Avenged Hearts (Mastered Hearts Book 3) by Angela Nicole (21)

Alexandra

Damn, this man says things to turn me on like no one ever has before. It makes me feel and act bolder than I have with other guys. Like having sex in a truck where someone could catch us. Yeah, I never would’ve done that in the past. But Colton…he makes me this way.

It’s still a little light out, but no one is here in the park. Colton’s truck is facing the water, so we can see the sun.

He reaches over and moves a strand of hair behind my ear. “So, you want to watch the sun set while I fuck you. Is that what you said?” Colton growls.

Not trusting my own voice, I nod.

Colton moves his seat back as far as it’ll go. “Come over here then, sweetheart, and let me make you feel good.”

I lean over and straddle his lap, facing him. “That isn’t going to work if you want to watch the sun. Turn around.”

Thank God he has a big cab because maneuvering around like this is anything but sexy.

Colton’s hands help steady me as I grip the wheel. “Hold yourself up a sec.”

I hear him unzip his shorts. As he wiggles his shorts and underwear down, he brushes against me. He’s hard as a rock.

Colton slides his hands up my legs and gathers my dress up around my waist. “Fuck me, darlin’. No underwear?”

I know it’s a rhetorical question, so I don’t bother to answer.

“Let me feel how wet you are for me.” Colton slides his hand across my wet center. I know I’m dripping, but I don’t care.

“Oh, Goldie, you want my cock, don’t you?”

My answer comes when I lower myself onto his erection.

Colton growls against my back. His hands move around to my front and he pinches my nipples.

“Fuck, Colton, I’m not going to last long like this.”

I continue to move up and down slowly, when I suddenly feel a slap on my ass. It’s as if I’m a toy he just wound up because I pick up my rhythm.

Trying to keep my eyes open and on the sun is proving to be a chore.

“God, you are fucking sexy, Goldie.”

I feel my insides clench as I near my orgasm.

Colton’s hands move to my hips as he steadies me. When he thrusts himself up into me, it’s about all I can take.

“Watch the sun, Alexandra. Keep your eyes open when you come.”

One of his hands moves around to my clit. The second his thumb rubs against me, I’m off like a rocket.

It doesn’t take long for Colton to follow.

As I come down from orgasm, I can still feel myself contract around him.

Colton leans up against my back and whispers in my ear, “That was so fucking hot.”

All I can do is nod.

We spend the next hour or so kissing and holding each other, able to see the best part of the sunset. After the sun goes down over the horizon, the different colors illuminate the sky. It’s stunning.

Unfortunately, Colton is going to Daytona early in the morning to pick up a bike he needs to work on.

“I wish we could stay together tonight and sleep in tomorrow morning,” he says as he nuzzles my neck.

I’d love that too, but tomorrow, I have plans he can’t know about just yet. I need to call in some reinforcements.

* * *

The next morning, Colton sends me a message he’s getting on the road and will text me when he gets there. I know most guys would roll their eyes if I asked them to let me know they made it safe, but not Colton.

Strategizing what I’m going to say to my FBI friend, I make a list. First on the list is the case against Colton and the missing eyewitness. Second is Colton’s dad’s death.

Michael should have some insight into what to do. He spent some time undercover with a really bad motorcycle club, so he knows the inter-workings.

I know I can tell him I’m Colton’s alibi. Michael brought me into some of his cases when I was an intern, and has always been a great supporter of mine. He called me when he found out what happened back in New York. Of course I was inconsolable, but he tried.

Putting my list aside, I call Michael but get his voicemail. I leave him a short message, telling him I need help with a case.

I set up my computer and files on my kitchen table, then spend the rest of the day doing some research on Miller and Anderson. Of course I don’t find anything negative. They both have received commendations…real model cops. But I know better, something is off with those two.

When I reach over to pour myself another shot of whiskey, I hear a crash of breaking glass in my living room.

My heart and stomach drop to the floor. Part of me doesn’t want to go see what happened, even though I know I have to.

As I walk slowly into the living room, I hear a car squeal its tires. Glancing around, I notice my front storm door is shattered.

I’m careful as I approach, making sure not to step on any glass. Thank God I have a tile floor, so it’ll be an easy cleanup, but what the hell?

There’s a goddamn brick in the middle of my floor. I’m able to lean over and pick it up without cutting myself, and see there’s writing on it.

You’ll pay, bitch.

I make my way over to the shattered storm door and open it. There isn’t anyone out there. I shut the front door, then sink down to the floor. Don’t cry, I tell myself.

I know I should call the cops, but I won’t. I can’t tell Colton either. If he finds out, he’ll take matters into his own hands.

It’s got to be Miller and Anderson trying to scare me, but I won’t give them the satisfaction.

Just as I finish sweeping up, my phone rings. Michael’s name flashes across the screen.

I’m not telling Michael about this either.

Putting on my cheerful voice, I answer. “Hey, Michael.”

“Hey, Cookie.”

That was his nickname for me because I ate cookies all the time when I was interning. Michael always knew he could find them in my desk, so he helped himself.

“How are things in sunny Florida? I’m going to assume not perfect since you’re calling me.” He chuckles.

“Wow, can’t I just call a friend to catch up?”

“Sure. So, how are you, friend?”

“Terrible. I need your help.” I let out a sigh.

“See? Told you. Now tell me what’s going on.”

I spend the next fifteen minutes telling Michael all about Colton’s situation, Miller and Anderson, and his father’s death.

“I really don’t like this, Alex. You don’t need to get involved with cops who are dirty, or the Falcons MC. Everything I’ve heard about them is bad. Promise me you won’t get yourself into a situation you can’t handle,” Michael demands, like an older brother.

I look at the brick that is now sitting on my counter. Of course, I lie to him. If I don’t, he’ll be on the next plane here.

“I’ll be careful, Michael. I was just hoping you could do some investigating for me since you have more resources at your disposal.”

He’s silent for a few seconds. I know what he’s thinking. If he helps me, it will be like he supports my snooping. If he doesn’t help, then there’s a possibility I’ll do it on my own.

Michael lets out a sigh. “All right, Cookie, I’ll help, but only because I don’t want you to go off on your own and get into trouble. If I do this, we need to do it my way.”

“Of course. Thank you so much for your help. I owe you one.”

“Oh, Alex, you owe me more than one.” He laughs.

We talk for another half hour, so I can give him more information. Michael tells me about what’s been going on with him, then promises to be in touch soon with whatever he can dig up.

Once we hang up, I’m left dealing with my door. I need to take the storm door off until I get a new one. I’ll do that first thing in the morning, hoping I can get to it before Colton shows up.

Speaking of Colton, I haven’t heard from him since he texted me that he arrived in Daytona. He’s due back tomorrow, sometime late morning.

I spend the next hour making sure everything is locked up tight. I debated whether or not I should spend the night at my sister’s house, but that would include a lot of explaining. Not wanting to bring her into this, I decide to just sleep on my sofa with my pistol nearby.

Sleep didn’t come easily and when my phone beeped at midnight, I was a little pissed.

I blink to adjust my eyes to the bright display of my phone, then see Colton’s name.

Colton: Sorry I didn’t call sooner. I wanted to get back on the road. Are you up? I’m home.

Shit. Now what, Alex?

Colton knows I’m awake now because he can see that I read his text. As much as I want to see him, I need to hold him off until tomorrow afternoon.

Me: Thank God you’re home safe. Can’t keep my eyes open. Talk in the morning?

Colton: Sure, babe. Talk to you soon.

The rest of my night goes just like I thought it would. I was awake with every sound. Today will be hell, I just know it.
