Biker Ruined (The Lost Souls MC Series Book 8) by Ellie R Hunter (22)

Dex

Cas never should’ve given her the choice of staying or leaving. Once she heard she could stay, she wasn’t going to leave without her brother.

“Let me see Kyle again,” she says.

“I can’t do that.”

Cas leaving took her rage down from boiling to a steady simmer.

“You know he shouldn’t be down there, whatever Dan and Cay have done, he doesn’t deserve to be treated like them.”

“It’s not down to me,” I sigh, “Are you sure you don’t want me to take you home?”

“I don’t even know where home is anymore and I’m not leaving unless my brother does too.”

I knew it, I don’t know why I asked.

“In that case, can I get you a drink?” I ask, knowing I need one.

“Why not,” she mutters, “If I drink enough, maybe I’ll be brave enough to break my brother out of here.”

She breaks our eye contact and brothers coming up from the basement becomes her sole focus.

This isn’t going to be good. Cas seems to enjoy her smart mouth, but I doubt the rest of the club will.

She pays a bit too much attention to who is coming up and I can see her mind working out how to get back in the basement.

“Follow me.”

I don’t wait to see if she does, I can hear her heels tip-tapping against the floor. She thinks we’re going to her brother, she huffs as we take the stairs. I unlock the door to my room and swing it open. I wait for her to head in first and close it behind us.

Now we’re alone, her guard comes down and her vulnerability smacks me straight between the eyes.

"Unless Cas allows him to leave, there's nothing you can do to help him, apart from keeping your fucking mouth shut."

“Was it all an act for you?” she asks, her voice soft and ignoring my advice.

I lean back against the door and wish we were still in the bar, we wouldn’t be about to have this conversation if we were.

“Yes.”

When I was tasked with watching her when Cas wanted to trade her for Oak and Sparky, I felt bad for her. I’d talk with her to keep her distracted. I thought Cas would never know, what could it hurt? Then I caught her hanging around the gate after he let her go, she saw me taking up my post on the lookout for the Devils Bastards and wanted to see me. I saw an opening to get closer to Danny and I took it. I gave her my number and she messaged me that same night, every text I sent was a ploy to get Danny. I can’t lie about that.

“Why?”

I push away from the door and sit on the stool at the bottom of the bed.

“Why do you think? It was for my club, I wanted the patch.”

She snorts and slowly shakes her head, sitting on my bed, a few inches away from me.

“You certainly had me fooled and I hate you now as much as I hate this club and as much as Danny.”

“You don’t hate me, sweetheart. You hate that you like me, don’t lie to yourself, it’s bad for the soul.”

She barks out a laugh and leans over, reaching into my pocket and pulls out my smokes and matches.

I watch her put one to her mouth and light up. I haven’t seen her smoke before today, yet she smokes like she’s been doing it for years. I don’t like it.

I grab her wrist as she goes to put my smokes back. I pull her close to me so our faces are less than three inches apart. I plan on saying something, I have no clue what it will be, but nothing comes out and she sees my hesitation and jumps in first.

“If lying is bad for the soul than yours will be as black as the night sky. You weren’t acting when you told me you’d keep me safe and especially not when you had your dick buried between my legs.” She takes a long drag on her cigarette and then says, “You didn’t lie to me for the club, you lied to them because of me. Face it, this new patch of yours is based on deception. You just haven’t figured out who are the ones you’re deceiving. You haven’t got a clue what you want.”

“I know exactly what I want and I’ve got it. I’ve already told you, we were a one-time thing and if you tell anyone, I won’t be fucking happy.”

A slow smile creeps across her face and I don’t trust it at all.

“You need to stop lying, Dexter,” she purrs.

The use of my full name startles me and this makes her happy.

“What do you want from me? I didn’t exactly make you feel special, I used you, and I’d sleep with anyone with a nice pair of tits and a fine ass like yours,” I growl.

She just smiles, like she doesn’t believe a single word I’m saying.

“All you boys with your bikes acting like you’re real men, none of you know how to speak the truth…”

"Oh, we do. You just don’t like what I'm saying but listen to me, the truth is every time I touched you, every time I made you smile, it was all fake..."

"I heard your groans as I caressed your body, every moan as I rode your cock, that wasn’t fake..."

“Come on, we’re going for a drink,” I say, cutting her off.

I’m not listening to any of this bullshit any longer. I release her wrist and she drops her cigarette into a half empty beer bottle I’ve yet to throw out. It's hard to forget how she made me feel, I remember it every time I think about her. Her touch was hard to forget when I wanted to be with Shannon last night.

“I could do with a drink, who knows what will come out of my mouth.”

She’s always been strong and feisty, but now she’s being a bitch and strangely, it’s turning me on as much as it’s annoying the shit out of me. So I don’t have to think too much about it, the prick inside me comes out to play.

“If you want Kyle leaving here alive, you’ll do well to keep your pretty lips shut. Piss Cas off anymore and he’ll kill him.”

This wipes the bitch clean off her face and for once, nothing but glorious silence comes from her. I swing open the door and she hustles by me. I quickly lock up and stay close behind her. The bar is crazy busy with everyone wanting to stay close to Danny and they all stop and stare at her. I nudge her forward until we're standing at the bar. I order two beers and throw the cash down for the prospect.

"Don’t they know it's rude to stare," she whispers.

"They don’t give a fuck, so shut up and drink."

She slides onto a stool and takes hold of her beer.

"I liked you when you were nice, I think I like you even more being an ass."

For fuck sake, this chick is crazy and the way she's looking at me like she thinks I'm all hers is making me regret using her.
