Monday morning found Shane feeling giddy waking up next to Pattrick, feeling like a different woman. She woke up to see her roommate Jennifer walking around the room. Leaning over she placed a quick kiss on Pattrick’s lips before she started to get out of bed.

Shane, Jenniffer, and Pattrick all broke out in laughter. “Well, I guess now I kinda have to give him that number since he put a ring on it.” Shane said with a laugh.

“Mom was out with Caroline and the other wives, so we are doing dinner at Caroline’s tonight thanks to my mother having us on speaker phone.” Pattrick said on a sigh.

“Oh, yay!” Shane said nervously. “Okay let me call Laura. Wish me luck.” Shane said as she dialed Laura’s number.

“Riverton Sheriff’s Department, Detective Pratt speaking, how may I help you?” Laura said, answering her phone.

“Um hi Laura, it’s Shane. Are you busy?”

“Hey Shane, never too busy for you. What’s up sweetie?” Laura asked.

“Well, um, Pattrick and I are having a special get together at Caroline’s tonight around seven. Can you and Joe come? I know it’s last minute and all…” Shane rambled nervously.

“Shane, are you okay?” Laura asked worried.

“Yeah I’m great. You are family to me and I’d like you, Lindsey and whoever else from the team that can come to be there, at dinner tonight.” Shane said smiling through the phone.

“Okay kiddo. It’s not a problem. If we are going to be late then I’ll message you. Joe will be there with me, if he doesn’t get shipped out.” Laura said.

The rest of the day passed by in a whirlwind for Shane. She had a feeling a few more words more than normal were being whispered about her when Pattrick tipped her over with a heated kiss after she came out of her last class for the day.

Pattrick held her close as they walked to his room to grab some clothes for him to stay in Shane’s room for a few more days. Pattrick opened the door and walked in holding Shane’s hand.

“Oh look, it decided to grace us with his presence.” Cynthia sneered.

“Watch it!” Pattrick said escorting Shane to his side of the room then began gathering a few items of clothing.

“Where were you all weekend, roomie? Haven’t seen you around campus at all. Even this beautiful creature you brought with you, was missing from sight.” Robert said ogling Shane, giving her the creeps.

“Wasn’t aware that I had to give you my schedule since football season was over with. Been busy. Was there something you needed?” Pattrick asked a little coldly.

“No, was just worried about you. You’ve hardly been here since you’ve taken on the charity project and all.” Robert said laughing and shrugging.

“Did you just fucking call my wife a charity project?” Pattrick asked in anger at the same time that Shane gasped.

“Wife? What the fuck do you mean wife? What the hell did you do?” Cynthia shrieked loudly.

“Oh, ho ho ho, the Flash went and married the charity project. Didn’t think you’d have it in you roomie. I mean, I knew we bet you’d get bored fast when she wouldn’t put out and all, but damn.” Robert laughed.

Pattrick handed Shane his bag and stomped over to Robert, punching him hard in the face, knocking him back several feet onto his bed. Pattrick grabbed his bag a few other things and left the room with Shane.

When they got back to Shane’s room, she pulled him toward the bed and checked her small bathroom for the first aid kit. “Did you really have to punch him like that?” Shane asked cleaning up his knuckles from the small cut he got when he punched Robert.

“I’m sorry, Shane. He just pissed me off when he called you a charity case. You’re not a fucking charity case, and it pisses me off that people spout that shit. And it also pissed me off when he tried to insinuate there was a fucking bet. I don’t play that shit.” Pattrick said angrily.

“Hey,” Shane said as she straddled Pattrick’s lap. “Enough. We both know it’s just Cynthia and Robert’s jealous ramblings. I know I’m not your charity project. I know you love me as much as I love you.” Shane said before leaning forward to kiss Pattrick gently on the lips.
