Dirty Assets (Soul of the Sinner- Book 2) by Rumer Raines (23)

Alex

A few minutes after I pull onto the road Adele starts crying. I turn to look at her, but since I am driving I can’t hold her the way I am aching to do. I reach over and place my hand on her knee hoping that she understands that I am here for her. I decide that it’s best to take her back to my place instead of the club. She is in no condition to work right now. I pull into my driveway and jump out of the car and head over to Adele’s side to open the door. She is already out of the car and waiting for me. I grab her hand and we walk into the house and once inside she leans back against the wall next to the front door. I grab my cell phone to make a quick call to Teddy to let him know that we won’t be in tonight. When I hang up, I turn around and notice that Adele is watching me.

“I have to leave tonight,” she stutters as she wipes away the tears that are pouring down her face.

“You’re not going anywhere, Adele.” I toss my cell phone on the sofa and run my hand through my hair.

“He won’t give up. I am sure he remembers you kicking him out of the club. He’ll keep watching the club and he’ll figure out how to get to me. What’s worse is he now knows Alexis and she’s in danger too,” Adele says while rubbing her eyes. I sigh and rub my forehead digesting everything that Adele is saying.

“Alexis will be ok. I’ll put someone on her,” I tell her and she shakes her head and narrows her eyes at me

“Is Oliver a cop?” she questions and I already know where this conversation is leading.

“No,” I answer shaking my head and she closes her eyes.

“Did you know that Frank gave me five thousand dollars to help me? Who does that kind of shit? Not to mention that Nick managed to get ten thousand dollars for my worthless car,” she mentions.

“Adele, I am not sure why you're telling me this?” I watch her, but I know why she’s telling me. She is adding shit up.

“You said that you would handle Garth. Tonight, you called me already knowing he was at the restaurant and you sent gun-toting Oliver. Now you're saying that you’ll put someone on Alexis. Who exactly are you, Alex?”

“You already know who I am,” I tell her and she shakes her head.

“Tell me or I will leave. I got away from one bad situation Alex,” she argues.

I close the distance between us and as she backs away from me her back hits the wall again. I reach over and grab a lock of her hair and play with it between my fingers. Her eyes close as I watch her.

“Who do you think I am, Adele? Who do you want me to be?” I ask and she shakes her head.

“Are you in the mob, Alex?” she quietly asks.

“I am not in it, I help run it, Adele.” I get even closer and she takes a deep breath. I get close enough to push my thigh between her legs and I feel her stiffen. I tilt my head to run my tongue along her neck and Adele grabs my shirt to pull me closer. I pull her skirt up so that it’s bunched around her waist. I push her panties aside and rub my fingers against her pussy.

“You are so wet for me aren’t you, baby?” I whisper into her ear and she practically rides my hand. I put two fingers inside and start pushing them in and out with the same intensity that I want my dick to be moving into her. Adele drops her head to my shoulder and starts to moan as her wetness starts to slide down my fingers. I pull away so that her head comes off my shoulder and tilt her head so that I can kiss her and she eagerly opens for me. Adele starts to unbutton my shirt and at that very moment, there is a fucking knock at the door. I decide to ignore it and the pounding gets harder. I look over at the door and Adele freezes and looks back at me. I remove my fingers and stick them in my mouth licking each one of them as she watches me. I look down at her skirt and she looks down too and pulls it back down.

Oliver walks in looking between me and Adele. She does look a little flushed and slightly used and if he looks me over he’ll have an unpleasant surprise. I am hard and had to make several adjustments before I opened the door. Adjustments were made, but I need a release and hopefully, I’ll get one once I get him out.

“Did I interrupt something?” Oliver asks as he looks between Adele and me.

“Did you take care of Garth?” I ask not wanting to answer his question especially when there are more important issues at hand.

“I talked to him. I let him know it was in his best interest to forget about Adele. He agreed and left,” Oliver advises as he looks at Adele.

“He’ll never just forget about me,” Adele whispers, but Oliver and I both hear her.

“I need you to put someone on Alexis and watch the club,” I tell Oliver and his eyes narrow.

“Someone will be assigned to Alexis when I leave. Why do you need me to watch the club?” he asks as he looks over at Adele.

“Adele can’t go back there until we know Garth got the message and I can’t leave her alone until then,” I tell him and Oliver smirks at me and shakes his head.

When Oliver leaves, I lock the door and turn back to see Adele headed into the kitchen. I follow her in and she grabs a beer out of the fridge. I walk past her and grab one for myself.

“You don’t have to do this, Alex.”

“I don’t have to do what, Adele?” I ask as I take a sip of my beer.

“You don’t have to put your life on hold babysitting me. I know it’s not smart for me to be at the club, but it’s your business. You need to be there,” Adele reminds me, holding her bottle of beer.

“I don’t do anything I don’t want to do, baby. It’s not smart for me to go in. If Garth didn’t agree with Oliver, he’ll watch the club. I can’t be in and out of there and take the chance of him following me back to you,” I tell her.

“That’s why I shouldn’t stay here, Alex.”

“You’re not leaving, Adele,” I advise as I watch her take a swallow of her beer. My eyes focus on her holding the bottle and my mind moves to her holding my dick. I can practically feel her squeezing it as she takes it to her mouth. I hear an ‘ahem’ and I look up to meet her eyes.

“Why were you staring at me like that?” she asks and I shake my head. She isn’t ready to hear all the things I am thinking about when it comes to her.

I finish off my beer and notice that she is almost done with hers too. I have no idea what I am supposed to be doing. I would like to throw her across my shoulder and toss her onto my bed, but I doubt that Adele will want that. Granted she let me get her off earlier, but I think I will have to work her up for more of that.

“How about a movie?” I ask her and her eyes widen.

“You want to go out to a movie?”

“No, we aren’t going out. We can do movies on demand or I do have a few DVDs that we can watch.” I tilt my head and Adele smiles at me and I feel a tightness in my chest as she does. I decide to let her pick the movie and she manages to pick some old mafia godfather movie. I should roll my eyes when I see that of all the choices she had, that would be the one she would choose. Since I don’t need to see the previews, I head to the kitchen to make popcorn and hope that she likes the garlic salt that I pour in the bowl. When I return to the living room Adele is curled up on the couch under a blanket and the movie is just starting.

I sit down next to her and she throws up the cover and puts some over me. This is really going to test the hell out of me, but I give her a smile as I hold the popcorn and get comfortable. As we watch the movie, Adele appears to become more comfortable sitting next to me. At first, she is stiff but she soon starts to relax and leans on me as the movie continues. By the time the movie is over we’re done with the popcorn and I am lying down. Adele is lying in front of me with her head on my arm. My other arm is draped across her waist and her hand is holding mine. Every once in a while, she will move and her ass bumps into my crotch. There isn’t that much room on the couch so it becomes a little hard to keep adjusting myself so she doesn’t feel how hard my dick is getting during this damn movie.

“Have you ever killed anyone, Alex?” she asks when one of the main characters commits an ugly murder.

“I’ll plead the fifth,” I tell her.

“That means yes,” she says and I stare at the tv hoping she’ll move on from this conversation.

“Nope. It only means I plead the fifth,” I reassert and Adele turns around on the couch and throws her leg over mine.

“Normally innocent people don’t plead the fifth. Pleading the fifth only means you’re getting asked questions and the answers will get you in trouble,” she states as I try to move my hard dick away from her.

“Do you want me to fuck you, Adele?” I ask her to change the subject and I notice as her breathing gets harder.

“I’ll plead the fifth,” she answers smartly and my eyes narrow on her.
