The entire meeting with Dominic I spent half listening to him and half imagining what it would be like to make love to Mason. This was not a new fantasy for me, but one that might actually come true sometime soon, God willing. Never had I been so interested in being with a man in this way; as more than just a hook-up. There was just something about him…

We ended our business discussion in a satisfactory manner. I would proceed with my plan while Mason did some research and we would work together to amend our strategy along the way if need be.

“Alright, boys. Let’s seal the deal on this day with a scotch across the street, yes?” Whenever Dominic wanted to do something, he would always pretend to follow it up by asking for agreement as if anyone had a say in the matter. Not that I was upset about this plan. It meant I got to spend more time with Mason.

“Sounds good!” I exclaimed with perhaps a bit too much excitement in my voice.

“Sure.” Said Mason.

“Great! I’ll grab my coat and meet you at the elevators.” He turned to his secretary who was following him out of the room. “Julie, call my wife and tell her I’m having celebratory drinks with the boys.” He closed the door behind him, leaving me and Mason alone again.

I began to lean into him before he cut me off. “Look, Jordan. This isn’t exactly a good time for me to be exploring this.”

“What are you talking about?”

“To be perfectly blunt, I’m due to begin my heat in just a few days. I’ve decided to take advantage of Hamilton House for the next week until it passes.”

Hamilton House was one of the company perks offered to omega’s during their heat, if they didn’t have an alpha to care for them. It was a huge mansion, owned by the founder of the company, just outside of town which had been renovated about ten years ago to specifically accommodate omega’s during their heat. Each of the 25 rooms had a queen-sized bed, wifi, a kitchen with a fully stocked fridge and, of course, an array of sex toys.

“Mason. I would like to help you through this.” I said with all sincerity.

“You can’t. It will raise too many questions and I don’t want anyone knowing anything about…well…whatever this is. What IS this, anyway?”

“I don’t know. All I do know is that whenever you are close to me, my instincts kick in and all I want to do is protect you…hence why I was so taken aback when you called me out in the meeting.”

Shit. This was real. I didn’t allow myself to see it until this very moment. Was Mason my omega? I never thought it would happen to me. I thought I’d be an alpha bachelor my whole life. In fact, I was counting on it. But my instincts were so intense by this point that I could no longer deny it.

“Jordan. I…I just can’t. I was really hurt by my previous alpha and I’m just not ready to trust someone again.”

The thought of anyone hurting Mason made my blood boil. “What happened?”

“He wasn’t the one. I thought he was…but he wasn’t. He cheated on me.”

“That mother-fu…look, Mason. I won’t lie. I’ve been around. I’ve fucked a lot of guys. But, I promise you, if you wanted to be with me, I wouldn’t cheat on you. I couldn’t cheat on you. I…I’ve never felt this way before.”

Mason’s blue eyes gazed up at me adoringly. “I need to think. I just need to think,” he said. Just then, Dominic was at my door again.

“You assholes, I’ve been waiting at the elevator. Get your asses moving or you’re buying me a whole bottle of their finest Macallan.”

I very rapidly grabbed my coat and headed out the door.

“Jeez. You’re moving fast,” Mason said with a smirk.

“Yeah, and you better be too. I happen to know for a fact that the bar we’re going to has a $12,000 bottle of Macallan.” I winked at Mason and just like that we were both out the door.
