EPILOGUE
I kept stealing glances at Chase while we were at work. I almost dropped a bottle twice fucking around with him. When break time rolled around, he motioned for me to meet him in the break room and I couldn’t untie my apron fast enough. I looked around and saw Treasure engaged in a conversation with a customer so I locked the door behind us. I needed my fix.
I hopped up on the counter near the microwave and he settled between my thighs. No words needed to be spoken between us. We kissed urgently while his hands slid up my skirt.
My stomach dropped when he yanked my panties off. He must have needed his fix too. “Chase, we only have fifteen,” I whispered. He didn’t respond. Instead, he shoved my lacy panties into my mouth to shut me up then he pushed my legs all the way back until my feet hit the cabinets above the counter.

“Coming!” I shouted. Chase stood against the counter, running water into the sink while I stood in front of the door. When he nodded at me, I opened it to see a startled Treasure.
“What’s wrong? Fifteen minutes haven’t even passed yet,” I fussed. I wanted my dick.
“The cops are here,” she said, nearly breathless. “They want Hush.” Confusion narrowed my eyes.
“What? What for?” I pushed past Treasure and found three cops behind the bar. “What’s the problem?” I asked like I had the power to change everything. I didn’t even know what everything was but I would throw myself on top of them if it meant they couldn’t get to Chase.
“Are you Chase Wheeler?” The female officer asked, her voice strong and stern.
“No. What business do you have with him?” I could feel Chase’s frame swallow mine as he stood behind me, not making a peep.
“Chase Wheeler?” The officers converged on him, moving me out of the way.
“Yes?” He answered with a frown.
“You’re being arrested for probation violation.” It seemed his wrists were in cuffs in an instant. Time slowed to a broken heartbeat.
“What? He didn’t do anything!” I shrieked as I locked my arms around his neck.
“Lucy, stop,” he ordered quietly. “You’ll make it worse.”
“Fuck that, Chase…you didn’t do anything!” I squeaked, tears blurring my vision. Treasure pulled me back and whispered in my ear.
“The customer that assaulted you is pressing charges against him for breaking his jaw and his nose.”
“What!” I scrambled away from Treasure and ran after the officers carrying him out of the bar. I heard the clamor of customers behind me but they didn’t mean shit to me right then. All I could see was the love of my life being shoved violently along like he was a criminal.
“Move your fucking feet, boy!” One of the male officers shouted. He kicked Chase’s leg to urge him forward and I lost my shit when I saw him stumble.
“Don’t touch him!” I ran over to Chase and hugged him as tight as I could. I couldn’t even see because tears were rolling so quickly. My neck was slick with them.
“Ma’am, move.” I felt strong hand yanking me off of him while the squad car door was opened. The asshole cop shoved Chase’s head down, knocking it against the roof of the car. A gash opened on his forehead over his eyebrow and I screamed for them to stop. They didn’t have to treat him like that. He was complying.
“Chase!” I fought against whoever was holding me. By the time I broke free, they’d stuffed him in the back seat. He looked so uncomfortable with his knees crammed up to his chest.
“Lucy, it’s okay.”
“It’s not fucking okay! What am I supposed to do?”
“I’ll call you when I get booked.” I tried to give him a kiss but I was snatched back again. The car door slammed and I threw myself at it.
“I love you,” I cried.
“I love you too.” I heard his muffled voice through the thick window before the car pulled off.
My heart felt like it would shatter. I was so helpless. It felt like my world had been snatched in the blink of an eye and all I could do was wait.

Thank you for reading Lucy’s story. I know it was taboo and I know she’s a mess but that’s what made the story wild and fun. Lucy’s story begged to be told. It took over my brain until it spilled onto paper.
She’s not meant to be a sweet and perfect character. Her story wasn’t meant to be romantic. It was meant to be chaotic just like her.
Oh, and if you hate me for leaving the story with a cliffhanger, don’t. I’ll make it up to you with Lucy Two. It’ll be out in August.
