away as I do.

“Shit, Liv. I wasn’t exactly planning on this.”

“Me either until I saw you mowing my lawn for me. Lock the door.”

“Millie has Rose?” He reaches over and flicks the lock after I nod.

I move forward to the edge of the vanity, my dress lifting to bunch around my waist. He groans when his hard length comes into contact with my damp panties. I grab his ass and look up at his hooded eyes as I start rubbing myself on him. “I don’t have a condom, Liv.” His breathing gets heavier. “There are some in my truck.”

“It’s okay; we can do other things,” I suggest as I lick a few drops of water from his broad, hard chest. He growls, pulling down the straps of my dress and bra. Shoving his hands into the cups to grab both my breasts roughly, he rubs his thumbs over my hard nipples as his mouth crashes to mine, biting, licking, and groaning. I reach down to wrap my hand around his rock-hard length. Gently squeezing, I take a bit of pre-cum from the tip, rub it into my hand, and start stroking.

He groans. “Fuck, I’m going to come if you keep that up.”

“That’s the plan.” I nip his jaw.

“Not without you, birthday girl,” A hand leaves my breast to move my panties to the side. His finger parts me before slowly trailing up and down through my wetness. I let out a moan, hoping to God Millie doesn’t hear me. She’s going to give me so much shit if she does.

“Please,” I beg.

“Please what?” he whispers against the side of my face.

“Make me come.”

“All you had to do was ask.” He snickers before his thick digit slides into my entrance, his thumb flicking my clit in a way that has me struggling to maintain my rhythm while pumping his cock.

“Lips,” he whispers hoarsely.

Our tongues dance in sync to my pumping hand and his finger. When he adds a second, I’m a goner. My head flies back as pure bliss overtakes my body, leaving me a trembling mess. Seb pulls me back to his mouth in an effort to smother my cries. I pull away after a minute, feeling sated, but knowing I still have a job to do.

I push him back and hop down from the vanity, dropping straight to my knees to take him in my mouth.

“Shit.” His hands grip my hair, gently guiding my mouth up and down his cock as far as I can go.

“Gonna come, Liv,” he warns.

I keep going and knead his balls. Not even thirty seconds later, he’s coming down my throat as he groans, low and deep. A sound that has me feeling heated all over again. I pull away, licking my lips as he leans against the shower door, his chest heaving up and down, hooded eyes watching me as I adjust my bra and dress.

“Thank you, Sebastian.” I smirk before getting up and leaving the room.
