Chasing Home: An Alpha / Omega MPreg (Omega House Book 5) by Aria Grace (19)

Nathan

“It was so beautiful.” Sean grips me tightly around the shoulders and pulls me into a huge hug. “I’m so happy for you, and Dodge truly seems like a great guy.”

“Thanks, he is. I’m so glad you all could come.” I’m still shocked my friends from the Omega House made the trip out here for me.

“We wouldn’t miss it,” Seth says, clapping a hand on my shoulder and giving it a squeeze.

“Have you guys decided where you’ll live? You know we can always use your help at the Omega House.” Jace waggles his eyebrows at me. “Your success story in overcoming obstacles in life is something all of our scared and abused omegas should hear.”

“I don’t know yet,” I reply honestly. “Dodge and I haven’t really decided anything yet. He has his house here, but he’s not opposed to moving. It’s definitely something we’ll need to figure out soon, though.”

“Well, if you decide to stay here, just make sure you’re ready for a crowd when we come to visit.” Sean smiles at Collin. Gunnar is at home taking care of Lexi and Levi, who are more than a handful for three people, let alone one.

“We’ll always have a place for you.” And I mean that. These guys have been my only family for a long time. And I know they always will be.

As if on cue, Dodge walks over to me. “There you are.” He gives me a quick kiss before turning to the men standing around me. “Do you mind if I steal my husband away for a dance?”

No one objects as he pulls me toward the center of the dance floor and sweeps me into his arms. Not that it would have stopped him if someone had. He is on a mission to prove just how much he loves me. And no matter how many times I remind him his mission was accomplished a long time ago, he keeps trying.

And that’s okay with me.

Dodge pulls me into his warm chest and holds me close as we sway in time to the music.

“You’ve made me the happiest man on the planet,” Dodge says into my ear. His warm breath tickles the shell and sends a tingle down my spine.

“Hmmm,” I respond playfully. “I’ll have to work on making you the happiest man in the universe then.”

Dodge chuckles, the vibrations from his chest reverberating against mine. “I can think of a few ways to try...”

“Alright, everyone.” The voice from the DJ over the loudspeakers pulls us from our quiet conversation. “To the two handsome fellows in the middle of my dance floor, we want to raise a glass.”

Out of nowhere, a waitress comes to us with two glasses of champagne. We each take one and listen as the young woman spinning for our reception makes her toast. “May you both live long, happy lives together with all the blessings and richness life brings to you. Cheers.”

The crowd salutes us, and I take a small sip from the glass. I’m just about to head off the floor when her voice catches me again. “And Nathan...”

I look at the DJ, startled and slightly embarrassed to be singled out unexpectedly. This part wasn’t anything the wedding planner mentioned in our planning meetings. “Dodge wants you to have something extra special on your glorious day.” A car pulls up to the edge of the dance floor, and Oliver hops out of it, tossing me the keys.

“Are you kidding me?” I look at Dodge, stunned, before glancing back at the blue Camaro to my right.

“I can’t have you taking the bus anymore...” Dodge chuckles.

I’m absolutely speechless. “I didn’t get you anything...”

“You didn’t need to. But I wanted to get you something of your own. A car that you can use whenever you want.”

I race into his arms, hugging him tightly. “I love you,”

“And I love you. Now, go check it out.”

Grinning, I motion to Sean. He jumps into the car with me. She purrs like a kitten and I can’t wait to get her on the road. “We’ll be right back!”

Dodge just laughs as Sean and I take my new ride out for a test drive. We make a quick trip into town, and then work our way back to the party. I don’t want to be away from my husband for more than a few minutes.

We’re back within ten minutes. Dodge who is talking with one of his coworkers when I give him another excited squeeze.

“How was it?”

“Amazing!” I’m still baffled that he bought me such an expensive present. He shouldn’t be wasting money on me, but I won’t turn it down. Before he jumps back into his conversation, I yank him back toward the dance floor and motion to the DJ to cut the music again. “And I lied.” I pull back and watch as Sean brings me a small package. “We picked up a little something for you on our trip...but I didn’t have time to wrap it.” I laugh Dodge looks at the brown bag Sean is holding.

He takes it, shaking it and curiously feeling its weight. “You got me a brown bag?”

“Just open it, you goof.” I swat him on the shoulder, anxious to see what he thinks of it.

All eyes are on us as he slowly unfolds the bag and reaches inside. A few seconds later, his hand reappears with a small yellow pacifier.

Several guests let out small gasps as Dodge looks between me and the object in confusion.

After an uncomfortable moment passes, Sean leans in. “He’s pregnant.”

Realization hits Dodge like a brick as the confusion on his face changes to one of surprise and then elation. “Really?” he asks, whispering as if somehow his volume might cause it not to be true.

I nod my head, happy to see the joy on his face. “Really.”

Dodge throws his arms around me and squeezes me tightly. “Oh, Nathan... I don’t know what to...”

“Does this mean you’re happy?”

“Happy? You’re giving me the one thing that no one else in the world can give me. Our baby... I can’t believe it. I’m the happiest man in the universe.”

“Well, that was easy.” I kiss him briefly before our guests gather around us and cheer before moving in with their congratulatory hugs.

After a couple more hours, most of the guests have left. Sean and the rest of the gang from Omega house are staying at a nearby hotel and plan on meeting us for breakfast in the morning before heading out of town.

Luckily, despite my insistence that Dodge save his money, he insisted on hiring a cleanup crew. And now I’m thankful he did. As the two of us sit on the couch in his living room, I can finally relax.

He pulls me into his lap, and I nestle into his warm embrace. “I can’t believe you’ve been holding out on me. Are you certain? I thought you said it wasn’t possible.”

With my face buried in his neck, I smile against his skin. “I just found yesterday. I didn’t think it was possible, but the doctor confirmed it. I planned to save the news until after the wedding...but someone had to go and buy me a new car. I just couldn’t let you show me up.”

Dodge chuckles. “Trust me, after that, there’s nothing in this world I can do to show you up. I love you so much.”

“I love you too, husband.”

“I like when you say that,” he says, kissing my forehead. “But this changes things.”

“What do you mean?” I pull back far enough to see his eyes.

“Well...” He shifts me on his lap so I can see his face. “A baby means a lot of responsibility. And needing a support system.”

“Yes…” I say, waiting for him to get to his point.

“So, I’m wondering if we should plan on moving closer to your friends.”

“You mean it?” I hoped we’d end up back where I truly feel at home, but I was nervous to bring it up to him. Now that he’s broached the subject, I’m elated at the prospect of raising our little one alongside my friends and their babies.

“Of course. I work from anywhere. And we can keep the house here for when I need to be in the office.”

My smile droops slightly. “You want to leave me all alone and come back here?”

Dodge runs his hand across my face, tucking a lock of hair behind my ear. “I don’t plan on leaving you. That’s why I want to keep this house. So, you and the baby can come with me.”

Instantly, my smile returns. “I like that idea.”

“Then it’s settled,” he says. “You just bring our baby into the world healthy and happy. I’ll take care of everything else.”

And I know he will.

I snuggle back into his chest with visions of Dodge playing in the front yard with our little one.

It’s a life I never dreamed I could have, but one that is quickly becoming my reality.
