Chapter Fifteen

Paul

I’ve been sitting in the woods surrounding the property of the biker gang Savy has been staying with for days. The club members do patrols of the woods, so I’m always on the move, making sure to never leave a trace of my being here. I can’t let them catch me before I complete my plan. They already found out about Tyler, but they haven’t caught him yet. The little shit head hasn’t reached out to me either. He better not be on the run. If he is, I’ll just add him to my list of people to kill, right after Savannah.

Havoc is a ruthless gang that doesn’t care about the destruction they leave in their wake. I need to make sure I’m not next. I should have done this alone, but I couldn’t get close to Savy without help. So, I picked Tyler. I should have known better. He’s a spoiled rich son of a bitch that is used to getting anything he wants. Too bad he won’t be getting his way this time. I run my dirty hands through my dirty hair.

I’m going to kill Tyler as soon as I get the chance.

It’s midday, and the bikers are having a get together. I’m surprised to see so many children running and playing in the open field that sits adjacent to the backside of the brick building. I never imagined these animals would care for their children. I figured they would beat them and neglect them, but the children look happy. I’m surprised at the normality that I’m seeing.

I’ve been in the same position for two hours. I need to move before one of the biker trash comes by, so I move. That’s when I see her. I have my .300 Win Mag Sniper Rifle with me although this mission is reconnaissance only. I get my rifle ready with Savannah in my cross hairs, and I watch her turn and smile in my scope. She looks like my Mary. It almost takes my breath away, almost. Her wild curly hair is flying around her face, much like Mary. My breath stalls as she looks into the trees, looking straight at me. I know she cannot see me, but I feel like she has looked right through to my soul, my dark soul.

Savy turns around, a massive grin plastered across her face, and she wraps her arms around a girl almost the same height, and I lower my gun. They look exactly alike. Ena, my sweet Ena comes into view with her hair wild, just like her sister’s. It’s been over ten years since I last saw my baby girl. I aim my rifle again, ready to exact the revenge I swore, all I need to do is pull the trigger, but I can’t. Ena will see, and I promised Mary I would always take care of Ena. I lower my gun again, just as I hear someone approaching from my left. On silent legs, I move to a new location as a big biker with broad shoulders, patrols this section of the woods.

I will get her in time.

Savy

Several weeks have gone by with no word from Paul or Tyler. I’m pretty sure Tyler is dead, but whenever I ask Caleb, he only says, “Club business.” The shit is annoying. He’s keeping secrets about my father and my ex. I don’t push too much because I’m thankful Caleb took care of the problem for me. Today we are having a family picnic. So the danger must have passed. Caleb would never let children be around if there was something that could harm them.

All the brothers are bringing their families during the day and then the brothers are having a party tonight. Ena, Lexa and I are setting up a long table behind the building with food and drinks, mostly beer, but we have sodas and juice for the kids, too. The spread is pretty impressive. It’s more food than I’ve ever seen outside of a grocery store.

Lexa and I have gotten close over the past few weeks. She’s Axel’s little sister, he handles all of the tech for the club, and she’s grown up around the club life. From what she tells me, she and her brother had a rough childhood, and Axel started prospecting for the club when he turned eighteen years old. He was young, but did well and was patched in just over a year later. Since Axel and Lexa are twins, she has been around Havoc ever since.

I asked Lexa about her dating life, but she didn’t answer me. Her eyes got glassy, and she looked over at Wolf. I dropped the subject. I didn’t mean to upset her. There’s something between her and Wolf, but she hasn’t told me. You can’t exactly miss the way they look at each other or the way they fight, but I don’t press. I haven’t told her about my past either. Maybe one day we will both feel close enough to reveal a little more about ourselves, but we haven’t gotten there yet.

“Your friend is coming to the party tonight right?”

“Yep. Joss will be here later.” I’m excited to bring my only friend, other than Lexa, into my new life with Havoc and Caleb. I’ve talked to her a handful of times, but Caleb always limits the calls to just a few minutes, and I can only call her on one of the burner phones. He’s paranoid that Paul has my phone, or Joss’ phone tapped. He probably does, being a cop and all, but I get pissed every time. I shouldn’t have to change my life because Paul is a psycho. I did that for too long.

Across the lawn, I see Caleb, Skull, and Shadow talking together in a group. Soon after, Red and Hazel join them. Red, I later found out, is named Kris. She’s been pissed since I started dating Caleb. There are rumors that Caleb has been into me since the first night we saw each other at The Jungle. It’s romantic to think we had love at first sight. I know Caleb and Kris have a history, but it doesn’t matter, the past is the past.

Except, Diablo’s past looks me in the face every day.

“Here comes the whore,” Ena says casually.

“Ena.”

“What?” she asks with fake innocence. “She is a whore isn’t she?”

“Cool it, kid,” Caleb says. He strolls over to where we are standing.

“What?” she asks again. Batting her eyes at him trying to feign innocence.

“Those eyes won’t work on me, kid,” he chuckles. “Be good today, okay? No fighting.”

“Come on, Diablo,” she whines like a toddler.

“Ena, don’t make Savy worry about you today.”

“Fine, I won’t,” she says.

I don’t believe a word she’s saying. Ena may not start any trouble, but she sure as hell will finish it if it’s started.

“McKena Marina.”

“Geez! I said I wouldn’t. Calm down.”

Rolling my eyes, I turn my attention to the surrounding people. I’ve gotten to know several of the brothers and prospects over the last few weeks, and I like them all. They’ve taken Ena and me into their family. We are Havoc just like the rest of them. It’s the first real family we’ve had since my mom died.

The brothers are standing around in small groups shooting the shit, drinking beer and from what I overheard, Wolf is telling dirty jokes. Everyone is more relaxed than I’ve ever seen them. This is the side of Havoc MC outsiders never get see. They are just like anyone else. They are hardworking, want their family taken care of, and will do anything they can to protect their own. They also know how to kick back and relax, and from what I hear, they can throw a killer party, too. We will definitely see tonight.

“Yo’, Prez,” a prospect named Tiny says. His name doesn’t fit him at all. He’s six foot six inches tall and has a massive frame. He looks like a giant. He also hates his name, but there isn’t much a prospect can do about the road name he is bestowed.

“Yeah.”

“There’s a redhead at the gate asking for Savy.”

“It’s Joss,” I interrupt. Looking to Caleb, I see the look that’s exchanged between Tiny and Diablo. “What?”

“Uh, Prez. She is, uh,” he stumbles. “She’s–”

“Well spit it out already!” I shout.

Diablo turns his stormy, dark eyes to mine.

Shit.

I forgot. Women don’t talk to any member of Havoc that way, even prospects. They’re at the bottom of the totem pole, but they’re still Havoc, and they’re respected no matter what.

“I’m sorry, Tiny. I didn’t mean that,” I say. “Joss is my best friend. You can let her in.”

“Prez?” he asks. Turning his attention to Diablo, Tiny basically ignores what just I said.

“She’s cool, Tiny. Let her in. We’ll meet her in the front.”

Diablo pulls me with a little too much force around the side of the building. “You know better, Savy. We’ve talked about this. You can’t talk to my guys the same way you talk to me.”

“I know.”

“Don’t let it happen again,” he says.

“I won’t,” I grit out. I may not be able to talk to the brothers how I want, but Diablo is another story. I can talk to him openly. That includes calling him a big stupid biker when I need to. I mean it’s not like I called Tiny a name, I just told him to hurry up and say what needed to be said. I’ll make my point clear to Diablo once we are alone. Now is not the time.

At the front of the Compound, I see Joss exiting her BMW, but something isn’t right. Her eyes look funny, but she plasters on a fake smile. For my benefit, I assume. I’ll get to the bottom of it before the night is over.

Running to hug my friend, “Joss,” I say. I feel relief that my friend is here. “I’m so glad you’re here.”

“Me too,” she whispers.

“Joss,” Diablo says.

“Diablo,” Joss replies.

Wait! Do they know each other?

“Uh? Do you know each other?”

“Yes.”

“Kind of.”

They say at the same time.

“Well, which is it? Yes or kind of?” I ask. My forehead wrinkles with a mixture of confusion and irritation. Why hasn’t either of them said anything about knowing each other? Did they date? Have they slept together? How the hell do they know each other?

These questions assault me as I wait for their reply.

“We know each other, but not the way you’re thinking,” Joss says. Despite my best friend speaking, I’m looking at Diablo. I stare into his black eyes. They are clear, and I’m sure he’s not hiding a secret love affair with my best friend from me, but I need to know for sure.

“Well, which way then?”

“I uh, I used to hang around the club,” she says.

“What?”

“I was Wolf’s sweetie for a while.”

“What!?” I scream. I’m sure my eyes are bugging out of my head.

Joss was a sweetie.

Joss was a fucking sweetie!

“Don’t talk MC to me, Joss,” I say. I’m pissed, and I feel my anger rising. “I’ve been telling you about my life with Havoc since I’ve been here and you didn’t think once to tell me you were once Wolf’s girlfriend?” I scream.

By this time, Ena, Lexa and several brothers, including Wolf, have made their way to the front of the club.

“Savy–” she begins. An apology in her eyes, but I cut her off.

“Joss. What the fuck?”

“Joss?” Wolf asks.

Oh shit.

I know there will be a lot of questions about why Joss is here. And the look on Lexa’s face guts me. She must have been around when Joss was here with Wolf, and she knows all about Joss and Wolf’s relationship.

“Maybe I should leave,” Joss says.

“No, you’re not going anywhere. We’re going to deal with this. You’re always running,” Wolf says.

“I seem to remember you were more interested in fucking sweetbutts instead of being faithful. Don’t pretend I left for no reason, Jacob.”

“Fuck woman, don’t Jacob me,” he groans.

“Not to interrupt or anything, but I haven’t seen my girl in months. You know, the threat of death and all, I’d like to spend time with her, please.”

Everyone within ear shot stares at me like I’ve lost my mind.

“What?” I ask.

“Shut it, woman,” Caleb grumbles. “You ain’t dyin’. I told you that.”

Turning to Caleb, I wrap my arms around his waist and squeeze. “I know that, honey.” I tilt my head back so I can look into his eyes. Eyes that mesmerize me. “Kiss me.”

And he does. By the time we finish our sweet kiss, everyone has returned to the back lawn.

Savy

The day was perfect, except for the tension between Joss and Lexa. They have been pretending to be nice to each other the entire night. I have to admit that I’m a little thankful that they didn’t turn into catty bitches tonight. I want them to get along. They both mean something to me and I’ve had enough drama to last ten lifetimes, I don’t need it from my friends, too.

Now that it’s night, the picnic has turned into a full-blown Havoc MC party. The children have gone home, and the old ladies have mostly gone as well. Milly is still here though. She’s Preacher’s ol’ lady. She has been helping me learn what is expected of an ol’ lady, and life inside a motorcycle club. I like her a lot. She’s has been supportive of Ena and I since we got to Havoc. She’s not my mother, but nurtures us in a way I haven’t experienced since my mom died.

We are outside around a huge bonfire, and there are sweetbutts in various states of dress. Sweetbutts are the property of the club, and are available for any brother’s use, sexually or otherwise. And right now they are being used sexually.

I’ve never seen anyone have sex in front of dozens of people, but I’ve seen more sex positions tonight than I could imagine were possible. Sex is on full display and I’m having a hard time finding somewhere safe to look. To my right, Hazel is completely naked and sitting on Shadow’s lap. Her fake breasts are pert and bouncing as Shadow pounds his dick into her. Her moans are loud as Shadow grunts his release.

I hope they use condoms with the sweetbutts.

I shiver at my thought. I hope the brothers aren’t stupid enough not to use protection. That seems too risky. I’ll have to ask Caleb later.

To my left, a new girl, Bonnie, is sitting on the lap of Tiny. It seems the prospect has the night off. He is talking to Axel, who also has a sweetbutt on his lap, too. I have had little interaction with Bonnie, but she seems nice. She’s quiet and gets along with the other girls. She can’t be much older than Ena, maybe nineteen. She looks like a college kid with her blonde hair and lean frame.

Tiny has one hand down the front of her shirt, fondling her breasts. Bonnie looks a little uncomfortable. I notice his other hand is under Bonnie’s short black leather skirt. He’s playing with her vagina, and she seems to be trying to prevent her moans from escaping. I tear my eyes away as Bonnie looks directly at me, flashing me a small smile.

Okay, enjoying it.

“Savy, I should go,” Joss says.

“Sure, babe. Let me walk you out.”

“I know my way. You relax.”

“You sure?”

“Yep. Thanks for inviting me. It was nice to catch up with everyone. Sorry I didn’t tell you.”

“It’s all right, babe,” I say.

And it is. Joss doesn’t owe me any explanations, although a warning would have been nice. At least then I wouldn’t have had Lexa looking at me like I betrayed her all night. Lexa left about an hour ago. I guess she didn’t want to deal with the tension. I don’t blame her. I’ll call her tomorrow to make sure she’s all right.

As my best friend walks away, I watch Wolf as he watches Joss leave. After about two seconds, Wolf gets up and follows Joss to her car.

Looking to Caleb, he’s watching Wolf follow Joss. And he doesn’t look happy.

Glancing at me, I know he’s not happy. He looks pissed and worried.

Oh shit.
