Chapter Thirteen
Harley
He’s stomping around the front of the truck with a determined look on his face and all I want to do is lock the door and drive away. In fact, the only thing keeping me from doing all of that is because this is his grandfather’s truck and there’s no way I can repay him for what he just did for me... not to mention… he has the keys in his hand. Stealing this truck isn’t an option.
Slater slings the door open and holds his hand out for me as if he’s turned into some sort of gentleman all of a sudden… but the look in his eyes tells me the opposite.
“Get the fuck out of the truck Harley.”
“Why do we have to do this? We need to keep moving.” I hold my position and refuse to move from where I’m seated. A game of stubbornness is something I’ll challenge anyone to.
“I want to talk to you with nothing else as a distraction.”
“Then keep the truck moving down the road so we aren’t worried someone will catch us.” He reaches over my waist and removes the seatbelt before he strong arms me so that he’s carrying me over his shoulder with my arms and feet hitting him every chance I get. “Put me down.”
“Keep screaming. Let everyone within miles know where to come find you.” His warning silences me from my deafening attempts to make him put me down, but I don’t stop beating him even when he sets me flat on my own two feet. “Hit me one more time and I’m going to hold your fucking hands together above your head and have this conversation with you.”
“You can’t just physically move me when I’m not doing what you think I should be doing.”
“I just fucking did.”
“And I’m done with your shit Slater. Just get me the hell out of here so I can go to my safe-house and leave all of this behind me.”
“And run for the rest of your life?”
“I won’t be running. I’ll be safe there.”
“You’ll never be free from a man like your father unless he wants you to be. Not to mention the danger you’re in with the other clubs after you. Do you not understand how serious all this is?”
“I know how serious it is. I’ve paid the ultimate price because of how serious all of this is. But there comes a time when you have to take a jump and get yourself the hell away from everything that threatens the very breath you breathe.”
“We need to talk this out and come up with a plan that we both know… where we’ve both thought about all of the pieces to this fucked up situation. We can’t miss anything. If we do… it could be a fatal fucking mistake. Harley… why are you so dead set on defying me every fucking step of the god damn way.”
“Because I don’t answer to you Slater.” His eyes darken instantly and his deep exhale and silence to follow almost scares me. It’s the shift in his eyes that keeps me from running away from him. Not to mention, I’m in the middle of fucking nowhere right now and wouldn’t know which direction to head.
I know he won’t hurt me. He’s done nothing but try to help me escape from danger since the first moment I met him… but I’m just fucking tired of not having anyone to trust and having to have my guard up everywhere I go. I can’t let him get close to me because every relationship with me is extremely temporary.
He paces a few times before he’s gripping his hair in frustration. “No, you don’t answer to me. We’re working together on this.”
“It’s best if we just go our separate ways now.” He moves toward me, slowly walking until he’s pinning my back against the old rusted barn behind me. He presses his body against mine before he slides both of his hands right above my head, the muscles in his arms flexing as he moves.
He lowers his face until it’s almost lined up with mine. His height making him have to slightly bend at the knees to make it a reality. “That’s not fucking happening. So, get that shit out of your pretty little head right now.” His voice is low, deep with a seriousness that leaves no room for discussion.
“Why?” The second I open my mouth to respond to him… he covers it with his own, sending his tongue in to shut me up completely. His aggressive approach takes my breath away and makes it difficult to keep my hands at my sides. The urge to wrap my legs around him grows with every second of his kiss and it’s not until he pulls my bottom lip between his teeth that I give in and let my fingers roam over his body.
God… he feels amazing. The ripples along his shoulders and back shift as I scrape my way upward to gasp the single breath of air I need desperately. I don’t like how my body reacts to him… but there’s no way in hell I’m going to stop this.
He pushes his weight against me, pressing his hips into mine and reminding me what he has to offer with the large bulge in his pants. Adrenaline has taken over both of us the past few days and it’s done a number on my sexual frustration. Not to mention he’s phenomenal in bed and knows how to turn me on like no other man before him. I’d like to blame the gap in activity on my response to his touch… but I’d be fooling myself.
He pulls away… his tongue sliding over his lips, leaving me fighting the urge to lunge forward and take control. He leans his forehead against mine and takes a few breaths before he says a single word. “Why are you so fucking sexy?”
“You’re one to talk.” He lets out a small moan as my fingers slide up his back under his t-shirt. I watch him squirm with my touch and smile when his eyes slam shut from the heated sensations racing across his body. It’s the way he breathes. It’s the way he smells… the way he looks at me when we’re this close. And it’s the way he reaches straight through me, practically yanking out my heart with a simple smirk. He’s too much and if I let him, he’s going to suffocate me. I’ll drown in the feelings he stirs up with every passing moment.
“Maybe we should get further down the road before we let our guard down.” I decide to end the little rendezvous that’s only going to make things worse for me in the long run.
“Not on your life.” He slips the shirt off his back and reaches for the button on my jeans. I watch as he slides my pants down my legs and he takes my breath away when he rips his own zipper open just enough to free himself and lift me around his waist.
He pauses at my entrance, his restraint barely holding through the insanity swirling in the air around us. “Tell me you’re on the fucking pill.” He slams me down on his shaft the second I give a nod letting him know that I am.
They say you’ll feel a deep connection when you find the person you’re meant for. When his cock hits me so deep that it causes me to gasp… I wonder if this is the depths they’re talking about. Or is it the gravity of the pull in his eyes as he stares so deep into mine that I swear he’s ripping apart everything I know, exploding the pieces of myself I swore to keep protected from any man.
