Tank (The Bad Disciples MC Book 3) by Savannah Rylan (32)

Cort

Cort’s legs felt wobbly as he escorted Teegan out of the alley and the two of them started walking back towards the club. His mind was still racing with the amazing events of the past hour, but he felt overall peaceful. The stress that had been plaguing him all day was now alleviated. It was funny how mind blowing sex could do that to a person. It was just knowing that you could feel so good and that nothing bad could ever take that away from you.

Teegan was amazing. He hadn’t felt a connection, a real bond with anyone like this in so long. He wasn’t sure he’d ever known an attraction like this. No, it was beyond attraction and mere physical lust. It was a need. She was like a drug he’d taken a sample of and now he wasn’t sure how he could ever not have it again. It was a beautiful addiction. That was the best way he could describe it to himself.

But he wasn’t about to confess his feelings to her. As a man he’d been taught since he was a child to keep his feelings mostly bottled up and to deal with things on his own. That was what his culture taught all of their men and he’d always been naturally that way. Plus if he told her how he felt she might think him weak, or she might think him some kind of a crazy stalker.

It was best to be nonchalant for now he thought. But he did want to see her again. That was for sure.

“So, you say you are leaving town soon?” Cort asked.

Teegan smiled at him. “Yes, unfortunately.”

He held her hand just then, feeling the soft fingers in his, doing his best to not caress her even though he was dying to.

It was just too perfect and he did not want it to end.

“Well, let me get your number. Maybe if you are back this way again soon then we can go out. Maybe do something fun.”

“Oh, I think we just did something fun,” Teegan teased.

Cort felt himself blushing. That was a new one for him.

Teegan nudged his arm playfully and he held her close to him and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

“You are a brat, you know?” He joked.

“I do know. But that is one of my more endearing qualities,” Teegan replied.

“I’ll have to agree,” Cort replied. “But how about that phone number? Do you have a phone that works here?”

“I do actually,” Teegan said. She pulled a small flip phone out of her pocket.

“Wow, they still make these?” Cort joked.

“Yes. I got one just in case I needed a phone while I was here. I put just a few minutes on it for emergencies or something.”

“Well, if I want to chat, that is definitely an emergency,” Cort replied.

She pulled up her number on the settings of the phone and he copied it into his own phone.

“Great,” Cort said. “Where are you staying? I’ll walk you back.”

Teegan smiled. “That’s ok. You don’t have to.”

Cort was a bit taken aback but he played along. “Sure, I do. My mother raised me right. Plus I’m enjoying the walk. My legs are still shaking, but stretching the muscles out seems to be helping.”

Teegan laughed.

“I mean it,” she said. “I’ll be fine. You take care of yourself.”

Teegan kissed him quickly and then walked away turning the corner in front of the bar.

He thought about following her, but he decided to respect her wishes and let her go. As he walked back towards the bar where he’d left his friends a bit ago he couldn’t help but feel a bit… insulted? Was that the right word? He honestly wasn’t sure how he was feeling. He’d just met this perfect girl, they’d had the most mind blowing sex ever, and then she brushed him off, but she did that in the sexiest, most charming way ever.

Who was this girl? He realized he didn’t even get her last name.

But at least he had her number, right? If it was a real number. He thought about calling it to test it, but how desperate and weird would that have been. Cort had to laugh at himself. This was perhaps the most normal dating experience he’d ever really had. Most guys went through this—most people went through this actually—waiting to see if the person they liked really wanted them too and then playing the waiting game to see who was going to call or who was going to wait three days. All of the stuff he’d heard his friends and other people talk about.

As prince he’d never had to go through any of it. And he rather liked it that way. But this was an amusing experience. The frustration was weird because there was an element of mystery and excitement to it all.

He walked past the bar where he’d left his friends and texted his driver that he was ready to be picked up. He’d actually ridden with his friends to the club but he always kept a driver on standby just in case he decided to leave early, which he did sometimes. The demands of being prince were more than most people understood and sometimes he had to get adequate rest to recharge the batteries.

And sometimes he just liked to brood. He often enjoyed his bad mood days, as strange as that might have sounded to most people. He had a feeling the beautiful Teegan would have understood that though. She seemed to understand everything about him.

Of course if he ever did get really close to her she would know that he’d lied to her about who he really was. But in his position, she would have to understand. She would know why he did it. Wouldn’t she?

He hoped that he got to find out the answer to that question.

Oh, he had to see that girl again. He just had to.
