For You I Fall: Angels & Misfits Book 1 by T.N. Nova, Colette Davison (26)

Chapter Twenty-Six

Dante

Irritated didn’t even cover what Dante was feeling toward Killian. He wasn’t mad at the fucker. Dante was royally pissed off at the other angel. He never fully understood the saying ‘seeing red’ because of anger. That was until this very moment while standing on the angelic plane with Killian.

Sure, Killian exasperated Dante in the past; he’d often been frustrated with the blond angel before. Those times in the past, even when he was angry at the way Killian treated Seth, hadn’t compared to the rage Dante was experiencing right now. Regardless of how much energy he had expelled in the recent events, fierce emotions coursed through and fueled Dante.

“How dare you come in pulling that shit!” Dante barked out. He crossed his arms over his chest. His furious glare pinned Killian.

“If looks could kill, I’d be dead right now.” The other angel rolled his eyes sardonically.

“I’m serious, you fucking ass!” Dante’s rage was evident in his voice.

“Come on Dante, you know I’d be a better lover for you than that human—ghost, whatever—could be.” Killian’s lips curled up in disgust when he spoke about Seth. He arrogantly sashayed toward Dante, reaching out with an intent to stroke the angel’s chest.

Dante’s hand wrapped around Killian’s wrist, stopping its movement. “You ever fucking touch me again, I’ll break your damn wrist,” he growled. With a quick movement, Dante twisted Killian’s hand until the angel yelped in pain. Letting go of the other angel, Dante scowled.

Killian cradled his wrist. “Mmm. You’re liking it rough? Doubtful Seth will enjoy it,” he smirked. “But I do. We both know I can take it too.”

“Shut up, Killian. I’m not interested in anything you have to offer me. Get it through the swelled head of yours. I. Do. Not. Want. You.” He punctuated each word making sure they were articulated well. “Did I make myself clear?”

“You do understand that this is going against everything you are, Dante? This isn’t you.” Killian breathed slowly. He rotated his hand and wrist then shifted his weight to one leg. “How could you let him fuck you? You don’t let anyone top you. Not even me,” Killian pouted.

Curling his hand into a fist, Dante took a swing at Killian, knocking him in the jaw and causing him to stumble backward. “I said, enough!” he snarled. “My sex life is none of your concern,” he growled.

Dante had never hit another person—supernatural or mortal—in his entire existence. Unfortunately, the prodding that Killian kept delivering caused Dante to react in a way that he typically wouldn’t. He was ashamed of himself for letting it get so far out of hand. The only thing that could have made him feel worse was not having pulled his punch. If he hadn’t, then Killian would have been on the ground instead of looking at him in shock while nursing his jaw.

“It is when we used to have sex together,” Killian cocked an eyebrow. “Or when you start acting like this.” He mimicked the right hook that landed on his face. “If that’s not enough, you’re an angel. It’s my business if you end up getting kicked out of the angelic plane.”

Dante was aware of the chance he’d end up a fallen angel. It was because of this that he had hidden his feelings for Seth so long. When Seth died, Dante couldn’t bury them any longer. He hadn’t wanted to either.

“Not that it’s any of your concern what happens to me,” Dante shot Killian a pointed look, “but if it gets you to shut the fuck up, I happen to love Seth.”

A smile pulled up the corners of Dante’s lips at the thought of the handsome young male who was back on earth. The same smile brightened further when his thoughts wandered toward what they had been doing in the boathouse. “Correction. I don’t just love Seth. I’m in love with him.”

“You’re supposed to be with me,” Killian snarled.

“And you’re being a jealous, arrogant fucker. Knock it off Killian. It’s unbecoming,” Dante sighed quietly. “There never was anything between us—ever—other than sex. You knew this. We’d discussed it before we ever did anything.”

Killian remained quiet. He looked disheartened but nodded. “I know.” His eyes lowered for a few moments then glanced up to catch then hold Dante’s gaze. “Is that why you let him top you?”

“Yes, but you already knew that,” Dante smiled. “I would never let anyone else top me. There had to be that deep connection between the other person and me for that to happen.”

“So is he going to always be the top?” Killian arched a brow questioningly.

“Don’t get your hopes up. I’m not going to need you to be a bottom. Seth is quite the amazing bottom just as he was wonderful at topping. We’ll share the roles.” Even though it was true, Dante couldn’t help reinforcing the fact that he didn’t want Killian; that his heart belonged to Seth.

“Okay. You don’t have to repeat yourself; I get it. You’re in love with the kid,” Killian pouted. “Does this mean you’re Angelman and Ghostboy?” He smirked

“He is not a kid, Killian. Trust me; he’s all man.” Dante smirked back.

“Whatever,” Killian huffed. “To make sure you are fully aware, Dante, if the council finds out about this, you will get kicked out of the angelic plane. There are strict rules about angels falling in love, and they’re worse if it’s with a human. Add the fact that Seth was your charge?” He whistled low.” If they find out, things are going to be bad for you.”

“Now you’re repeating yourself.” Dante glared at him. “I don’t need to be reminded of the rules and regulations, Killian. I am the one who taught them to you.”

“Okay. Just wanted to make sure you were thinking with your big head and not your little one.” Kilian shrugged. His shoulders slumped as though he were defeated. Maybe it was more that he was resigned to the fact that he had lost Dante. “So how are you going to work this transcending thing?” he asked.

“Seth and I will figure that out together,” Dante said with conviction. “With or without your help, he knows what he has to do. You said so yourself,” he smirked.

“Go rest, Dante. You’re looking pretty pale there.” Killian clipped the conversation off quickly then turned to walk away. The act was something he had always done when he wanted to avoid talking about something. Dante had watched the other angel do the same thing often enough that he knew what it meant.

“You’re such an ass!” he called to Killian.

Dante turned to walk in the opposite direction. A smile grew that nearly reached his eyes. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t have done for Seth—or to be with him. Even if that meant falling from the ethereal plane.

Regardless of what was to happen in the future—whether he became a fallen angel or not—Dante needed to talk to Seth about the possibility. He didn’t want to scare Seth off from trying to ascend. Seth was so kind-hearted. He was constantly trying to do the right thing for others instead of worrying about himself. Just one of the many things Dante loved about him.

At the same time, Dante couldn’t not tell him either. Seth had trust issues, and Dante keeping this from him could potentially cause Seth to mistrust him. Not that he would want to keep anything from Seth. Just like there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for Seth; Dante wouldn’t keep anything hidden from him. He believed there should be absolute open and honest communication between them. It was going to be a hard conversation to have, but he would soothe all of Seth’s worries and fears the best he could. They were a team now—a couple—each loving the other endlessly. They would face whatever came their way. Together.

Finding a quiet place where no one would disturb him, Dante settled down. He envisioned himself sitting on the soft green grass beside the remote lake he and Seth visited. Only this time, the summer sun was high in the sky. Dante could almost feel the warmth on his face.

He was supposed to be re-charging, but the images he was invoking brought back what the two of them had shared earlier. His cock stirred—aching behind the confines of his pants. Dante laughed lightly. Seth’s words about coming back to earth recharged to fuck him again had him grinning wickedly. That was precisely what he planned on doing. What made the entire aspect amusing was the look on Killian’s face. Dante was proud of Seth. Well, he was anyway, but to watch him stand up to Killian had swelled Dante’s heart and soul with pride.

Extending his onyx wings behind him, he took a deep breath in through his nose then released it from his mouth. Finding his center, Dante let himself drift. Energy surrounded him. He imagined it to be colorful—calming blues and greens that matched his and Seth’s eyes.

As he sat soaking up the waves surrounding him, Dante knew it wouldn’t be long before he was back on earth with the man he loved—back where he belonged.
