Chapter 1

Megan stretched her stiff and tired muscles as she slowly opened her eyes. She looked around the room as events from the night before came flooding back. She smiled a sleepy smile and looked over at Jensen who was lying next to her. His eyes were bright and they seemed to dance.

“Are you watching me sleep?” she asked.

“I can’t take my eyes off you.” His fingertips traced her face along her jaw line and up over her cheek. “I didn’t think I was ever going to get you back.”

“Keep wining and dining me like you did last night and I won’t be able to stay away,” she said sleepily.

“Good. I will cater to you from now on then.”

She stretched up to him and kissed his lips, hesitating before pulling away. When she did, he grabbed a hold of her and pulled himself up on top of her, crushing her with his body and surrounding her with his arms. His hands slid down each side of her and slid underneath her ass. He pulled her into him and buried his head into her neck.

“What are you doing?” she giggled.

“I am not going to let you out of my sight again.”

“You should probably reconsider that.”

“Why is that?” he asked, propping himself up on his elbows.

“I have to pee. I’m sure you don’t want to watch me do that.”

“I don’t know. I bet it would be sexy,” he growled, leaning in and playfully biting her neck. She squealed and tried pushing him off her.

“If you don’t let me go now, you’ll find out just how non-sexy it is because I will do it right here in your bed.”

He quickly rolled off her and put his hands up. “You win.”

She laughed and scooted her naked body out of his bed. He stared at her perfectly slender back and the way it contoured down into her heart shaped ass until she covered it with his shirt and disappeared into the bathroom. He propped himself up with his pillow, putting his arms behind his head and watched the bathroom door until she returned and sashayed back to his bed. She sat on the edge, pulling the covers up.

“Where did my clothes end up?”

“Honestly? I think they are on the roof.”

She gasped, “No they are not… are they?” She got up quickly and looked in that direction.

“Come here,” he said, jumping up and grabbing her arm. “We will worry about them later.” He scooped her up and pulled her back into his arms, throwing the covers over her and wrapping his body around her. They settled back into their perfect cocoon and she felt him sigh. “I could stay like this the rest of the day.”

“It feels good,” she said, completely content.

“Then let’s do it. Let’s fall off the grid and stay right here in this bed for the entire day.”

“I think we would starve.”

“What?” He sat up and looked at her. “You are worried about food?”

“Honestly, I’m starving.”

“I can’t believe it.”

“What do you say, I make us some bacon and eggs?”

“I say, that sounds amazing.” He lay back down and wrapped his arms around her again.

She gave it a few more moments as she relished the closeness they shared.

“I love you, Megan,” he whispered. “I always have.”

She closed her eyes, loving how she felt in his life. “I love you,” she said, dragging her fingernails lightly up and down his arm. “But, if you want breakfast with me before I go, then you have to let me loose.”

He started unraveling himself from her, reluctantly. Then he grabbed her and pulled her to him again. “Stay.”

“What?” she smiled. “No, I can’t. I have a ton….”

“No. I mean stay with me. Move back in.”

She pulled herself away from him and sat up, scooting off the bed again. She buttoned his shirt up and looked around for her panties. “I am not ready for that, Jensen. I want to take this slow. Things are still tricky for me. Just give me some time, okay?”

He nodded, reluctantly. He hated having to let her go again. He didn’t know what to expect or whether she would change her mind about him again. He rolled off the bed and picked up a small pile of clothes in the corner. “These are yours,” he said quietly, handing them to her.

“Thank you,” she said awkwardly. She set them on the bed and pulled her panties back on underneath his shirt.

He followed her out into the kitchen wearing his boxers and a clean t-shirt, sitting across from her and watched as she maneuvered around his kitchen.

“You look good in my life,” he said, a big smile on his face.

“Your apartment doesn’t look so good these days.” She picked up some old wrappers on the counter and tossed them into the trash.

“It can all be yours again if you want your job back. You know that.”

She didn’t say anything. She didn’t dare say anything more for fear of saying too much. She was still unsure about certain things and needed to ease back into his life. She still recalled the warnings Tristan gave her about Jensen and even though Jensen was telling the truth about Kristina, she didn’t want to jump back in until she was sure everything about Jensen was okay. She pulled the eggs and bacon from his refrigerator, noticing some strawberries and blueberries as well. She grabbed them and made a good breakfast, cleaning his kitchen as she did.

They sat at the small table in the dining room and Jensen watched Megan almost devour what was in front of her as if she hadn’t eaten in days.

“Wow,” he said.

“What?”

“Maybe I should fuck you more often. Seems as though it gives you a hell of an appetite.”

“Funny,” she said with a mouthful of strawberry.

“All I am saying is that it is nice to see you eating well. I was worried about you.”

This time, it was Jensen who wasn’t eating much. He pushed a blueberry into the side of his egg and watched it spring back as he nibbled on a slice of bacon. She could tell he was bothered by something.

“What is it?” she asked.

He hesitated before saying anything, wondering how to bring it up delicately and without sounding too demanding. He didn’t want to lose her again.

“I want to know where you work,” he blurted out.

Megan froze, her fork half way to her mouth with a slice of egg on the end. She proceeded to put it into her mouth and take a drink of her juice before saying anything.

“That night in Paris,” he continued. “You said you were working. Later, when I saw you with Tristan….”

She put her fork down on her plate and folded her hands in her lap.

“Was that a business trip or were you there with him because he asked you to be?”

She nodded and looked up at him. “I am working at Crawford Advertising.”

She saw the muscles in his cheeks flex as he clenched his jaw together when she confirmed what he feared was right.

“You work for him.” He said in a statement more than a question.

“Yes.” She didn’t want to tell him she was is personal assistant. “I needed a job. He was nice enough to offer me one that was available in his company. What would you have done?”

He looked at her with a raised eyebrow.

“Don’t answer that,” she said putting her hand up. “It’s just a job.”

“I don’t like it.”

“I know but it’s fine, really. He is my boss. That is all.”

“You don’t know him like I do, Megan.”

“He has never tried anything.” She opted out of telling him that Tristan did ask her out, but she politely lied her way out of it so she didn’t seem it was necessary to bring up.

“Come work for me again. I will double your salary and make it worth your while.”

“No, Jensen. I think the space between us will do us good, make us stronger. Besides, I like my job. I get paid well and the benefits are nice too.”

The worry on his face deepened. She got up after grabbing another strawberry and walked around the table, leaning down and kissing the top of his head.

“Stop worrying. I will be fine. He is just my boss. That is all. I am going to go. Will you give me a ride?”

“You know I will. You don’t have to ask me.” He didn’t sound like he wanted to, but she knew he was still bothered by her choice to stay at Crawford.

She gathered her things and they got dressed after cleaning up their breakfast dishes and he escorted her to his car.

The drive was quiet. He held her hand and rubbed her finger with his thumb. When he pulled up in front of her apartment, he didn’t let go of her hand.

She looked over at him. “Don’t look so sad,” she told him. “I will be fine. I promise.” She leaned over and kissed him, enjoying his hesitation of not wanting to pull away from her.

“I have to go and take care of some things, but I will stop by later to see you.”

“I can’t wait,” she said smiling. “I’ll cook for you again. Dinner? You can meet Lorena.”

“Your roommate, right?”

“Yes. You will love her.”

“Sounds great. I will see you around six.”

“Bye.” She got out and walked to the front door, turning around and waving to him before disappearing inside. He didn’t pull away from the curb until her door was closed.

Megan danced down the hallway to her apartment and unlocked the door. She went inside just as a good looking twenty something year old dark haired man was walking across the living room toward the door. He smiled, nodded at her and left.

“Lorena?” she yelled still looking at the door until it closed.

“Yes?” she asked all bubbly as she came out of her bedroom bouncing around the apartment. The only things she wore was a short kimono robe and her panties.

“Lorena?” she repeated with more surprise. “You sly dog.”

Lorena bounced through the living room and into the kitchen. “Want some coffee?”

“I already had breakfast.”

“I bet you did,” Lorena said, putting her elbows on the counter.

“And what is that supposed to mean?” She pretended to be offended at Lorena’s accusations.

“It means that I am not the only one who got lucky am I?” She cocked her head and smiled.

Megan couldn’t help but to laugh. She dropped her purse on the couch and joined her in the kitchen to swap sex stories.

“So, tell me about the mystery hunk who just left.”

“Oh, it’s just someone I work with. We were having a little fun. You need to tell me everything. In detail. Don’t leave anything out. Especially the hot and heavy scenes.”

“You are bad!”

“I know. Tell me, tell me, tell me.”

“We had dinner on the rooftop of his penthouse.”

Lorena gasped. “He took you back to his place? Oh, he is gooooood.”

“You have no idea,” she said, biting her lower lip.

“More, more….”

“He had this amazing dinner made for us with wine and lights, soft music. It was so perfect, so romantic. He said he had a surprise for me.”

“He got you a gift?”

“No. It was so much more than that,” she said looking down. “Remember when I told you I thought I was the other woman in his life? That I was the mistress and he was engaged so Kristina?”

Lorena nodded, her eyes glued to every word Megan was giving her.

“He tried telling me the woman was psycho and he dumped her before he even met me. I never believed him until last night. He showed me proof that she was everything he said she was. That she was stalking him and harassing him. Videos, emails, threats, all of it.”

“Oh my.”

“Yeah, I felt like such an imbecile after that. He tried to tell me. I wouldn’t listen.”

“You had every right to be apprehensive, especially because of everything Tristan told you.”

“Yeah, that was what I was going on.”

“And now?”

“Now, I don’t know. I mean, every time Jensen is with me, he is so sincere and so true blue. I always found it so hard to believe he could be so horrible.”

“So, why the warnings from Tristan then?”

“I don’t know. Maybe Jensen is really good at making the ladies feel a certain way. I am just going to take things slow and see what happens.”

“So, back to last night.”

“Well,” Megan said, shying away, her cheeks turning a light pink. “He….” She bit her lip again.

“He what?” Lorena squealed.

“We were having our dinner up on the roof top and things got so intense after that. He walked over to me and…” she took a breath. “God, the intensity between us….”

“What happened?”

“He went down on me.” She almost whispered it.

“He did not!”

“I have never felt like I do when I am with him. He is such a man and the way he looks at me makes me….”

“Want to latch on and never let go?”

“Yes.”

“So, did you make love on the roof?”

“No, but we did stay up most of the night making love in his bed, on the couch, on the kitchen floor and in the shower.” They both giggled.

“Damn girl! You better not let this one go again.”

“Do you want to meet him?”

“Really?” Her eyes lit up.

“I invited him over for dinner.”

“Oh, I can’t wait. If he is even a smidgen of what you say he is, I will love him.”

“Well, don’t get too crazy for him. He’s mine.” She smiled and put her fists up at her.

“Do you love him?” Lorena’s question threw her off. She never tried to answer that sort of question before. She nodded and looked at Lorena.

“I do, but there are still some problems I need to work out.”

“Like what?”

“Kristina.” Her eyes narrowed.
