December 15th
Today was the day we were going to say goodbye to little Billy. My brother was my rock, he held my hand all through the ceremony and held me tight in his arms when I broke down as they lowered the small coffin into the grave.
“You ok?” he whispered to me. I shook my head, too afraid to talk.
When I was nineteen my best friend at the time Debbie had a miscarriage. I came home from work to find her passed out on the bathroom floor with blood seeping down her leg. “Yeah, Mum.” She gripped my hand in hers as we walked back to the car.
“Shall we go out and have some lunch?” Dad asked.
“I’d just like to go home and have a relaxing bath.”
“And I’m meeting Melody.” Marcus added.
“When are we going to get to meet her?” Mum asked, turning in her seat to look at my brother as dad drove towards my apartment block.
“Soon.” He said, not making any promises to mum. She didn’t look happy.
“Here you go, honey.” Dad said as he pulled up outside my place.
“Thanks, Dad.” I unsnapped my seatbelt and leant forward to kiss mum and dad on the cheek. Marcus squeezed my hand one last time before I climbed out.

“Cupid.” He groaned as I sucked at that space below his ear.
“No, your real name.”
“You know I can’t do that, sweetheart. But you’ll know soon enough.” He squeezed my hips in his hands as he manoeuvred me slightly.
