Goodbye To Tomorrow by Theresa Hodge (18)

MELAH

Sometimes I question my future as I fly back to the place that I once called home…to the city of Mercy, Texas. I’m now at a cross point in my life where it is necessary for me to make a couple of important choices in my day-to-day existence.

My life isn’t so bad, but deep down I yearn for more. Did I make the right decision in running away from my problems instead of just facing them head on? I have a new life now. I work in a very prestigious advertising company which I simply want to leave, but I have no idea where to go. Starting in a new place with new people is something that really terrifies me. My friend Karla back home in Mercy has insisted that I live life in the present moment and not in the past, but I can't forget the past for that's where my heart lies, so I bury myself with work to make me forget.

I am constantly inside my office in New York carrying hundreds of tired, cluttered, and really annoying accounts, but at least they satisfy my main needs. I have a nice apartment in a great neighborhood and I have pleasant neighbors that are not always in each other’s business like back home in Mercy where everyone knows everybody’s private affairs. Now, I find myself having to go back there. At least I can kill two birds with one stone. I can handle my professional business as well as my personal business on this trip.

I'm looking out the window at the terrible storm that’s happening outside the plane’s window and I shudder. It's the kind of morning where I wish I’d stayed curled up in bed under my fluffy blanket. I can see more than I care to of the flashes of lightning zigzagging between the clouds. The meteorologist this morning warned about this impending storm, but I thought it would be coming in much later in the day. In addition, the meteorologist also stated that the storm would be widespread, and that tornadoes and hurricanes would be pending in many areas. By the looks and feel of the strong turbulences, it looks like his credibility on Channel 7 news is on point.

My head is tilted to one side, holding onto the cold plastic that covers the walls of the luxurious plane, from where I can see the big drops of rain falling on the window. I put on headphones moments ago with some Jazz music to help calm my anxiety. At twenty-nine, you would think I would not be scared of planes, but being suspended in the air is not one of my favorite places to be. I hope that my car is waiting at the airport like the Enterprise customer service representative promised when I made my flight arrangements.

I lift my eyes to see a great flash in the darkened sky. It is really amazing what is right in front of me. It seems like an explosion created by the simultaneous crash of a couple of beams. I take my earphones from my ears and lean in a little closer to the window to try to see the impressive moment in all its glory. Suddenly, a great noise explodes my senses.

“Damn, it’s a ruckus out there,” says the older man sitting beside me. “Maybe the airline should have cancelled the damn flight.”

“I agree with you. Had I known the weather would turn this horrible, I would have canceled my trip,” I reply leaning over my seat again. “I don’t feel safe with that great terrible storm happening out there,” I add.

I'll have to call my boss as soon as I land in Mercy City. I cannot afford to look bad on this account with the great opportunity they have given me. It may not be the best thing they have given me, but at least it's something after two years sitting ignored at the firm I work at.

I close my eyes for a moment and put my headphones back in my ears to relax a little. Or well, that I try to do, but the constant turbulence prevents me from achieving it. My belly rolls inside with air bubbles. I open my eyes again and see a great impact behind the rainy and foggy glass, a flash even louder and bolder than just a couple of minutes ago, that has my bulky companion reacting in his dream and waking up with fright from his nap. He’s waving his hands in fear and astonishment, turning his head all around, his eyes red and boggled out, trying to see what happened. I suppose this weather would make the strongest nervous.

Much of my life I have had to appear brave when I was filled with nothing but doubt and distrust. I guess you can blame this on my parents’ tumultuous relationship. My mom was being a faithful foolish woman to a traitorous husband who showed loyalty to no one but the other women he fucked. My belief in my dad has led me on a distrustful journey where men are concerned. Once upon a time I thought that love would fix it all, but I was wrong. Since then I have crossed paths with other women in situations similar to my own, and it has helped me to be stronger, even when I weaken in some occasions.

I think of the past and I feel a tickle running all over my body, bringing to my mind the memory of the grand and perfect smile of my mother, and for some reason next to this, one of her favorite phrases. "When you feel afraid of something, just pray." I have no idea why it comes to my mind, but it would not be a good idea to ignore it, so I tilt my head down, holding my face with my hands, and I close my eyes, "God, let this plane land and may we all be safe". Only these words come to me.

I tilt my body back, I turn my face and I observe a couple in the same row as I am, on the other side of the aisle; two old women who may be sisters are holding hands, both seem to be praying. I cannot help smiling, and even I feel a drop fall from my eyes. That terrible feeling of emptiness inside my stomach intensifies. I have no idea why, but I feel really confused. I feel cheerful and nostalgic, worried and calm, all at the same time. One face comes before my eyes and my heart expands with the reality of what I have to do.

I shake my head sideways again and again with my eyes closed, trying to think of something else, trying to avoid the sudden feeling that floods my body completely. I put my headphones on again; I change the jazz for a little country.

One of the songs by Blake Shelton is the first to play on my list. I realize that the safety light is turned on above me, forcing me to adjust my belt which I never really stopped wearing, but also giving me some peace of mind. This means that my trip inside this spectacular metal bird is about to end and a new one to begin.

My mind goes back to one of the last conversations I had with the love of my life—my husband.

"Lukas, please don't answer the phone."

"Babe, I have to. It may be important."

"What can be important at one in the morning, Lukas? You need to set some boundaries with your assistant, Cassidy Marlowe."

"Stop being like that, Melah. Hello, what's up, Cass? Yeah, I have that report on my laptop. Let me go to my study and I'll pull it up and email it to you. What would I do without you in my life Cass? You are really a lifesaver. You know that right?" Lukas chuckled and walked out the door as he continued talking to his assistant. I fumed silently inside before falling back to sleep.

*

"Don't forget about tonight, sleepyhead,” Lukas kissed me awake.

"I won't. I will see you later," I rolled over in bed and stretched. "But do we have to go tonight?"

"Mmhmm, yes, we do," replied Lukas. "Now, give me a kiss." He strolled over and sat on the side of the bed. His silver gaze peered into my eyes and I shuddered. “I love you, babe," he professed just before his lips met mine.

"I love you too, Lukas," I muttered as his warm mouth swallowed my words. Our tongues swirled and tangled in passion. "Mmm," I moaned as a tingle started to build between my thighs, my husband taking me completely into his arms.

"You have too many clothes on," I murmured trying to relieve him of his Armani suit jacket. The smell of his cologne tantalized my nostrils. He smelled of a mixture of ginger and sandalwood.

"Make love to me, Lukas. I need you," I murmured putting all of my desires into the kiss. My body and my soul combusted in a fiery need for my husband.

Lukas pulled away from me. Our gazes clashed with one another as he stood to his feet. He hurriedly stripped out of his clothes. I followed suit and lifted my nightshirt over my head and flung it aside.

"You look damn sexy," he said getting onto the bed to hover over me. My thighs splayed open automatically. His ten-inch cock knocked at the entrance of my slickness.

"Take me," I crooned, lifting my hips to allow his stiffness to pry into my core.

"Fuck," he grated out. Lukas slid his erection in a bit deeper, nudging slowly, ever so slowly.

My eyes widened. I inhaled and exhaled roughly as he plunged into me to the hilt.

Lukas quickly became still as a statue. He placed a hand against my waistline to make sure that neither of us moved.

"You mean the world to me, sweetheart," Lukas growled. He traced his hand up to my right cheek and began stroking. "You do already know that, right? I would never do anything to hurt you intentionally in any way." His eyes searched my brown ones.

"Yes," I nodded my head up and down to confirm my words. I trust you Lukas, my mind screamed out. It's your assistant that I don't trust. But Lukas had immense trust in her, so I didn't vocalize my thoughts.

My husband continued scanning my face with his intense gaze. Suddenly, he gave me a sexy grin. My lips bloomed into an answering smile of my own as he began to move inside my heat. I sighed, my hips writhing in a circular motion as his cock embedded itself into my wet walls, deeper and deeper.

The electrical sensations of having him deep inside of me sent my emotions into a tail spin. The twinges inside my pussy jolted me to move my hips frantically… the pleasure inside me almost became too much for me to handle before I combusted into zillions of pieces.

"Shit! Your pussy feels so hot and tight. I'm glad all of this belongs to me," he said.

"All I want and need is you, Lukas. There has never been anyone but you."

The more I professed my love for Lukas, the deeper his strokes became. The more he gave me the more I desired.

Our flesh molded together and felt like one entity. I was slowly becoming undone in my husband's arms.

Our colliding bodies were like music together, finding its own beautiful flow and rhythm. The lyrics of our bodies writhed and rose with a sensual pace as I matched his every stroke.

"Melah, look at me when I am fucking you," Lukas grated out.

My eyes popped open and my mouth formed a perfect O as my eyes gazed into his. An electrical charge sizzled all the way to my heart, aligning my heart with his forever. Without breaking eye contact, Lukas began to move in and out of my core with furious intense strokes.

My eyes blinked rapidly at the feel of Lukas' pounding strokes. My hands slid down the bulging muscles in his back to trail down his ass cheeks. My legs wrapped around his trim toned waistline to trap him deep inside.

Lukas’s relentless rhythmic thrusts picked up speed as he balanced himself on his elbow. He started tracing sensual patterns up and down my ribs and over my shoulder blade. I shuddered with intense desire as I took in my husband's magnificent physique. His long, dark hair hung loose, and black as a raven's. He looked feral like a wild long ago warrior. His silver gaze sensuous and deep. My brown eyes locked on his, and my mouth gaped open; I began to groan in earnest from his every pounding stroke.

Lukas stroked against my ass cheeks. He guided and moved me to follow his gentler and slower pace. I noted how his eyebrows came together in concentration and how his teeth clamped down and his jaw line clenched.

“Mmm, oh my God, yes!” I moaned from the intense lustful pleasure zooming through my entire being.

I could see so many emotions in Lukas' eyes: love, passion, adoration, sensuous passion… He stared at me as if I was the only woman on earth. I felt like I was in our own private universe as we made perfect love. Each of my strokes became punctuated by my pants and sighs. Harsh breathing escaped from Lukas' lungs as well.

“Cum for me, Melah,” Lukas demanded me.

“Ahh,” my cries seemed to spur Lukas on, arousing him even more, as if that was possible. He reached in between our bodies and fiddled with my clit as he increased his speed even further. I tightened my grip on his ass and screamed my way through an orgasm of gigantic proportions. My eyes fluttered closed from the bliss of it all.

“Look at me when I am fucking you," Lukas demanded again. "I need to see your eyes when you cum for me.”

The seriousness of his voice matched his expression on his rugged handsome face.

My eyes opened wide, and I moaned out louder as his fingers sped against my slick nub.

Lukas bent near my ear and whispered sweet romantic words of his love for me. I came again and spurted my essence all over his cock.

"Fuck! I'm cumming,” he grunted and splashed my walls with his hot seed.

His groans and my shouts of pleasure blended into one harmonious melody as our limp sweaty bodies fell against the bed in deep satisfaction.

“Snap out of it, Melah!” My mind screams as the airplane descends to the wet airstrip.
