Don't Want To Lose You (Being Yours Novella Series Book 3) by Dawn Martens (15)

Trixie

I roll over and groan at the sound of my alarm clock going off. God I’m so sore and achy, but a good achy. I haven’t had an all-night sexathon in …  well, I’ve never had one. An hour after I feel asleep after round one last night, Preston woke me up for round two. Round three happened a few hours later, at my doing. I woke up and his hand was cupping me, and I just had to climb on top of him and ride him as hard and fast as I could.

Preston really is my unicorn. He made me come each and every time he was inside me, and more than once. I’ve never felt that in my life, and I didn’t know what I was missing until last night.

I stretch out in bed and feel the empty space beside me. Sitting up I look around the room. Where’s Preston? A piece of paper on his pillow catches my eye.

Hey beautiful, got called in early, I should be home before you tonight. Don’t worry about supper, I’ll make us something.

Love, Preston.

I smile and flop back onto my pillow. My alarm goes off again. Ugh, I hate alarm clocks. I reach over and shut it off, moving out of the bed. I take a quick shower, put my hair back into a ponytail, and grab my white blouse and black pants that Eden told me would be my uniform.

I make it to her diner quickly and rush to the back, still not erasing the smile on my face. “Someone got it on last night!” Eden cheers as she takes in my appearance.

My face heats up and I look away from her. “Shh.”

“No way, I ain’t shushing for nothing. How was it? Was it hot? Was it big? Was he demanding? Spill woman!”

“How ‘bout you don’t spill, my wife doesn’t need to know shit about another man in bed,” Jasper growls from the door of Eden’s back office.

I giggle.

“Why do you always ruin my fun? I wasn’t asking for a tryout with him, I just want to know about her experience.”

“Woman!” Jasper barks at her as he steps further into the room.

I decide to back out and get to work. I shut their door and quickly make my way to the kitchen. Twenty minutes later, I’m sweating over the grill when a disheveled Eden comes and joins me. I grin at her and she grins back. “Jealous sex is almost as good as make up sex,” she informs me with a wink.

“Eden,” I call as she walks to the walk-in fridge.

“What’s up?”

“Do you believe in love at first site?” I ask.

“Lust at first site? Absolutely. Love, that slowly builds up. Why? You in love with Preston?”

“I don’t know, it feels like that, but we only started dating.”

Eden shrugs. “True but at the same time, you’ve known him for years. So, it’s not that surprising things are going so fast.”

“Should I tell him?”

“No way, girl, get with the times. He should tell you first.” She hip chucks me and walks away. “And between you and me, I think he’s just waiting for the right moment to say it.”

**

After my shift, I text Preston and let him know I’m just going to the liquor store and I’ll be home soon. When he told me that he was making pasta and garlic bread, I told him it needed to be eaten with a red wine, something he doesn’t have. So, I told him I didn’t mind grabbing it.

As I head to my car after saying goodbye to Eden, my name is called. Looking up, I see Chris, his face is hard, jaw clenched. Uh oh.

“Where you living?” he demands, coming close to me.

I narrow my eyes at him. “It’s really none of your business, Chris. We’re not married anymore.”

“Until our lawyers call us and we get the final letter, we’re still technically married, so damn right it’s my fucking business!” he snaps at me.

“Chris, we were over a long ass time ago. You know that. We signed the papers, we’re over.”

He walks around my car and grabs my arm. “I only signed those fucking papers because I thought I had a chance to win you back, to start over. Now you’re shacking up with another man when we’re not even officially over.” He leans in close. “Have you been with him all this time? Did you fuck him?”

“Chris, let go. Now. I’m sorry if this hurts you, but you knew this day would come. And no, I haven’t been with Preston all this time, we just started dating.”

“You fucked him already, didn’t you?”

“It’s none of your business!” I scream in his face.

“It is my fucking business. Before we married, you fucked anyone with a dick, and now you’re back to doing the same damn thing.”

“Who fucking cares?! And I’m not fucking everyone, just Preston. But if I wanted to fuck everyone in town, I would! And you can’t stop me. Now let me go.” I pull my arm out of his hold and move back from him. “I don’t want to hurt you, Chris, but we’re over. Done. I’m moving on with my life, and you need to as well.”

A muscle in his jaw ticks and I know in this moment he’s going to ruin every single thing we ever had together. “Fuck you, Trixie. I’m glad we lost Lola, I’m glad I fucked Lacey and made a child with her. Only thing I regret right now is ever marrying you.” I haul my arm back and slap him across his face.

“How dare you say that about Lola. How fucking dare you. I stood by you for years. While we were dating and I knew you were fucking around. I knew about the night before we got married. I could have left before I put my dress on that morning, but I didn’t. I believed that once we were settled, it would be just us. I was so wrong about you. Eleven years of my life, wasted on trash. And by the way asshole, Preston is my unicorn. He’s the only man that’s ever been able to make me come with his dick inside me.” Therapy helped me see that Chris and I weren’t meant to be together for the long haul. When we were dating, the signs were all there, but we both went through with it, when we really shouldn’t have. Once we signed that marriage license, we tried. Losing Lola was the first phase of our final breaking point.

Him having Lita with Lacey, was officially the end.

I move to open my door but Chris’s arm stretches in front of me. “Fuck, Trixie, I didn’t mean to say that shit, I’m just pissed.”

“Yeah, well, it doesn’t matter now. Move, I’m going home.”

He steps back away from me and lets me go. “For the record, Chris. I did love you, faults and all. But we’re not meant for each other.”

His head hangs down in shame, and a tear falls down his face. I drive away and notice a few people from the diner were coming out, probably hearing our altercation.
